  1. I'm old and feeble and still working on the same new movement pattern from almost a year ago. But that's me .. you should get in within 2-3 weeks And, yes - some days with golf are better than others .. that *IS* the nature of the beast......
  2. Flight is booked! Checked other VA and DC airports, thx; best deal was actually non-stop each way from La Guardia to/from Richmond .. arriving early Thurs and departing late Sun. Possibly going to rent a car so anyone else arriving Richmond Thursday morning lemme know!!
  3. Yes available from Golf Works online .. can get it trimmed and with an adapter and grip, if you choose.
  4. Why not? You literally have nothing to lose (well except for a little time out of your day ) .. and who knows? Had a brief flirtation with a Gen 5 XF and it was great on center hits (when they happened) but disappointingly not so great due me on those not quite on center hits..... Good luck!
  5. Holy (bleeping) (expletive) (bleep) WOW!!!! I love you, man. I love your beer choices very very much.
  6. Did some range time this afternoon, and .. it went fairly well! Then saw that the putting green was open so spent some time there, working on lags edge to edge then random putts to different little flags for distance control .. went fairly well there, too! So feeling somewhat better about things related to golf, vs my previous attempts recently, and went back to the range for a little more chipping / pitching and a few full swings... .. one of the things I was working on was using my 6i to go at the 100 yd marker (my range has those about 8 ft black & white thick poles) and on my last shot - nailed it dead on! (..maybe about a foot up from the base, I think) - so kinda happy with myself there Walking back to the putting green for a few more minutes there and the pro asks if I'm heading out .. wasn't thinking about it .. but he's like 'no one's out; it's a nice day; you're here ready to go...' .. so heck why not? Just had my practice set with me which is driver, 4H, 6i today (typically 7i), PW (45*), 54 and 60 in a small, light carry bag. Played 4 holes - two on the back back then two on the front - where each pair forms a convenient loop. Gotta say while there were not any great shots - and of course a few haha not so great ones - they all went in generally the right direction (and no lost balls). There are still temp greens so I wasn't putting (fairways are also still pre-season condition) .. practiced chipping towards the flag with different wedges; also tried a few short blade of the wedge putts for the heckuvit. So overall starting to feel like the upcoming season may actually hold out some promise ..but still it's a... Work In Progress!!
  7. Yes, via an older Cobra driver that was my wife's (before I got her a newer one). Shaft was a Fuji (something) and while it was useful at the start of my own O-P Experiment .. ultimately I settled on an A flex. For me and the way I swing I need just that little bit more of stability yet still have a nice kick at impact. If you've read through this thread you'll see that .. obviously .. everyone has different tendencies so the best thing is to do your own trial & error. Good luck!!
  8. And another Happy TGIF to you all!! That cheery, bright Mr Sun who visited our area the past few days seems to be hiding today - not sure if there's a threat of rain or not, but at least temps are still mild before a forecasted drop coming up. So maybe a little golf practice or try to play a few holes later..? @Peaksy68 hoping for a quick recovery! ..and rest up, that nice restaurant will still be there when you're ready for it... @Triple_Putt I know the old Mom saying is wear clean underwear in case you get into an accident .. but you were really prepared and had clean pants with you! (.. but not asking the next question ) Everybody - I hope your coffee .. and your golf games .. are hot!! Enjoy the day!
  9. Yikes. No - not the start to a day anybody would expect - but OTOH you were "lucky" in that you were with not just people, but people who reacted quickly and helpfully! And haha enjoy that heart healthy hospital food - it's, uhhh, good for you Hope you feel better and are back in action right quick!
  10. Should be But there's me, 3 other just as old guys and two younger dudes. So not too exciting.... (..but do NOT tell my wife .. there's a pretty cute bartender there) ---- Separately: @Preeway your vids in your swing journey thread are really good! You demonstrated - to my eye - things that I'm struggling to achieve, including .. nice upright posture, good pressure shift targetward before transition, extended arms into impact, nice rotation through, etc etc. Keep working!!!
  11. OK so umm was supposed to have this indoor *GOLF* clinic (week #3 of 5) tonight and received this message earlier today... Uhhh yeah .. these translation / speech to text online services still need some further refining... oh PS: msg was from X (ex, the letter EX) Golf in Commack
  12. 1. that's awesome! 2. In theory, you check to see that your dominant (or for some people front) eye is directly over the ball (and not outside of it) .. plus you can (also in theory ) check if your shoulders are square with all the lines on the mirror vs open or closed. Anyway keep at it .. constant putting practice like that will give you a huge payoff on the course
  13. ok @cnosil serious question -- originally was thinking of driving down, but now looking at flights from NY to VA ... so how much of a PITA is it getting from Norfolk to Williamsburg?? That option leaves from my preferred airport closer to home, which is easier to get to and to park at, and arrives 9:25 am (Thurs 5/30). Also the cheapest flight. Other options are available to Richmond or Newport News for more $$$ from the other NY area airports...
  14. So on the subject of golf and women.... Did you know the first female pro golfer was hired by Wilson Sports .. in 1934..?? From an LPGA newsletter... "In 1934, [Helen Hicks] who grew up in Cedarhurst, N.Y. signed a contract with Wilson Sporting Goods to travel the country promoting the Wilson brand. She had a pilot’s license for a single-engine private plane, so barnstorming and giving exhibitions was easier for Helen than for some others. But it was a radical move by the leaders at Wilson and a giant leap of faith by an athlete." And apparently she was an accomplished player, and quite the competitor, in her time. 15. omg still laughing!!! Dude let us know in advance when you're booked for your stand-up performance!!!
  16. credit to @Rob Person for finding this coffee co...
  17. Good Morning! ... I think .. is it still morning...? Oof.. moving a little slowly so far today .. combination of a few things but hey look it's a bright sunny day here and gonna get warm, too! Beach day? I know you're all thinking golf day but did do some of that swing thing yesterday, and will be doing some more of it this evening (indoor clinic). Maybe a little yard work; always stuff to tend to out there! Well whatever Friday Eve has in store for you all, I hope it's something good or fun or if it's that w-o-r-k thing that people talk about then hope it's not too annoying!!
  18. Process. PVD = Physical Vapor Deposition One of the materials guys or engineers on here could explain it better, but basically (as I understand it) vs a coating the color mixes / bonds with the metal in the head.
  19. Well yay .. had a somewhat confidence-rebuilding practice this afternoon! Trying to work on posture, pressure shift, path and ultimately making decent contact with each club. Once of the big keys for me is to practice (force myself) taking more time between shots but more importantly taking my time with the shot itself - not rushing it, as I tend to do. Had to grab a pic of this 6i in case it doesn't ever happen again There was a bit of a headwind and the ball flew straight and true - if not all that far, but hey not too bad for an aging dude! Only real problem today was the 4H - it thought it was on parade: Right, Left; Right, Left. Work In Progress
  20. I literally just said WHHOOAA!! out loud when he did that kneeling bendy twisty turny thingie haha but heck yeah mobility becomes even more important as you age and still want to actually make a golf swing!
  21. I believe that's the first year they released their unique Ballet model, which is a blended design combining the best of both putter head types. Tour proven winner (1) Makes everything automatic from 5 - 8 feet (2) Testers please reply in this thread detailing exactly why you think this unique putter would work for you. ... (1) Results not verified. Your results may vary. (2) In testing anything inside of 5 feet and outside of 8 feet not tested; only puts actually from 8 -> 5 feet were tested. ... PS: we need to add the emoji in the response options
