  1. @fixyurdivot I guess be happy you're an outlier on the positive side!
  2. FWIW.. one more vote for Best Bond Ever!!! He really made that character into screen legend Daniel Craig is a worthy successor (..and skipping over those in-betweeners .. except George Lazenby's single appearance was creditable.) Another, imho, excellent Sean Connery film .. alongside co-star Michael Caine and based on a Rudyard Kipling novel... "The Man Who Would Be King" Really good story and enjoyable film!
  3. Yeah that would be nice, but... As @cnosil mentioned most likely outside the realm of an in-home simulator. One other factor that would be a "nice to have" is impact location on the putter face - eg. towards the toe and high on the face, or towards the heel, or even close to dead center.
  4. I'm more like a 97 shooter vs your 77, but if you haven't seen any of these passing along fyi a few resources I've found a lot of value in... 1. Golf State of Mind - mental game coaching strategies by David MacKenzie - some great info in the blog articles on his site.. .. golfstateofmind.com 2. Practical Golf - also some great blog articles, including a series on Course Management Strategies - cannot find that specific link right now, but all his article are collected under.. .. https://practical-golf.com/category/articles/ 3. DECADE (Scott Fawcett) - prob one of the most popular course management methods; see both... - https://www.birdiefire.com/about-decade and - https://decade.birdiefire.com/
  5. So speaking of pain relief... a while back my wife stumbled while walking the dogs and went to see the orthopedist I'd seen for my hip; he prescribed her a topical NSAID creme diclofenac sodium. Naturally I had to try it on all of my aches and pain points, and - it really seemed to help! Now, with the obvious caveat that what works for one golf dude may not work for another... ..it turns out you can now buy a 1% version OTC under the brand name "Voltaren" .. If you've tried other topicals, ibuprofen, etc .. or even CBD .. and are still hurting consider giving this one a try.
  6. I'd bought some Callaway stock 6 or 7 years ago when I'd first read about Top Golf - it seemed like a very cool thing that had potential (and for once I was right ) - and Callaway shares were the way to get a financial interest in it. Opinion: part of the reason for that sharp drop in share price when this was announced may be the merger is being seen as dilutive; that is, with the additional shares issued the corporate earnings are distributed over a larger base, so.. a potentially lower earnings per share, so.. a corresponding lower stock price. Anyway, financial b.s. aside I initially bought the shares as a very long-term investment ... so I'm also in the let's wait and see where this goes camp.
  7. Another fan of the Bag Boy Quad XL here .. have two of them picked up on sale 4 (I think?) years ago and they have been super dependable. Fyi I rarely use the brake. Figure out what features are most important to you, and then which brand comes closer to supplying them. * One of the best features of the Bag Boy, imo, is the "Top Lok" technology on the top bracket - if you have a bag with the same feature, or a recent stand bag, then it will slide into the top bracket and be held in place securely .. without the top strap .. so quick and easy on and off.
  8. Sounds about right - seems like the app compares your swing against a pre-defined model and then shows you the differences / variances. Seems like a reasonable conclusion!
  9. ^^ Lotta good info there, thx for adding to the discussion .. and happy you're happy with your ExPutt!!!
  10. First, I'd... 1. consider what I was looking to measure, ..and.. 2. look at what are the functional differences between those two devices .. if any .. and see if one is a better match for what I'm looking to do. Are there any - good, not malware - health apps you can download into your smartphone and do almost the same thing(s)? Then consider price. FWIW and to get it out of the way, while a large part of my working career was enmeshed in developing, improving and utilizing technology .. I currently lean heavily away from all the au-current over-sharing online of everything everywhere all the time (with, obviously, the big exception of the MGS Forums!).
  11. Meant for home practice; not in place of a quality fitting.
  12. Of course! But let's be clear I'm totally jealous of you golfers with a "distance problem"
  13. ..farged (technical medical term) my lower back so no playing and no swinging but did do some putting practice on the ExPutt.. ..random 5 to 10 footers, flat practice green, green speed 10 and only missed 6 out of 60 putts .. one at 3 feet, 1 at 1 1/2 feet, rest within inches .. so pretty happy with that as it's an improvement from where I'd started the ExPutt testing.
  14. Definitely! Thx for asking. Will post something under "Mental Game" and let you know.......
  15. That's pretty cool .. had not heard of CAPTO before. But.. I didn't see anything about impact location on the face..? That's a key piece of the putting puzzle, and knowing where your current tendency is can be a big help in deciding on more work on mechanics vs a new putter. And FYI.. if you haven't heard of the Blast Motion Golf sensor - check it out, I think you may really like it!
  16. Ok I did actually spend $$ the other day on a putter fitting .. way way way worth it - even though I walked out with my exact same putter! They have a Quintic system, and the fitter checked everything on the putter itself and then on me rolling 7, 3 and a few 20 foot putts. He showed me where the cluster of impacts on the face were .. and then suggested moving just a teeny bit back. We repeated everything and he happily stated your putter is just fine for you .. and now you're hitting everything really close to the center of the face. So I got _me_ adjusted
  17. I wanted to make a smarta** remark like "yeah that's my problem too" but I held back
  18. ^^ hah good thing I'm *always* prepared for foul .. or fair, for that matter .. weather ...
  19. OK, I did it ... a putter fitting ... Went in to a well-regarded independent local shop and came out with - just a small adjustment to my setup!! Now that may sound like nothing, but based on what the fitter was measuring .. and seeing .. before & after he determined that with the change I'm contacting the ball close to dead center on the face much more consistently ... which "should" (quote-unquote) help me improve both start line and speed control. And, interesting, re: my putter - originally I'd thought it might need to be adjusted +1* upright (thought the loft was good). Was also willing, going in, to trying out different putters. After analyzing my stroke and having me putt 7 and 3, plus a few 20, footers he determined that my current putter .. its style, length, lie and loft .. are a good match for me. Huh! So.. what was the setup change? Move back from the ball "a skosh". Seriously, that was what he said and what we worked on. Turned out to be about 1 cm, or just less than about 1/2 in. Before I'd been lining up with my dominant (left) eye over the ball -- now I'm lining up with my eyeline just on the inside edge of the ball. He showed me how to set up in front of a mirror to where I could see that the putterhead was perfectly flat to the ground, and also to get a view of the distance of my feet from the ball, and the angle of the shaft to the ground, as reference points. Have not been back out on the course yet, but definitely am practicing this at home!
  20. My first club review for MGS, a few years back, was the VKTR Hybrid. I thought it was a great club but unfortunately my golfing ability was nowhere near the level of the club.... Haven't looked at the new model but I assume (and hope) they moved one of the weights that was one the outside of the toe - the circular opening above the weight port would cause a "whistle" as you swung! I think (and hope) the better player testers will really enjoy it!
  21. So speaking (in another thread) of LM anomalies ... during my lesson (using a GC Quad in the GolfTec center) I hit a 170 yd 7 iron.... (yeah both the instructor and I were looking at it in disbelief, too!) Now note 1: no, I don't expect to *ever* repeat that trick; and note 2: yes, that is like 2 or more clubs longer vs my typical 7i!! We've been working on literally rebuilding my swing, with the primary goals of creating a better path coming into the ball along with a better weight shift starting at transition and continuing all the way through and past impact. Another key work-in-progress is extending my trail (right) elbow coming in to impact so that both arms are extended and I have a "wider swing arc". Well.. all of that good stuff must have come together in that one magical moment?!?!?
  22. For me - intermediate recreational bogey hacker (so you have the background ) - it's waaaaaay more short game and putting vs anything and everything else, then next come full swing drills (from my series of lessons). Occasionally I may get to the range and work on "challenge" drills; eg. hit 3 x 7 irons on to an imagined green at X yards, then hit 3 wedges 3 different distances (eg. ladder out, ladder back in), then hit 3 different wedges attempting to hit them the same distance, etc, etc. FYI, amongst many other resources I've read that Adam Young's "The Practice Plan" is really popular.
