Up next is the seasons second major, The 104th  PGA Championship at Southern Hills CC, Tulsa, OK.  A good many in the field are coming off a fantastic tune up at the ATT Byron Nelson and, most would think, the winner is among that group.  Last years unimaginable ending was really fun to watch but, unfortunately, there will be no chance of a repeat.  As a consolation prize however, Tiger Woods will tee it up and see if perhaps he can set yet another record.  Speaking of records, did you know that both Walter Hagen and Jack Nicklaus have won this event 5 times each? Or that Gene Sarazen, at 20 years old, became (and still remains) the youngest player to win this event?  I was 0-2 on these 😆.
The weather looks like it will be cooperating with only a chance of t-storms on Sunday. It should be a great event and hopefully a close contest leaving us all biting nails and crossing fingers and toes for our favorites to make the cut and be high up on Sunday's leaderboard.  I'm not quite sure who I'm picking yet but don't forget we have two pools this week you can be a part of; (Rob's Pool) and our weekly one below.

I think artificial would be the best way to go. I've been working at a golf course for a few years now and all the work that goes in to maintaining a good green takes time and patience that takes a special type of person haha

Week 5: The Honda (Carnage) Classic
After a pretty wild 72 holes with some very high scores from some great golfers, local Austrian and next door neighbor (country wise) to me and the first Austrian PGA Tour Winner Sepp Straka pulled up a great win! With a collapse by Berger and a steady Lowry in the final pairing Sepp managed to string together a great weekend and take home the win. 
Our high scoring team of the week goes to @Hobert with 195.7. He only had 4 make the cut, but had both Sepp and Lowry in the starting lineup who combined for greater then our league average which was at 120.55 (Sepp/Lowry earned just under 130 total). 
Also worth noting that nobody (obviously) broke the 220 barrier, which isn't a big surprise given the scores, but also for the first time nobody broke 200 which hasn't been too too hard to achieve with a typical league average of 160+. 
It was a pretty crazy week and a shout out to the other undefeated team @Gino5778. A lot of high scores and a lot of golf balls in the water, but overall a bit of a nice change of pace from the normal week to week events we see. 
Not many real standouts left on the wire this week, but given how many high scores maybe there were more then I'm listing here?

Now that we are a bit more then 5 weeks into this and nearing the first major and even though the playoffs are still some 20 weeks away I'm going to break the standings down a little differently to help aid in the playoff picture. As a reminder top 15 in both pools get in, top 10 total points scored in either pool after that also get in.Bonus points are earned for end of season standings.

@jddaigneault continues to lead the way for the second week in a row becoming our first back to back season leader, however his 10 game lead has been shrunk to just 1.

The next part is hard to lay out, but I'll do my best. (number on the left if it is 31 or more you are likely eligible for the fantasy points scored playoff spot) This is not fully broken down, but gives you a rough idea. 

As you can see our defending champ has climbed his way from the depths and is starting to gain some real ground... I'm scared... are you? haha

Unfortunately due to work/family/illness/baby and more I didn't watch a minute of golf this weekend so only have the leaderboard and mgs/fantrax threads to go off of so hope everyone who did watch enjoyed it!
We now move onto Bay HIll for the Arnold Palmer Invitational with some exciting players back in the fields and hopefully some great golf to come!

OK ya'll. Can't get enough of fantasy so I think I'm gonna start up a league for the real life playoffs as well. Here's some of the basics:
Free on MFL, no prize besides bragging rights Runs from WC through Super Bowl Total points scored during those 4 weeks is the winner, no H2H Stock PPR format Contest Style - Start anyone you want each round but you can only start a given player once during the playoffs No Draft Lineups are revealed to other owners as the players games start 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF + 1 Head Coach HC Scores 10 for a team win, 0 for a loss, then points differential is added. For example: if your HC wins by 14, they’ll score 24 points. If they lose by 3, they’ll score -3 points.

Pick trading is enabled so feel free to start making moves if you're interested. We're still workshopping playoff format so please stand by for that. League polls will go live tonight or tomorrow so get your last second suggestions in now.

It's actually set up to draft 8 rounds worth of players; 30 seconds per pick should help speed it along. So then we hit the wire for the remaining 2. The budget was $100 last year and we still had to go to the wire for the last 2 players so I don't see the need to change it again this year but suppose we can vote it out if enough people would like to see it included. Tbh, increasing the football budget was probably just inflation since so many bids were just enormous anyway. Slightly different there since there were 4 extra spots to fill in football and those "late round" guys can be great stashes for the season to come.
Corales Puntacana** will remain out of the schedule. It was voted out last year and we'll keep it that way for this year. Technically it counts as part of the PGA season but I'll go manually delete it out once we get a proper schedule generated. I don't think there's any other events we want to skip; bye weeks are boooorrrriiiinnngggg.
IR spot is OK to put to a vote. I'll personally vote it down since PGA injuries/COVID just aren't going to be the same as football but I'm still just one vote.

I think the extra amounts may be determined by how many spots we actually draft? If we draft 8 or 10 spots I don't think it will be that much extra. If we draft 6 of 10 then I would say it is safe to think we will get a extra 100? Golf is a longer season too and I think not last year but the year before we started with 200 FAAB. So maybe 200 is a safe number to think about going into the season?

Definitely no start limits. Great for circus and not so much for a main league. 

Trades: Draft pick trades please! Outside of that not much on that front. 

Will there be a IR or Covid spot? I know having 10 roster spots should be enough, but given the dynamics this year in football I think it would be a good to have. 

I like that we increased the win points to 10 and that should be a good bonus moving forward. Outside of that I think scoring is fair and has been. I know it will never happen because of the way it is done, but a player WD getting zero (example Rahm) is still one I wish we could see fixed one day. 

Finally the only thing I would mention from last year and I do agree with how we did it even tho there was some back and forth (again 10 spots should help) that we just give a quick glance at the schedule and if there are any dumpster events we do look at taking the week off in advance. Or maybe because we have 10 spots it is a tough luck, suck it up but we should all be aware of this well in advance and plan for it accordingly.

Reminder that the deadline to declare interest is Sunday Jan-2. 
 
At that point, we’ll randomize draft order and divisions then open polls for league vote on any possible scoring/format changes. To date, I have seen any special topics be suggested. That could be because we commisheses already made the hot button changes but I still want to put it out there in case anyone has a unique suggestion. 
 
Any special scoring rules you’d like to see? Trade limits? Player pitch counts? Other?

Have to say i really appreciate this message. It really doesn't take much to set a lineup and with so many ppl wanting to take part it really sucks when teams go MIA. Not just for the competitiveness of the league but also trading and overall engagement. 
Only question I have is if there are any will it be a option as was last season to replace a owner midseason? 

Just putting this out there for everyone, right now this is going to be the biggest league we've ever undertaken on this forum for fantasy sports, but with that comes a double edge sword. I'm not saying this to threaten teams, but to set in the sand what our expectations are of you as players.
We'll be busy behind the scenes trying to get everything to work, but if you give up on this league I personally guarantee you won't be asked back or allowed in any other fantasy league we do. Be competitive and try, that's what we ask, if you can't make that low bar, we have no problem cutting you loose at season's end.

This was certainly the most intense fantasy football season from recent memory so Bob, you really REALLY earned this championship to get through all of the uncertainty and constant pivots we had to navigate this year. You're a worthy champion and should be proud of the accomplishment.
Special thanks to everyone that participated this year. It was our biggest league to date and, arguably, the smoothest from start to finish....except for all of the COVID and injury craziness. It's good to see us settling into a steady and reliable format that scales up or down evenly as the league continues to grow. This was also our first paid year so I'm particularly thankful for zero controversy. Also immensely thankful to @Berg Ryman and @Undershooter for sharing the commissioner load. There's a lot of bad ideas that thankfully die before seeing the light of day 😀
To the 16 players that earned payouts of some sort, I'll be sending those via the Fantrax Treasurer. Unsure if they'll be sent back to your method of payment or end up in a Fantrax balance that you need to extract; we'll be figuring this part out together.
Edit: Wed Jan 5, 2022 8:00 PM EST is the official end of the season so I have to wait until then to issue payments
