  1. Just had my second child in 3 years (I'm an old parent lol). Playing less than I ever have. Used to be in 3 weekday leagues, skins on Sat, various scrambles etc. on Sun. Now I find myself needing a sub for my only league/day I play. Obviously the game has suffered tremendously. Last Thursday on 9 holes, par 35 I shot a 37 with three birdies. Not upset with the 37, but the triple and the double certainly stung a little. Especially when the triple was a snowman on a par 5 that I am usually hitting an 8 iron into the green on my 2nd shot. The whole season has been nothing but blow-up holes killing my round. Not considering giving it up, but I really need to make time to put in more practice. Maybe a home sim that I can set up next to the nursery

  3. I've been buying up all the "Fresh as Helles" by Sam Adams. It is truly a fresh unique flavor that I enjoy. I have 3 cases in the bar and I'm looking for as much as I can find. I hope they bring it back in my area next year.
  4. My brother and I spent Easter with some family in Georgia. Played Harbor club at lake Oconee. In 18 holes I had more 3 putts than I did all of last year (not really). It was the first time that I couldn't "figure out" the greens by the end of a round. Speed was solid after 3 or 4 holes but I saw breaks that weren't there, and there were plenty I didn't see. I ended up attempting to ram in 5 footers to take out the break but was severely punished on misses due to the greens rolling like they were concrete. Made me realize that when away from the type of greens in Ohio I really suck at putting. It was fun though, and I beat my brother
  5. If they made an anodized green I'd be tempted.
  6. Four Roses single barrel is a fine Bourbon. I have had it on many occasions and think very highly of it. I lived in Bowling Green, KY for about 5 years and did my best to sample all the Bourbon that I could . My go-to has always been Maker's Mark.
  7. I have a gap between 200 and 220 in my bag. I can lay off my hybrid but the results aren't what you would call consistent. The cheap route would be another sldr hybrid in a higher loft but I really want one of those Ping crossovers. Hope to see the used price drop now that they are plentiful on ebay.

    is Tiger Done?

I am a big Jack fan. That part of me roots against Tiger. Having said that I hate to see a talent as miraculous as his fade from relevance. So I guess I hope he wins again (just no more majors) and dominates on the senior tour.
  9. Just picked up a phantom futura on ebay for 45 bucks. Will be pulling the shaft and sending it to get re-coated as soon as it arrives. I'm thinking Masters green/yellow.
  10. Feeling pretty good. Just had my first under par round of the year last night. Granted the course wasn't very difficult (115 slope). Par 72, I managed a 70 with a 7 on a par 4 (ob). This has been an awfully poor season for me thus far. While I have broken in to the 70's on a few occasions, I have been primarily scoring in the 80's. So I hope I can keep everything working to some extent lol.
  11. Funny, I just watched a golf channel piece with Johnny Miller discussing this very topic. Jack Nicklaus played every shot with the ball opposite a point just inside his left heel. Johnny hit his higher clubs toward the center gradually moving the ball toward his left foot as the lofts decreased.
  12. Yesterday afternoon I received a call from by brother asking me to cover for him in a 9 hole two man scramble skins league. His partner was draining putts from all over the place. We carded a 28 and got the only two skins. I can't tell you how many 4 man-18 hole scrambles I've played in and only carded 8 under (or less). So it was fun.
  13. My 3rd time out. 45 degrees and a slight breeze. Still snow on the ground in shaded areas, but the course played relatively well. While I was pleased with my short game (which was certainly improved by slow/soft conditions), I struggled with keeping still in my transition. Driver/long irons were not cooperating. Shot an 80 (+8). I'm pleased considering its only a few strokes off my hcp. I am certain my worst golf is yet to come
  14. I have had this conversation with my brother who is a graduate of the pgm program at OSU, and is now a club pro at a local course. His response was that the shaft will wear out long before the clubhead will. He used a spring analogy. A spring stretched and compressed over time will lose tension, thus the flexibility will increase over time. He did add that he comes across bent hosels quite often, and that could be considered wear I suppose.
