  1. Just finished a round in possibly the most wind I have ever played in. Sustained at 25 to 30 and gusts near 50. It was a battle but thanks to making some putts I got in with 75. I hit a wedge downwind into a par 3 from 192 and on the next hole I hit driver, 5 wood and wedge to a 328 yard hole. The driver went 190 dead into the wind. It was not the most enjoyable round of golf to say the least.
  2. Well he was in fact using the LS. https://golf.com/gear/the-masters-2024-nicklaus-player-watson-honorary/?amp=1
  3. I wish my wife got a picture of this but she didn’t. My St. Bernard likes to be outside in the yard a lot. When the weather is nice I just open the sliding door and let him come in and out as much as he wants to. Well today I was home working in my office and let him out and for about two hours I could hear him coming in and out several times, nothing out of the ordinary. My wife got home and was in the family room and noticed all his toys were gone. Comes into my office to ask me if I moved them and well the answer was no. She goes out in the yard and he took about 10 of his toys out in the yard and had them in a circle around him while he lounged in the sun. Not playing with them just brought them out to sit with him outside. Oh and his other new skill is trying to dig a tunnel under my fence to visit the dog next door. The dog next door is a 220 lb. Mastiff so it is gonna be a big tunnel. This dog is going to be the death of me, but he is really a good boy some times.
  4. No idea on model but would assume it is not the LS Story from last year on how little he now plays. https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/sports/pga/2023/10/31/jack-nicklaus-has-not-swung-a-golf-club-since-tee-shot-at-the-masters/71383715007/
  5. For anyone that may have missed the opening tee shot ceremony at the Master’s Jack was rocking a Qi10 on the first tee.
  6. Got out an hit about 10 balls yesterday and then shut it down. Apparently I am too old for long car rides and I need a week to recover. Hoping that I will still be able to play on Saturday but it is not looking good right now.
  7. Actually both. Will have some sponsorship at the tracks and more importantly an anchor sponsor for a car. Going through the process now of marking up the design for the car, team shirts and a fire suit.
  8. Hoping to sign the contract today to lock in a sponsorship for Dover, Pocono, Richmond and Daytona in the Cup series. Just got the first rendering of the car from our creative team and it is pretty cool. Had to pivot off of Charlotte but it all worked out and have an option for a few end of year races at a decent discount. Some days at work are more fun than other days.
  9. Plan was to get out and test today now that I am back from my three day drive to and from Charlotte. Unfortunately that is not going to happen and I really don’t see me doing much for the rest of the day besides napping and watching golf. 30 hours in the car over three days is apparently more than my limit these days. Hoping to get to the range a few days this week before I play Saturday morning.
  10. From a cosmetic perspective 100%, this maybe the best looking driver I have ever played. Will have to wait until my final review to find out if the performance matches the looks.
  11. Made it back to NY and just rolled out of bed which may be the latest I have slept in for the last decade. Left Thursday morning for a drive from LI to Charlotte and drove back yesterday. Finally able to admit that I have a road trip limit and it is about half the distance that I just drove. I don’t plan to do much at all today.
  12. Today is a road trip with my son from NY to Charlotte for a college visit. Going to be a long ride and thanks to my son we did leg day together today. I will accept our thoughts and prayers that I can get since I may not be able to walk tomorrow. My son now understands country strong and I now understand that I am no longer 18 years old anymore.
  13. Still negotiating. Selfishly I will be taking a few few pit passes for me and the kids. Going to take Reilly to Dover, Michael to Charlotte and Candace to Pocono. Hopefully I can get Daytona so my wife can go.
  14. Added a new title today at work today. I am apparently now the NASCAR liaison. Put in a bid today to sponsor a team for four races and if all goes well we will be running Dover, Charlotte, Pocono and Daytona. Some projects are more fun than others and when it comes to this one they just found the redneck in the room to git er done.
  15. Outside of golf I am normally a taxi driver for my daughters which is a good bit of my free time. When I can get some other time away I am either at the range shooting, the other range shooting trap or wrenching on a car. I have become fairly boring as I have gotten older.
  16. Good morning Spies. Up early, got to the gym and now onto the work day. Finally after four months working from home and I have settled into a schedule. As a plus most days I have a giant snoring St. Bernard sitting in my office with me all day which always makes the day better. Hope everyone has a good day.
  17. Yes I am. Played Indian Island today out in Riverhead.
  18. Played a course today that for years I have wanted to play and just never drove out to play it. Liked the layout a lot and will go back when the weather warms up a bit and it is not blowing 30mph. Overall I played decent and shot +2 74 in what felt like a matter of survival on the front 9. The back nine turns inland off the water and it was a lot more playable…and a touch warmer. Iron swing feels good and my short game is coming around. Worked with a pro buddy of mine this week over video and getting back to striking the ball like I should. Top end of the bag still needs some work though.
  19. Two holes to illustrate the bad. Both of these drives missed well wide right. In fairness this was the miss on both holes but it is favor the right side not miss the target by 50 yards right.
  20. Got out and played this morning in the freezing cold and high winds. It was a bit of a mixed bag today and the good was very good and the bad was mediocre at best. I am still fighting my swing with the longer clubs and getting stuck a few times a round…which I guess is better than every swing with a club above a 5 iron. Was also the first round since the reshaft and from a numbers perspective I am sold on the shaft, but not from an on course perspective. The front nine was a struggle but did hit a few nice drives on the back nine. Did not think the green side bunker was in play with a left to right cross wind. Going to keep working at it to see if I can improve on the bad or at least get more of the good out of this driver.
  21. I was playing baseball at the time the Oakley phase hit the US in the 90's and had a coach that was also a coach for the LA Angels at the time so I became hooked really easily on Oakley which is why it is all I were. My first few pairs were the M frames with the heater lenses that I can still remember Tony Gwynn wearing. I would guess I have somewhere north of 100 pairs that I have accumulated over the last 30 years but for golf I primarily wear the golf prizm lenses in either the normal or the dark lenses. I did just pick up a pair that were retro to the original Razrs as I just couldn't help myself. My wife says I am like 20 years to old to wear them. My favorite pair are the David Duval signature M frames that get cracked out once or twice a year.
  22. Somehow lost the Arccos sensor off of my five wood and was able to get a full replacement set through the TaylorMade deal for $10. Trying to get back to using data to help my game.
  23. If that is the case I may be in. My March and April trips to VA have not come to fruition so I have some time available. The plans I had for that weekend have also shifted so some would say the stars are aligning.
  24. Up early this morning at 5 AM and set an alarm for 6:30 to get to the gym in case I dosed off on the beanbag in the TV room (happens a lot these days). Well let's just say that AM/PM thing makes a difference. Ended up sleeping until 7:30 then showered and got to my desk so gym time this afternoon I guess. At least my dog was happy that he got to sleep in a bit this morning on the beanbag and is now back to sleep next to my office desk. Hope everyone has a great day and a relaxing weekend.
  25. Hope a shaft change can for you can yield similar results as to what I am seeing after making a change. Get my first round tomorrow on the course with the new setup and hoping it is as good on course as it is on the range.
