  1. If that is the case I may be in. My March and April trips to VA have not come to fruition so I have some time available. The plans I had for that weekend have also shifted so some would say the stars are aligning.
  2. Up early this morning at 5 AM and set an alarm for 6:30 to get to the gym in case I dosed off on the beanbag in the TV room (happens a lot these days). Well let's just say that AM/PM thing makes a difference. Ended up sleeping until 7:30 then showered and got to my desk so gym time this afternoon I guess. At least my dog was happy that he got to sleep in a bit this morning on the beanbag and is now back to sleep next to my office desk. Hope everyone has a great day and a relaxing weekend.
  3. Hope a shaft change can for you can yield similar results as to what I am seeing after making a change. Get my first round tomorrow on the course with the new setup and hoping it is as good on course as it is on the range.
  4. Have or will???? Both are not rational numbers for one golf club.
  5. I now have mine set at standard loft and in the upright setting. The weight is all the way towards the heel and getting some good results. This was from my range session this morning and finally getting the window I want with some tweaks. The shaft experiment is also showing promising results. I did play with the weight a little bit today and went center to toe to heel with varying results. For me it seemed to affect club delivery more than shot shape. Weight in the toe was just not great at all and I felt like I had to smother the ball to get what I wanted out of it. Center is fine but heel just allows me to turn it over a bit easier and I can still hit a fade if I have to.
  6. It is the thought that counts. Got to the course and the moose out front told me they were closed for the day so I went to the range and hit some balls. Heck, was already up and dressed for the weather anyway. Now for my old man grumbling. They have a website, email system and social media….couldn’t just one person post they were closed for the day??? I get we had rain and it is cold but I have played the course after much worse weather. I think I have played there in much worse weather.
  7. Tee time is for 7:40 AM today after getting rained out yesterday. This should be fun
  8. Bought a test to be disclosed driver shaft for the Qi10 LS. Will be a lot different than what I would normally play so for $50 it was worth a flyer. If it works it could be a new trend for the top end of my bag.
  9. Tons of rain today so hoping to be able to play tomorrow but right now not looking promising. I did however decide to try and experiment with this driver that I will give a go either on the range or golf course tomorrow. Bought a shaft today that would be the lightest driver shaft I have ever played from a manufacturer that I have played a bit in the past. Going to keep the specs under wraps until I get out and see if it has any promise. The idea is to introduce a touch more speed and some launch to see if I can really unlock the potential of this driver. Just got done with the build so it will be ready to go by morning.
  10. It was indoors at a shop near me on Long Island. Not saying anything was wrong with the machine just seeing different results outdoors than I am indoors.
  11. Just got back from the range and man was it cold….why in the hell did I move back north???? Aside from that the results were good and for the rest of this testing period the only numbers I am going to focus on are Arccos numbers. I recreated the toe shot from last night that was falling out of the sky on Trackman outdoors and it was completely different. Temps are high 30’s straight into a 10-15 mph breeze and I was clearing the end of the range at 235 with a 35 foot net with no issue. My sense is somewhere around a 260ish carry with a cold range ball …not bad at all. I know everyone wants numbers and data as do I but the fact of the matter is this driver performs (for me anyway) a lot better hitting shots than beating balls to get data. I hit maybe 25 drives and only about two were on the unacceptable scale and 16-18 were an A+. Playing Sunday in the cold and wind and very excited to see how it performs in fairly awful weather. I was going to play tomorrow in the rain for that comparison but I am just not that crazy or dedicated.
  12. Hit some balls on Trackman tonight with both the Qi10 and the TSR3. One thing that is starting to stand out for me with the Qi10 is the deviation in spin. When it is good it is really good….but when it is bad it is really bad. I removed three balls on my set with the Qi10 and still had close to 1,000 rpms in spin deviation compared to less than 300 rpms with the TSR3. Keep in mind I am not all over the face with either driver so it is a bit concerning. The three that I removed were not missed poorly just had numbers that were so far out of the norm that it was further skewing the data. Just for fun I hit three balls with both drivers toe side and high. The TSR3 was playable and carried out on average 277 yards. The Qi10 had two that were playable and one that fell out of the sky and spun at 1,400 rpm’s. The toe miss is really starting to scare me as that is my normal miss and just can’t have that one fall out of the sky. More testing to do but my swing is about where it needs to be and the speed is building so more to come.
  13. My 15 year old daughter decided she wanted to get back into golf and play in high school. Been a journey to get her swing back but a week into practice she was the one girl not on the starters list that got to play a practice round yesterday. Due to time they only play three holes and she played the mini round in +3 which is not bad for a kid that up until 5 weeks ago had not picked up a club in over three years. Her goal is to crack into the lineup by the end of the season and if she keeps going the way she is that is an attainable goal. She is having a lot of fun and hope she sticks with it, has a lot of potential and can get really good really fast.
  14. First time I have seen one in the wild on the used rack. Nice savings on a driver that looked like it was barely hit. The person that traded it in likely lost about five hundred bucks on the purchase and trade in.
  15. Hoping to hit a small bucket tonight when I pick my daughter up from golf practice. Right now temps are low 40's and windy so it will be a game time decision.
  16. For a low spin head the LS is fairly forgiving. Still not a driver I would put in someone’s hands that is all over the face but for a decent ball striker this will stay in play. On Saturday I battled getting stuck on the downswing mid round and my worst miss was five yard right of the fairway. Contrast this to say the Epic Flash SZ and it is night and day. The only miss that seems to be a struggle with the driver for me is high toe and that is a running trend for me and LS heads. The spin just does not get high enough with that miss to get the distance out of it but it does stay in play just 20 yards short.
  17. I am not really a lesson guy nor have I ever been, maybe have had 10 actual lessons in the 40+ years I have played the game. I have a pro that looks at my swing and tells me what is off and that seems to work. Early season I have been struggling with getting stuck under the ball with the longer clubs and the fix was simple.....open my stance a bit as I was closed and not rush the transition. Went to the range yesterday with my daughter and I was back to where I needed to be. Amazing how such a small change can make such a big difference. Start line was where it needed to be and the distance that I attributed to early season rust is back.
  18. First round of golf today with the Qi10 and it has a lot of potential is what I can say. Early season rust and some swing flaws did not help nor did a completely soaked golf course but I kept it in play all day. Ripped a bomb on 3 that would have been well above three bills if it didn’t plug. Another drive although not to impressive in distance was directly into the wind and had zero roll. Pay no mind to the chunked wedge that was in a divot and not one that was filled. Round 1 was a success in my book with an even par day and lots to build on. I will say that for an LS head it is surprising how forgiving the head is. I battled a few swings where I was just getting stuck under the ball and I was able to keep it playable. Mind you these were not bombs off the tee but I didn’t drop a shot and I was able to play the next shot with no issues. Top Golf tomorrow and maybe a twilight round during the week before my next round on Saturday.
  19. If everyone commits to playing back that day I would do the drive up and back just to watch the carnage I am still at the point that I can play just about anywhere from the tips but as I am getting older I seem to enjoy it a bit less than I used to. Playing Bethpage Black in a few weeks and not sure the tips are for me anymore.
  20. Up early today for my first round of golf on Long Island in over two years. Playing at the first course I played when I moved up here over 12 years ago and sadly have not played there in almost 9 years or so. Time to start knocking off the winter rust and figure out what I need to work on.
  21. Got in a small bucket today while my daughter was at golf practice and I can’t say enough how stable this driver is in the wind. Blowing steady at 15 to 20 in and from the right and didn’t miss one drive out of the dozen or so I hit. Now that the weather is warming up a bit I can start getting some true results as well as practice a bit more. First actual round with the Qi10 is tomorrow morning and also my first round of golf on Long Island in over two years.
  22. Rough morning today. Was driving back from the gym and had a bad creak start in the front end of my truck. Assumed it was just a ball joint or something that needed some grease. Nope, front passenger axle is blown out and needs to be replaced. On top of that three of the four tires on my truck are blown apart on the inside wall which is terrifying. Not too disappointed since I got 78k miles out of them just more terrified that I have been driving it like that for God knows how long. Nice big truck repair bill to end my week was not really what I was hoping for
  23. Not surprising here is my result. Same answer as when I did their actual in person fitting.
  24. My daughter is now a week into golf practice for high school and she is hooked. Got her back to the range a few weeks ago and just let her figure it out and swing her swing. Only tips I gave was grip and balance then let her go. She is absolutely just a natural athlete and can take pointers and incorporate them into her swing. After school before golf practice she goes down to the indoor putting green and rolls putts for half an hour or so each day. Kid is a perfectionist and wants to master an imperfect sport. When I got done with work today she wanted to watch golf with me and was asking a lot of questions. She told me today in a year I will be giving her shots so the gauntlet has been thrown down. Personally I hope this is the case since if she does that I won’t be paying a dime for college
