  1. Going to close this up end of day today and we will look to announce our selected tester Friday!
  2. Want to shout out and thank everyone for contributing so far! There will be servesl reports and articles written on these and very much looking forward to the official release from Titleist. For those who haven't done the form yet please do asap! For the 5 of us that don't have the golf balls yet they have be resent. Fingers crossed!
  3. I don't know all the ins and outs, but they must have legal ability to do so. I don't think personally it will be a huge driver of sales.. at least in my opinion. I don't care so much, but I wouldn't be enticed by much anything that has Jack or his companies name on it. I know or have listened to a little about the legal stuff, however can't comment on it fully as I don't have a full working knowledge of the situation.
  4. Exactly and I have seen many answers of well move up a set of tees. However this is easier said than done and in some cases there isn't that option. All this being said I am willing to see how this all plays out and if it all does take effect in 6 years then I will be 41 and loosing some distance already so I will just chalk it up to getting old. Till then I will play the golf balls I like playing (shout out vice!) and enjoying the distances I have.
  5. Thankfully you have roughly 6 years to loose all those golf balls before this will come into play.
  6. Good morning all! We have another forum staff article that can use a little community love! For those DIY guys let us know if you want to see more of these! https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/how-to-regrip-a-golf-club/ Check it out!
  7. https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/how-to-regrip-a-golf-club/ We have another article which we would love our community to chime in on! In what we hope to be a new series on the forum and main site we will be writing about some golf building and DIY projects which have been talked about, requested and more! This was a fun article to write and thankfully I had some extra shafts which were bent and I could regrip for photos and videos. If you are interested in seeing more articles like this written by the MGS Forum staff let us know!
  8. Heading into 2024 Invision (the platform the Forum runs one) has some very large and exciting updates. The staff are preparing for several of these changes and while they won't change anything in terms of usability we do expect there to be many updates which will tweak your user experience. If you are interested in reading about some of these changes you can find most if not all of them here: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/invision-community/introducing-a-fresh-new-vision-for-invision-community-5-r1287/ While we go through these changes we are also going to take the time to edit/update the forum to organize it in a more user friendly manner. Throughout all these changes if you have questions please reach out to myself or any of the other staff members if you have questions. Prior to us making any of these bigger scale changes we will make an announcement so one day you don't just come to the forum and it is all different. We do our best to keep the community in the loop and be as transparent as possible. We are extremely excited for 2024 from a Member Testing standpoint to these updates to the forum and a lot more which the staff are working on. Thank you all!
  9. I kinda want to hear a full recap (again) and play by play of @GolfSpy SAM first time breaking 80 round. The video is worth about 10k words, but I am sure he could maybe pair it down to 9998.
  10. To an extent sure, don't have to tell them something hard I want or need this. Of course if there is a club you are dreaming about then get fit for that. I will always be of the mind you need to keep options open and use what is best for you regardless of brand etc. However there are some (and nothing wrong with it) that have an allegiance to certain brands or types of gear. I guess what I am trying to say that in my experience for fittings there needs to be clear communication on what the golfer wants to get out of the fitting, what their budget is and their perceived state of game. The fitter also needs to have clear communication on what they are doing, why they are doing it and the reasoning to the outcome. There is nothing worse than a golfer leaving a fitting with just as many if not more questions than they had going in.
  11. We have heard a lot of stories from members over the years, but what was your best golf story from this last season?
  12. Going to leave this open for say 3 more days then go through it with the staff and make a decision. Will be highlighted in tomorrow's newsletter so be sure to get your submission in asap before the flood of others come in!
  13. I would say depends on the person. Of course they will play a part and role. The situation I am referring to is a high handicapper who is going in first time, little knowledge and has an improving game.
  14. Thanks Jason for doing this write-up. I know you are a little bias having taken part in it, but what a cool experience for all. Was nice to see all this in one recap as it was a busy thread to day the least.
  15. Golf is hard enough. Trying to make equipment less forgiving is not a solution. Yes the game has evolved and changed over the years, but show me a sport that hasn't? It's not a bad thing to evolve and adapt and we can't blame equipment manufacturers. They are trying to improve and make the game easier and better for us (while making a ton of money along the way). All while staying within the rules.
  16. Depends on who we are talking about. However for arguments sake lets say this person has golfed several times whether that be starting this year or over the years and has some semblance of a swing. Or at the very least generally know what they are doing. That should be the type of golfer that is at least having this debate. That being said, fitting first. Not a full bag, shaft type, grip type data fitting. A simple lets get the right length and lie angle for the swing fitting. This can be done with a used set of clubs or someone looking for a new set. However these two basic aspects of a fitting will help them progress a lot faster in their game improvement. Lessons with poorly fit clubs in length and lie will make them form bad habits and adapt to equipment that is less natural for their swing.
  17. I really liked the XR16 as well. I had that for a good while as my gamer and it was just a good sleak driver that worked well. Pretty simple too. While I did find good gains with Epic, Rogue and Epic Flash were certainly not for me. Mavrik was solid and I did like it overall. same with Epic Max LS. That was nice despite the shape not being my favorite. I wanted to love Rogue Max LS and tried it. The feel was great, but there wasn't the leap over the previous versions. Paradym was a hit from the start for me. Can't wait to get the new shaft in it as well!
  18. I definitely think the opposite. For many that I play with if they loose some distance they are going to miss that... a lot. They are going to want to swing harder to regain that lost distance and could lead to more wild swings and more off line shots. Unless we are talking 50 yard difference for the average golfer lost balls and balls being searched for is still going to be what it is. That won't change and it will still be very course dependent. The solution there is more red stakes less OB and what we have which is "biotope" essentially red stake and no go zone at all. I know they say most won't loose much if any, which fair enough. See it to believe it. However so many I play with have zero distance issue. Of the 80 rounds I played this season with 100s of different golfers there were 3 that I said over powered the course. Both were higher handicaps and erratic off the tee, but they also played the one ups. Moving them back (which we did for future rounds) actually helped because they played the tees which were more suited to their distance. The third golfer was myself and depending on the tees I could easily leave driver at home. 80% of the others I played with were thrilled with a green in reg and pars. Often needing to play bogey golf and too young to move up to senior tees or just didn't have the distance to make the holes play as their par intended. We still had a ton of lost balls and distance was not a factor there.
  19. There are definitely two schools of thought on it. Here is my take which of course you can take it or leave it. Fittings can be beneficial for all. Regardless of skill level and handicap. A good fitter should be able to see what they are working with and help educate the golfer on why they are being fit in to club X with setting X over Club Y and setting Y. There must be discussion and feedback between both sides in order to make a higher handicap fitting work. If it is all one sided then there is no way value will come out as expected. I say this from personal experience both being fit and being the fitter. It certainly can be a challenge, but simple things such as length and lie can go a long way to help a high handicapper. Forget weight and shafts and all that stuff. A high handicap fitting I believe should be paired down a bit with the focus on simpler club fixes, not to mention those (length and lie) are ones that can be adjusted, adapted and changed as the golfer progresses and gets better. Just my two cents.

  21. To my knowledge TaylorMade is the only company that offers the non velocore ventus.
  22. Oh don't get me started on reviving old threads .... @GolfSpy BOS
  23. Not to get off track, but there needs to be loft obviously, but differences in loft for putters are overblown. Head over the community call thread, in the red box there will be a LAB Community Call link. Check it out and give it a listen as I don't want to mislead what he was actually saying.
  24. Scratch that the info is right there https://newtonshafts.com/products/motion-driver-shaft
