  1. Appreciate it gents. Golf trip is this coming weekend!
  2. On the range whether practicing or warming up I’m picking two targets to call the fairway. Trying to keep it between the two. On the range you can lay a blanket over 98% of them. My shot is either a straight ball or a little fade with all clubs. My course driver ball is a GIANT block slice- like a fairway over it off the course.
  3. Hey y’all. Been a couple years since I’ve been active here but trying to get back. In my hiatus from MGS I didn’t get better. I’m probably not alone but who struggles from the range to the course? I used to be pretty good, and still am usually, but I have MAJOR driver issues (tee ball in general). I can pound driver on the range and never miss one and walk to the first hole and hit 14 balls that never smell the fairway. It’s maddening. Have gotten lessons for the same thing to happen. It literally is costing me 10-12 shots per round and I’ll shoot 85 with the trouble. Anyone know a good psychiatrist?

  6. Edwin Watts is nice if you know for sure you’re buying a club like you said. UFit is nice if you just want to try something but until they can match the majority of a golfers specs, you will be left unsure if the club totally matches what you need. I think they will get there, they have to in my opinion for the program to be successful, but right now it’s not Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  7. More great info! I’m going to go through a shaft fitting soon so trying to make sure I know what’s happening if I didn’t purchase through the fitter Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  8. Awesome! Thanks for the info Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  9. Please correct me if I’m wrong but it is my understanding with today’s drivers that are all adjustable, that each manufacturer has a special adapter/tip so they fit correctly in their own driver? So im to assume I can’t just go buy a shaft and put it in so how does this work? If I want to buy a driver shaft myself after a fitting per se, do I have to buy it from the manufacturer? Assuming the tip isn’t removable from the stock shaft. Am I crazy?
  10. It says very clearly that shaft options will be available in 2019. Go hit the clubs it selected for you though, im gonna bet you won’t be as dissapointed Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  11. Go with something that will shave strokes. Based on your stats set a goal. If you get up and down 50% of the time set a goal for 75% or more greens or less putts. Simple things that will consistently get you under 80 and shave strokes Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  12. I think ideally you would want to work it in both directions. Initially they have it configured that TGF drives you to Global and we have reviewed that and the kinks it has. The next step is expanding to the other companies and working backwards. Have them put on their sites or in stores a link/banner/ad to go to TGF to find your fit, and then driven back to the site to buy/test/etc. it’s probably not enough to have TGF that will need its own marketing to become aware that the site exists. If they are gonna drive people to Global and the Utry program, Global has to drive people to TGF (and then back). Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  13. I’m a pretty experienced golfer, played a ton over the years and played competitively in college but growing up I was never a tech junkie or equipment junkie. My family was on a budget, I played the clubs that my grandpa could get from the pro shop or something we found discounted. I played stock everything. So even now, I don’t know a ton about clubs, how the compare differently for each player, shafts etc. I mean I only found out last year I should probably play 1-2 degrees up on my irons and have only been on a real launch monitor once. THe great part about TGF for me is it offered 2 heads that I may never have considered In the future, if/when TGF adds some shaft options it’s going to be a real game changer. As I said in my review I’m lost when it comes to shafts, I know I’m stiff, maybe XS but there’s so many ever changing choices so I can feel your friends pain! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  14. Well I can certainly say that I’ve had my eye on the F8+ just from the reviews and conversations on this forum. Had I went the traditional route I would have definitely wanted to at least try it and could see myself ending up with. That’s not to say there isn’t a driver out there that would reduce my spin, narrow my dispersion and add distance that isn’t a cobra. As for the shaft I want to get fit to see if there’s a shaft that suits me Better. Global was limited in their shaft options obviously and had we not been with MGS I’m not sure I could’ve got a stiff shaft from them and honestly I probably need an XS. So to answer your question...I’m not sure but I could def see myself ending up with the Cobra as an option Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  15. Welcome from Knoxville. I’ve played a few in middle TN. Always a good time Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  16. So how did you win/not win money? Just card games and such? Just interested in all the events. So cool you attended Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  17. It was mostly just their live story/video. THe were live during pretty much the entire auction and then a little bit with the card games. That’s just what I watched. There may have been even more Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  18. Ahhh so just locals. The ole lucky locals Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  19. Saw the testers party on IG. Man that looked like a blast!! I want the scoop! Just for locals? Just for testers? But seriously it looked like everyone was having such a good time. Would love a rundown of the nights events and the games! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  20. When I bomb one past someone I go with: “Did you hear about that new Walmart they are building?” No where is it? “Between my ball and yours!” This is a favorite that I’ll never forget the faces on my dad and uncles face when I hit each of them with it Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  21. This is a nice idea. For me it felt like as soon as I got the club I was getting emails that my trial was about to expire so it felt really short. However, I have to look at this like a consumer. For us testers we obviously started this process in October/November. Knowing my golf season it wouldn’t be very wise for me to order a club with a trial period in winter. I would obviously be more interested in spring and summer and while I was very excited to use it the weather didn’t cooperate a ton. I got a windy cool day to hit the range and a frozen greens day to play lol So while I feel like 2 weeks wasn’t enough, if I was ordering this on my dime and would’ve been more anxious to get out immediately and would’ve ordered during golf season and when I knew I was playing and probably felt like 2 was plenty. They shipped it very quickly and I got my club in about two days which is great for planning. That would’ve easily allowed me to schedule a couple rounds/range sessions during the trial I said all that to say this, I think 2 weeks is probably fine. An extra charge would be a great idea to keep for an extra week or so. **by no means am I complaining about the time we are going through this lol. Just trying to show difference if I were a consumer versus a tester of when global gave us this opportunity! Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  22. Was coming to post today but just hadn’t had time. I got to play today. Weather didn’t get above 50 until 18...so it was a cold, heavy, cloudy day. This was my first day on the course in 2.5 months and first with the Cobra F8+. I had the driver set to 9.5 deg draw, trying something new bc my miss is right. Warmed up well, hit a little heel cut down 1 and off we go. Long story short, I made 3 bad swings today with the driver. I know they were bad swings bc I felt them immediately. Sometimes I just get lazy swinging the club. I’ll reinforce what I said in my stage 1. This driver spins less, which is exactly what I need. One of the bad swings was my typical big balloon right ball and although it was still bad, it didn’t go nearly as far right as normal. 12,13,14 i hit the ball really well but just hadn’t it going a little left so on 15 I set the face to neural and BOOM! Longest drive of the day. I hit it well on 17, 18 too. What I’ve learned: It spins less It sits great Good feel and is forgiving What I haven’t learned: Based on the weather it was hard to tell if my distance is consistent. My solid drives felt great and looked great, maybe a touch spinny I’m still interested in getting a legitimate shaft fitting to make sure I’m maximizing the shaft/head option Regardless, today was one of the better driving days in quite some time. Still about a B- but progress Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  23. I was finally able to get a halfway decent day today although the wind was really up. I warmed up about as quick as I ever have so I could get straight to the F8+. First swing...BAM! Straight and loooong. Let me preface by saying I am a range savant. I’d be top 10 in the world if there was a PGA tour for range golf. I hit quite a few balls just to get used to it not really comparing it to my Ping. With no data whatsoever to back me up I will say I felt like I noticed a couple things: A much tighter dispersion, more accuracy than normal. Lower launch Less spin Those are things I felt were happening. There were quite a few shots that I felt with the left to right wind that were able to not spin with the wind and sort of fought against it. I tend to fade the tee ball. I’m hoping to play Friday and if so, I can fire up the Arcoss that came with it and really get some data Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  24. I hope that’s the same case for me. I’ve struggled for a long time with the driver but it’s definitely the “Indian and not the arrow” situation. Unfortunately I haven’t got to hit a single ball with it and I’m dying to. The weather has been just terrible for weeks Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
