  1. I have blown on MCC +4 with no issue. Just make sure you prep the shaft well to remove any oils etc. I usually use acetone and then I torch it to burn off any residual oil or reside. Just a quick once over with my little butane torch.
  2. I received my box a few days ago. I received the Tour B RSX based on the questionnaire. You all know by now what the box looks like. I have played Bridgestone balls before. The last time I played them was the B330S years ago. First impressions: The ball feels like it has a matte or textures feeling to it. I am not sure if it is the dimples since they seem fairly flat with different size dimples. Nothing that would impact my game, but when I compare it to the smooth finish of my ProV1x it does stand out. I like the Mindset logo on the ball. The colors and circles are not distracting, and you can always just turn the ball over so you do not see it at address. Performance: Full shots - They feel softer than what I am used to compared to the ProV1x or TP5s that I play. Chip/Pitch - These spin on par with the ProV1x, and most than the TP5. They are noticeably softer feeling and sounding than either ball which I did enjoy. They gave met he impression that they would land softly and they did. I was able to get them to check nicely on the green, even from thick rough. Putting - Same consistent soft feel and roll. No issues with performance. I was putting with my new Odyssey Ai double wide (review coming soon) and they all of my putts had a very tight grouping (on the putts I did not flub) Mindset - Like I said before. I like the look of the logo. It is a nice reminder that helped me to minimize my swing thoughts while playing. I tend to have 10-15 thoughts from ball position, to wrist hinge, to weight transfer. Even before getting these balls, I have been experimenting with cutting it all down to "just hit the ball". For me it worked to help quiet my mind and simplify my swing. I suppose anyone could draw 3 dots or circles on their ball of choice. I felt like I was swinging more freely as I stopped trying to steer the ball. Consequently the my shots tended to go farther and straighter than when I over-fixated on my path. The course is not where you want to try to fix your swing. I did not find the logo to be a good alignment aid for putting for me. I tend to like a single line drawn around the ball. When I tried to align the circles to my putt line I always seemed to miss to the right vs. when I use the drawn line. When just applying the Identify, Visualize, Focus methods to my putts they tended to go in or were closer to the hole. This does make me be more intentional with my shots as oppposed to my usual overthinking each shot. I am a fan.
  3. Nice that you got fit. The Toulon putters are fantastic. As everyone said before the performance is the most important thing. That being said, I get the allure of owning a Scotty. Hey, if it makes you happy and it fits your budget, why not? I have bought and sold a couple of Scottys over the years. There are some really beautiful putters, but they do not put the ball in the hole any more than others I have tried. I just got the AiOne blade wide and the hype is real...so far.
  4. $400 (max) assuming the fitting was thorough, like with a Quintec or something similar. 1. Evnroll anything. Love my ER5 but if I got fit for a blade or some other head hosel config, I would be down for that. 2. Cleveland anything and have a really nice dinner with the savings. 3. One of the Odyssey AI putters 4. TM Spider
  5. I love the look of these irons. I have a set of D7 Forged that rotate in and out of my bag. I do not mind the top line and they a do not look like a VW on a stick like some G.I. irons. My D7s feel great, go far, and I get plenty of spin anyway so stopping power on the greens is usually not an issue. You also can get move bang for your buck with Wilson equipment. I am going to try their new wedges next.
  6. Agree with everyone saying that you should just try them. You could also just get one extended and SW set to your specs if you wanted to try them. I have the same shafts in mine, and I like the feel a lot.
  7. That's great. I usually just tape the grip on the shaft when measuring SW instead of blowing it on to measure. Also, if you do not have a chop saw to cut the butt of the shafts, a pipe cutting tool works great. I still use mine when I am too lazy to setup my chop saw to cut 1 shaft.
  8. I blow on grips when I am testing new grips all of the time. I put a piece of tape at the end of the grip and poke a hold through the middle with an inflation needle. Works great.
  9. I like the +4 option in grips. I wish my current grip had that as a option. Instead, I build up the bottom of the grip with 4 layers of tape to get the same effect. I find that I have better touch on delicate wedge shots and I less grip pressure in my right. I wear an XL glove so the midsize +4 or built up option work will for me.
  10. That is going to be an amazing build. You say you have everything, does that include tip weights? I always dry fit everything first including blowing on the grips before gluing and taping anything down. I also do not use the tour epoxy when building a set so I have more time to fiddle, and can mix a larger batch. You will leave things to cure overnight anyway. Good luck, and I am also looking forward to pics of the finished set.
  11. I think I would be a great tester for MSG for three main reasons. I am an absolute gear head. I love everything that is golf related. Clubs, balls, shows, electronics, bags, carts. You name it, I love learning about it. I am interested in the material something is made out of, the manufacturing process, as well as researching the marketing claims vs. actual performance. I have started building my own clubs years ago so I could experiment with different shafts, grips, swing weights etc. I live in SoCal near a dozen courses so I have access to courses and ranges mostly year round. I just really really love golf and would represent the "average" golfer well. The opportunity to share some of my experiences with others would be amazing.
  12. Great insight into how people are selected and the tracking that goes into each review. Bummer that there are those that get an opportunity and do not put in the time or do not submit a review at all.
  13. I don't play too often so it does not bother me to pay for a premium ball. My preference is the Prov1x. It has a consistent spin and approach distance that is the go to part of my game. That being said, I have also mixed it up with the TP5x balls I have been gifted this year. The TP5 balls are comparable but I just like the feel performance of the ProVs. If I start to play more, I would likely play the Vice Pro Plus. They are the closest, less expensive, alternative to the ProVs I have found.
  14. Played in a Tournament last Oct. It started to rain so hard the course was flash flooding. A tree we were driving past as we drove back to the clubhouse got struck by lightning. Scary.
  15. I had a test iron I built with one of he Nicklus Secret Grips, and I hit it great. I put a 20g weight in my irons, but it is not working out in my gamer set. The club overall feels heavier, and I lose the feel of the head. I may pull the grips and give up on the experiment. They are now at a C6-7 swing weight now. Golfworks sells these kits as well. https://www.golfworks.com/tour-lock-pro-weights/p/tl0026/
