  1. Whew... started a new job working I.T. on the AF Base here... finally getting a breather and getting back to watching the forums!

    1. fozcycle

      fozcycle

      How's it going?

  2. Here is an update on the Vision glove to go along with the recent ball comments - I have been playing with the Vision glove since... what was it Boz... early-mid August when you sent those out?? I've been playing 4-5 rounds each week. This thing is amazing. I've still got all the grip I need with it. Slippage is about unheard of, no matter if I'm hot and perspiring, rain, sun, fog, etc. I'd guess I've probably still got about half the life left in the glove!!
  3. One hacker's point of view... The vision golf balls ROCK!! Not only do they perform as has been posted on this thread, but they are SO easy to find compared to standard. You will save money in the long run simply because you won't lose them as fast. Plus, I'd almost guarantee that handicap will come down. Mine has dropped from ~~24 at the beginning of the year to ~~18 now. A lot of that is because I'm playing the same balls all the time now and I KNOW how they are going to perform every time I hit them.
  4. gdiddy... they aren't. Call SMT and order them and they'll get them to you fast. They have 'em in the catalog, but not for online order. Wish they'd fix that, but till they do, its worth the time of a phone call.
  5. Well Boz, whatever you do to the balls, just make sure you keep doing it the way you've been doing in the past. I am still really liking everything I've hit so far. I'm with you on the yellow for a gel/pinky type ball too! Would love it I'm sure!!
  6. I'm really wondering that myself Moecat! MGS, just a thought... How about before doing the cutting... could ya do some testing on 'em and compare stats between the clone and the club it is suppose to be a clone of??? That plus the "cutting" should either confirm or remove any doubts people might have about them.
  7. Same thing happens to me, and I'm VERY happy to tell them about Vision. Its just too cool!
  8. Nope not yet. Hopefully they will soon. Maybe Boz can give us a hint WHEN??!!
  9. Hey JB... I just ordered from them and got the balls FAST. You have to call them to order, but they are pretty reasonable. They have the Artic White, UV and the Xpert 2's. Had 'em in stock a week ago.
  10. Boz, some more feedback on the Proto. Ummm.. its not so good. I played it for two holes yesterday. After the first approach shot (90 yds, wedge) the cover was scuffed a bit. Not too bad, and I smoothed it out enough with a thumbnail that I was happy to continue with it. 2nd hole was a 180 yd par 3. Iron off the tee box to the green and when I got to the green, I could see what foz described above. It looked like there was a cut in the ball and a slight blister. But yet, the cover was NOT cut. The "inner" part of it (color layer?) was... Does that make any sense at all? Anyway... I had to take it out of play. Was a shame cuz I did love the feel of it for the short time I played it. Now, for some good feedback. Still playing the UVs... and DANG I like those. Other than the two holes mentioned above, I played 3 rounds this weekend with 1 ball! I'm really getting use to the short game aspects of them and am beginning to putt them really well. *edit* Forgot to mention... I got the balls from SMT on Saturday. Those guys are QUICK!! :)
  11. Now there is a revelation from titleist... if I hit a GIR vs over regulation, my score will be lower. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  12. Just got off the phone with Pat at SMT and ordered some of the Artic and UV Yellow's. Can't wait till they get the pinkys!!!
  13. I took Pinky for a walk after work yesterday. OK Boz, now tell me. Just how the hell does that thing work? As far as I could determine, NOTHING seemed to be right about it, except the RESULTS! LOL! I played the back 9 at the USAF base course... a par 37. Hole 10 - 345 yd par 4 - I almost always hate the first drive of the day. Yep, no exception. Hit it fat and it went about 100 yds, but what the heck, it was smack in the middle of the fairway. LONG 3 wood toward the green. When I hit it, it felt kind of mushy and I had a feeling I was going to be well short. It even LOOKED well short. Ummm... 10 yds from the green, chipped on and got more backspin than I expected, 2 putted (wow, I loved the feel off the putter) and went away happy with my bogey considering the topped drive. Hole 11 - short 484 yd par 5 - Got a decent drive and put it right in the middle of the fairway. Again, it felt like it was going to be a short drive and it LOOKED short. Hmm... what is that beside me... oh... that's the 200 yd marker. WHAT??? I don't drive 280 yds, normally more like 240 - 250ish... and no way was it that long. But the proof was layin' on the ground in front of me. Hybrid up to the green again felt short but was pin high about 3 yds right of the green. Chipped up within a couple feet for a GIR and 1 putt for bird. HUH? I've never birdied that par 5 before even though it is so short. Hole 12 - 391 yd par 4 - Again a nice drive (260ish) to the middle of the fairway, 8 iron to the green (damn... another one that felt short but wasn't) but I screwed up and 3 putted on a tough green. Dammit.. bogey. Hole 13 - 504 yd par 5 - AARRGGHH!! How does it do it. That felt like a 220-230 yd drive.... 270ish smack in the middle of the fairway again. FWY wood again felt short and wasn't (this is sounding kind of repetitive isn't it?) Short chip on from the left to 1' from the pin. Chirp! Another birdie! The rest of the game went downhill a little, but it wasn't pinky's fault. A 3 putt and couple un-necessary 2 putts (like from 3-4 feet) and I wound up 5 over. What? 5 OVER??? I haven't had 9 holes like that since I took the game back up. My last 9 holes at 5 over was somethin' like ohhh... 32 yrs ago! I wish I could say it was because my game has improved that much. It has improved some but I definitely give some credit to the ball. Pinky amazed me. Again Boz, how the heck does it do it? That round had at least one hit on every hole that felt well short, but the results did NOT show that. It also somehow managed to almost eliminate any slice/hook tendencies, cuz I hit several shots that I was sure were going to, but they didn't. Well done my friend.
  14. If its truely gold plated, I'm thinkin about double that with the value of gold what it is today.
  15. Sac and Boz... those balls look great! Coach Mattos will be smiling down at the tourney I'm sure.
  16. Dang Boz... ya just keep impressing me more and more! I played the UV X3's yesterday for the first time. 18 holes and I didn't even come close to losing a ball. Love the way they almost glow and I can see them all the way to the ground, even on long drives. My GPS crapped out on me after two holes so I wasn't able to get correct yardages for comparison, but I had NO problem ripping that thing as far as I have ever hit on average. (What do you mean I'm suppose to charge the battery every now and then? LOL!) A couple drives were real boomers (well for me anyway). I really liked the way it performed off the irons too. I was sticking the greens as well as, if not better than I ever have with this ball and am VERY happy with it. I didn't get much chance to use the wedges with it, as I was hitting the greens with longer irons and holding on them. (except for 2 sand shots and those went well too, but ya can't really judge a ball's spin from a sand shot) I also came to a conclusion about my earlier comments concerning putting with the Vision balls. Uhnhhhhhh.... it aint the ball's fault. My flat stick is NOT working well right now and I have no idea why, but it'll come around. All my fault. The glove still performs as well as it did the first time I wore it and this is probably going to be my "standard" for any glove performance in the future. No slip, just grip. Another 18 coming up today and another model to play!! Woooot!! This is actually fun! Keep it up and keep 'em coming!!!
  17. Ok.. Now I'm even more anxious to hit the pinky! Maybe I'll play THAT this Friday.
  18. Yanno Pegasus... I am really liking everything that Boz sent me to try out. The hat is fabulous. I'm a pretty heavy perspirer (is that a word??) and with most hats, sweat just drips from the brim late in the round. With Boz's Vision hat, that has NOT happened once in 3 rounds in 90 degree temps. The tees - heh.. I love plastic tees just for the durability. Haven't broken one yet! The balls I've played so far are durable and I'm hitting them well. I can't wait to try out the rest of them and will be playing in a game on Friday with some co-workers. Wait till they see how those balls glow as they go thru the air! The glove, as said above.. is GREAT. It has not shown a single tendency to slip, no matter how much I have sweated or gotten anything on it. HEY BOZ ... if ya want to come to Cheyenne, Wyoming and set up shop, I'll guarantee you ONE customer at least! LOL! (But then again, you've got one anyway and I have to pay the shipping so that is probably out of the question huh?)
  19. Played 18 with the Artic White yesterday. It was about 5-10 yds longer than the Gel for me from the driver. Irons were about the same as the gel and putter was nice, but nothing special for me. It was hard for me to dial in putting distances, but I was on a new course with greens that had LOTS of hills/breaks/etc.I don't know if that was the ball, or if I was just not reading things well. I'll reserve any further comment about that to a time when I can take it to a putting green. The driver being longer I also am not so sure about. Either that ball was longer, or I was absolutely smoking the drives for a change. I HAVE been improving lately, so it may have just been my technique. All in all though, I really liked the Artic White and found it easy to keep my eyes on and like the gel, a great ball around the greens.
  20. Hey Nasty... I'm with you on what you said at the end. Without this opportunity, if I had seen those balls sitting in a pro shop or store, I would not have given them a 2nd look. Now.... I'm anxious to see them GET in the pro shops and stores!!
  21. I don't know whether to put this HERE.. or give it it's own thread... but here goes. This is going to be one wierd review. I played 18 with the Vision Gel yesterday. I didn't take it to the practice green, I didn't take it to the chipping area, and I didn't hit any practice shots with it. I gave it the EXACT same test it would get if I bought a sleeve of balls in a hurry when I was running behind for my tee time and the pro shop didn't have my "usual". A little about my game... I'm around a low 20s handicap (if I turned in my score cards) and have been shooting in the high 80s - mid 90s for the past month. I don't hit a long ball with driver, woods or irons. I have good days and bad days, but average around 34 putts per round. My average drive distance is 230-240 ish and sometimes more or less. I often push/slice or pull/hook the ball and have trouble staying in the fairways. I have a real problem with consistency off the driver. Average full 8 iron is about 120-130. I've been gaming several balls a lot lately. GamerV2, NXT, HX Hot Bite. So anyway.. on with my impressions of the Gel. Driver - I took out the longest drive and the shortest because the longest was my sweetest shot of the day and had about a 15 mph tailwind. The shortest was a duff by me and had NOTHING to do with the ball. LOL. Average drive was 233. The Gel is not a "long" ball for my game. BUT... I didn't show any slice or hook all day!!!!!!! The times I was off center line were MY fault, not the ball at all. This thing flies straight as an arrow! 10 of 14 fairways hit. WAY above my average!! LOL!! Irons - At first I couldn't hit a green with these things off the irons. Then I realized on hole 4 why that was so. Even though the Gel wasn't a long ball for my driver... WOW.. it was 10 yards long off every iron I hit it with. Once I realized that, BAM... was getting on the green if I hit it straight. Again, there was no sign of a slice or hook. 8 iron full swing distance averaged 130-140. How is it so long off the irons, yet not the driver??? Wedges - OK.. this is wierd and I can't explain it. I'll leave that to Boz. How the hell can you make a ball that apparently doesn't have a lot of spin off full driver, wood or long iron shots (as evidenced by no slice or hook from me!). But yet, when you hit it with a wedge or short iron the dang thing spins like crazy??? I didn't have ONE shot roll out more than 5-6 feet on the green when hit with an 8 - SW. Pitching/Chipping/Putting - As enthusiastic as I've already sounded you'd think I was about done. Around the green and ON the green is where this Gel shines for me. I've never played a ball that felt so good with short pitches, chips and putts. I thought because of the iron action I was getting, it was going to play just a little hot on those. Heck, it was like buttering toast! A nice firm feel to the ball and just when you thought you may have mishit it a bit... it rolls 8" from the cup. SHEESH! I'm really amazed. Something in almost every shot told me I hit it the ball either too hard, or too soft. Yet my long putts either went in or lagged close. Short puts (inside 10') felt almost automatic. I guess the summary of this is... WOW! I'm definitely impressed. I only hope the rest of the balls play as well for me as this one. I told ya this was going to be a wierd review!! I'll probably be giving the same kind of wierd stuff on the rest of 'em too! LOL! Oh.. and the glove.. .fits like a glove! I really like the texture of it and the dry feel. It was 92 here yesterday and I had no problem with sweaty hands or slipping.
  22. Got my package last night. AWESOME!!! REALLY wanted to hit the course after work today and do some testing but wouldn't ya know... broke my glasses this morning. Now its a trip to the eye doctor instead of the golf course. Oh well, there's always tomorrow! Boz... the glove fits great compared to the FJ medium. Thanks also for all the extras! I really can't wait to get out on the course with all this stuff!!
