  1. Yeah. Guessing isn’t the best approach when it comes to the IRS
  2. Good Morning. It’s been a busy Saturday so far. Feel like the Will Ferrel line in Old School a few Honey Do’s done. And taxes all done and filed! So now settled in for a good Slate of College Hoops.
  3. Oh it’s very barren. Definitely not 5 star accusations. But many of the pros who stayed there as an AM say it was one of the coolest experiences they’ve had. Hamging with the other Ams right above the clubhouse. And some said Shenanigans may or may not have taken place around hole 18 and the par 3 course late at night
  4. Good Morning. Going to be a sunny 72 degree day here, wild considering 4 days ago we had 6 inches of snow on the ground. Unfortunately I have 3 of the new drives, Callaway Ai Smoke, PING G430 Max 10K and Taylormade Qi10 in various stages of shipment to me, but none due to arrive today. So my annual mini shootout will have to wait a bit to commence.
  5. So good question, I think I heard he'll be able to play in the Masters due to winning a tournament, but not based on his US AM victory, as I believe once you turn pro you give up all the benefits that come with the US win, including the chance to stay in the Crows Nest, which I think is cool, but some say give me the money instead...ha But all the above is based strictly on what I recall from reading after his win, I could be wrong.
  6. With the snow all melted on our course, temps in the 50's and the course still closed to let it dry out, I took advantage. I gabbed my Wilson CB's that I haven't played since about October, my Full Swing LM and walked out to our 2nd hold a par 3 and hit a couple dozen balls. Overall the swing showed the winter rust, but managed to get the ball airborne and in the general vicinity of the green So there's that. The CB's definitely are a club shorter than my t350's of course due to the lofts etc. But they sure feel nice. I need to schedule a lesson soon with pro I worked with some last year to get me started back on the right track.
  7. Good Afternoon. After a day of temps in the 50's all day, the snow is 90% gone. The course will remain closed until Saturday. So I grabbed a light bag and walked out to our par 3 2nd hole and hit about two dozen shots with the Wilson CB's on the Full Swing Kti LM they had been getting a bit rusty since last use. Results were OK for not having been on course in about 6 weeks and last hitting a ball on the range in early December.
  8. Yeah the ones I'm talking about I think they are Bir Tees or someting have a string attached to all of them. So you can anchor the string under the matt if hitting off a mat, or if on course lay your club head cover or something on it.
  9. I have a couple of those tees in my bag, not so much for that reason but for using on mats in the simulator. I actually told a few guys in our local FB Golf Group that those are perfect for for frozen turf instead of trying to hammer a tee in with the tee box marker whcih they were doing
  10. Good Morning...Snow is quickly melting here in Maryland, and with temps in the 60's tomorrow and Friday, it'll likely be gone by the weekend. Not that we (at the course) are too happy about it. we've enjoyed having a quiet clubhouse the past two weeks. But as they say all good things must come to an end.
  11. Exemptions perhaps, but I believe the spot in the Crows Nest is only good as long as he's the reigning US AM Champ. It is limited to invite only and the invites are usually tied to the winners of particular high level AM events, so he'd have to qualify via those again to be invited. Unless of course they change their invitation lists, which they certainly can do at their whim.
  12. Titleist Introduces New Scotty Cameron Phantom Putters Next Generation Mallets Fully Redesigned with New Shaping, Enhanced Alignment, Improved Sound and Feel, New Full-Contact Grip Design CARLSBAD, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2024) – Scotty Cameron introduces his 2024 lineup of Phantom mallets, 10 new models completely redesigned to meet the demands of the modern game through alignment-infused head shapes with improved sound and feel. The new Phantom family, offering four unique shapes with multiple neck and shaft configurations, is the result of feedback from Phantom players across the worldwide professional tours, melded with the continued advancement of Scotty’s multi-material construction and face milling technologies: • Fast-looking head shapes have been engineered to optimize alignment and targeting, helping players easily and correctly line up the putter at address. • Multi-material face and body constructions, with premium milled-in-USA craftsmanship, are more rigid for increased stability and feedback. • Scotty’s tour-proven dual-milled face technology is brought to the Phantom line to provide a softer, consistent sound and feel. • A new custom-designed, full contact paddle-style grip is uniquely shaped for increased contact and comfort, while promoting more face angle awareness. QUOTING SCOTTY CAMERON: “Max Homa, Justin Thomas and tour players around the world have found success with Phantom putters, and we’re constantly talking with them and learning more about what they want from their mallet. Recently, it’s been alignment that has dominated those conversations. We’ve taken that feedback and designed the new Phantoms to give players useful, intuitive alignment features, not only with the sight dots and lines visible at address, but also with the overall shape of each model. Every aspect of the putter design is working together. Every angle has been refined to accentuate a down-the-line view, so the player has a clear and confident look at every putt.” AVAILABILITY: The Phantom 5, 5.5, 5s, 7, 7.5, 9 and 9.5 models will be available worldwide in Titleist authorized golf shops beginning March 29, 2024. The Phantom 7.5 will be made in a left-handed version. The Phantom 11, 11.5 and new Phantom 11 Long Design will join the line and arrive in golf shops on May 17, 2024, and the Phantom 11.5 will also be offered as a left-handed option. 2024 PHANTOM MODEL OVERVIEW: The complete Scotty Cameron Phantom line includes 10 mallet models with four unique head shapes, redesigned to enhance alignment, balance center of gravity (CG) depth and optimize moment of inertia (MOI). The new models offer golfers options in 33”, 34”, 35” and 38” lengths along with multiple neck/shaft configurations (low-bend, mid-bend, straight shaft or jet neck) for ultimate player flexibility. Each putter features improved multi-material construction, dual-milled face technology and refined aesthetics. • Phantom 5: Designed with an updated, slightly more compact shape with refined wing angles to enhance alignment, the near-face balanced Phantom 5 stays true to its tour-proven design and features a mid-bend shaft, new sight dot alignment and a blade-like feel. • Phantom 5.5: The new Phantom 5.5 model features the same updated head shape of the 5 along with a jet neck for players that prefer the alignment features of a mallet with the toe-flow of a blade. • Phantom 5s: Nearly-face balanced with a straight shaft and zero offset, the Phantom 5s offers the same compact mallet shape as its model-mates with an unobstructed view of the leading edge of the face from address. • Phantom 7: With updated contours, slightly longer wings, new sight dot alignment and a subtle shape shift for a straighter outside wing angle, the tour-proven Phantom 7 puts an emphasis on alignment, stability and MOI and features a mid-bend shaft. • Phantom 7.5: Sharing the head shape and design of the 7, the Phantom 7.5 incorporates a jet neck to promote a flowing stroke in a stable, high-MOI mallet (available in left-handed version). • Phantom 9: The Phantom 9 features a mid-bend shaft and a completely re-designed shape that offers long sight lines for improved alignment along with an angular, “ring-weighted” profile to deliver forgiveness and feel with high MOI. • Phantom 9.5: The 9.5 model matches the 9 with its shaping and alignment cues but like the 5.5 and 7.5 models, features a toe-flow promoting jet neck. • Phantom 11: A complete re-design from the sole up, the face balanced, multi-material Phantom 11 is a high-MOI mallet with a stable, mid-bend shaft and new arrow alignment features. • Phantom 11.5: With a low-bend shaft for moderate toe-flow, the Phantom 11.5 was designed for the player seeking the alignment features and MOI properties of the 11 with a shaft design that helps the putter swing on a slight arc (available in a left-handed version). • Phantom 11 Long Design – 38-inch: Designed in the Phantom 11 head shape, the Phantom 11 Long Design is a 38-inch counterbalanced model with a longer, heavier 17-inch, 135-gram pistol-style grip and a custom-designed stiffer mid-bend shaft to accommodate the overall heavier head, which includes two 25-gram tungsten sole weights. The design features help the player to quiet the hands for a more stable, balanced stroke. PHANTOM TECHNOLOGY • ALIGNMENT-INFUSED DESIGNS: Based on tour player input, Scotty designed new 2024 Phantom putter shapes with alignment systems to help players easily and correctly align the putter at address. In addition to a refined, alignment-promoting overall shape, each model features alignment cues that range from elegantly milled sight dots on the 5 and 7 models, to mechanically straight sight lines on the 9 models, to arrow-shaped lines on the 11 models, helping to give the player a clear pre-putt look towards the hole. • RE-ENGINEERED MULTI-MATERIAL CONSTRUCTION: Each 2024 Phantom model’s putter face and body is crafted from 303 stainless steel and integrated with lightweight 6061 aircraft aluminum flange and sole plate components. These multi-material designs have been made more rigid, giving players added stability and more solid feel while complementing the models’ new optimized vibration damping technology. • DUAL-MILLED FACE TECHNOLOGY: Every 303 stainless steel face on new Phantom putters features Scotty’s dual-milled face technology, which originated on tour and was first introduced to golfers in 2023’s Super Select line. The dual-milling process provides better sound and feel while combining deep-milled softness with the feedback and consistency of mid-milled offerings. 2024 Phantom putter faces each undergo an initial deep mill, before a second pass levels the milling peaks to produce a flatter, more consistent surface. The result is a tour-inspired look and feel along with the line’s most consistent face to date. PHANTOM WEIGHTING & SHAFTS: Each new Phantom putter features performance weighting with two customizable stainless steel heel-toe weights (tungsten for the Phantom 11 Long Design) and stepless steel shafts. CUSTOM-DESIGNED FULL CONTACT GRIP: Every model features a new Full Contact paddle-style grip, reminiscent of Scotty’s classic Baby T design with modern updates. Custom-designed for the new Phantom line, the grip is uniquely shaped for more contact and comfort as well as improved face angle awareness through its flat top surface. In addition, the “chain link” texture delivers a reliable grip in all conditions. FINISH & GRAPHICS: The new Phantom stainless steel putter heads all undergo Scotty’s silver mist process for a radiant yet glare-resistant appearance and texture. The 6061 aircraft grade aluminum components have been misted and anodized in a black aluminum finish. Scotty’s familiar three-dot theme on the back pockets and sight dots of the Phantom 5 and 7 putter heads are accented with translucent smoke paintfill, while engravings and sight lines on all models are painted in shades of asphalt, dove gray and dark gray. Each Phantom mallet includes a shaft band and a headcover accented in yellow. AVAILABILITY AND PRICE: The new Scotty Cameron Phantom 5, 5.5, 5s, 7, 7.5, 9 and 9.5 models will be available worldwide beginning March 29, 2024, with the Phantom 11, 11.5 and new Phantom 11 Long Design joining the line on May 17, 2024. 13. Titleist Introduces New Scotty Cameron Long Design Putters Super Select Squareback 2 and Phantom 11 models offered in stable, counterbalanced 38-inch builds CARLSBAD, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2024) – In addition to his 2024 lineup of new Phantom mallets, Scotty Cameron introduces two new Long Design models for players seeking to stabilize their stroke with a balanced, more connected feel when gripping and manipulating the putter. Crafted specifically at 38 inches with stiffer, custom shafts and heavier heads using tungsten sole weights, the new Phantom 11 Long Design and Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design putters help quiet the player’s hands and engage the shoulders for enhanced stability in the putting stroke. The increase in overall length and weight, coupled with a heavier, longer grip, keeps the putter in balance, while the entire stroke is slowed down. QUOTING SCOTTY CAMERON: “Most of the discussions we’re having with players these days are either about new alignment features or finding ways to quiet their hands during the putting stroke. We took two of our most popular models — the Super Select Squareback 2 and Phantom 11 — and created a counterbalanced effect with a slightly longer shaft, a heavier head and a heavier grip. This helps the player engage the larger shoulder muscles in the stroke. It’s a concept we’ve developed over the years working with touring professionals that can benefit players everywhere.” • CUSTOM 17-INCH 135-GRAM GRIP: Made especially for the Long Design models, the 135-gram, non-tapered 17-inch grip allows for softer grip pressure and controlled hand movement with more weight to counterbalance the increased putter head weight. • CUSTOM STIFFER SHAFTS: Designed for stability and forgiveness, the stiffer, longer version of Scotty’s mid-bend shaft accommodates the heavier head weight of the Phantom 11 Long Design, while the custom shaft made for the Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design complements the model’s plumbing neck. • HEAVIER SOLE WEIGHTS: Each Long Design putter incorporates interchangeable 25-gram tungsten sole weights. LONG DESIGN MODEL OVERVIEW: The new Long Design models can be ordered in custom lengths from 36-inches to 40-inches for ultimate player flexibility. Each putter features the Super Select and Phantom lines’ multi-material construction, dual-milled face technology and refined aesthetics. • Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design: With a solid milled face and an integrated 6061 aluminum sole plate, the Super Select Squareback 2 Long Design features the same wider-bodied, angular mid-mallet head shape of the Super Select Squareback 2 but incorporates the Long Design tungsten sole weights, heavy grip and custom shaft. • Phantom 11 Long Design: Designed with the same head shape of the new Phantom 11 and 11.5 models, the high-MOI Phantom 11 Long Design offers enhanced arrow alignment features that complement its heavier head and custom grip and shaft build. 14. If I was him, I would stay AM at least through the end of the college seeason. Sure he's able to play in the Masters either way But if he plays as the US AM Champ, he'll get to stay in the Crows Nest. From all accounts that's a once in a lifetime opportunity, no matter how many times he goes back as a pro he wouldn't be able to do that. And now days with the NIL it's not like he's missing out on the money aspect at all. I'm sure there are plenty of U of A donors that would send some his way
  15. CARLSBAD, Calif. (Jan. 21, 2024) – Nick Dunlap made history Sunday winning The American Express to become the first amateur to win a PGA TOUR event in 33 years. Dunlap’s record-setting weekend featured his Qi10 LS 9.0° driver, P·7MC irons and Milled Grind 4 wedges. The 20-year-old Alabama sophomore shot a record-breaking 60 on Saturday to take a three-stroke lead into the final round. His round matched the lowest round by an amateur since at least 1983. After going out in even par to start the final round, Dunlap’s drive on the 14th hole went 271-yards into the fairway and then he hit his approach from 129-yards to 10-feet to make birdie. Then, after a 331-yard drive on 16 with his Qi10 LS driver, Dunlap came up clutch going up and down from below the green with his Milled Grind 4 wedge and made the 11-foot putt. Dunlap showed his poise on the 17th hole, securely finding the green on the Par 3 island green with his P·7MC and then two-putting for par to take a two-stroke lead. On 18, he had yet another clutch up and down to secure the victory by one-stroke. Dunlap finished the final round second in driving distance with an average of 331-yards. CARLSBAD, Calif. 16. Great Pictures. Here's the official release from Titleist with all the details on them. TITLEIST INTRODUCES NEW VOKEY DESIGN SM10 WEDGES Master Craftsman Bob Vokey’s New Line Delivers Lower Flight, Better Feel and Maximum Spin CARLSBAD, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2024) – Titleist’s new Vokey Design SM10 wedges are engineered to produce a lower, more controlled flight with improved feel and maximum spin – advancing the performance of the game’s most played wedges through an unrelenting focus on Master Craftsman Bob Vokey’s three keys to great wedge play: • Shot versatility: The Vokey Design SM10 family comprises six different tour-proven sole grinds (F, S, M, K, T and D) – with a total of 25 unique loft, bounce and grind combinations – allowing every golfer the opportunity to find their optimal wedge setup. Properly fit wedges that complement a golfer’s swing type and course conditions help unlock creativity around the greens and achieve proper turf interaction and contact. “I always tell players that the most important club in the bag is confidence,” Vokey said. “Getting fit for each of your wedges, and learning how to use them in different situations, is one of the fastest ways to gain confidence around the green.” • Precise distance and trajectory control: SM10 wedges feature new progressive center of gravity placements through the lofts. The result is a lower, more controlled trajectory, more solid feel, and tighter dispersion from the lowest-lofted wedge to the highest. • Maximum spin: Vokey Design’s patented Spin Milled process has been refined to deliver higher, more consistent spin. Each TX9 groove is individually cut based on loft and finish and treated with high frequency heat to maximize durability. “Player feedback drives our development process,” said Corey Gerrard, Director of Marketing, Vokey Wedges. “Whether we’re talking with tour professionals or dedicated amateurs, every bit of player insight matters. All the advances we made to SM10, from looks and feel to grind options and desired flight windows, reflect that player input.” VOKEY WEDGES ON TOUR Vokey Design wedges have been the most played wedge on the PGA TOUR since 2004, with Vokey models accounting for more than half of the wedges in play throughout the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season. The 2024 season started with Vokey SM10 as the most played wedge on the PGA TOUR, with 20 players making the immediate move to the new models at The Sentry, including Jordan Spieth (46.10F, 52.08F, 56.10S, 60.04T) and Max Homa (46.10F, 50.12F, 56.14F, WedgeWorks 60L). “The best players in the world know exactly what they want from their wedges. The smallest details matter to them and they are very specific when it comes to describing the improvements they want to see,” said Aaron Dill, Director of Vokey Player Relations. “Their feedback is invaluable. We are constantly learning from them and it’s that constant collaboration which allows us to get even better with each new generation.” The tour launch of SM10 continued two weeks later at The American Express, with Dill back behind his grinding wheel on the Titleist Tour Truck. When players teed off Thursday, Vokey SM10 was once again the clear favorite. Of the gap, sand and lob wedges in play at PGA West, 251 (55%) were Vokey wedges and 135 (29%) were SM10. Thirty-nine players, including Justin Thomas (46.10F, 52.12F, 56.14F, 60.04T), played at least one new Vokey SM10 wedge for the first time. The same week on the DP World Tour, Cameron Young added four new SM10’s (Vokey SM10 48.10F, 52.12F, 58.08M & 60.04T @62). Wyndham Clark (46.10F, 50.08F, 56.10S, WedgeWorks 59A), Will Zalatoris (50.08F, 54.10S, 60.04T), Tom Kim (46.10F, 52.12F) and Ludvig Åberg (60.08M) are also among the more than 100 players on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour that have already played new SM10’s in competition. “I flight my wedges really low,” said Jordan Spieth. “And as I got to the gap wedge and the pitching wedge (with SM10), I saw some more consistency in the flight, especially on the draw intent shots, just kind of holding a little straighter… kind of that more pinch-ier flight without it over-hooking. That’s always a benefit when we're looking at these left pins and trying to attack them.” “I think (wedge fitting) it’s as important as getting fit for a driver,” Spieth said. “I mean, these are your scoring clubs. You can do all you want, you can drive it to 100 yards all day off the tee, but if you don't have the ability to get it in the hole from there or really feel like you have confidence in your wedge play, it doesn’t do you a whole lot of good. Someone might beat you that’s not driving it as well. So it’s extremely important, also because there’s just so many different options now between lofts, lies and especially grinds. You could think you’re in the right one and all of a sudden you grab a different grind and you're like, man, OK, this is actually where I'm struggling with this one shot, and all of a sudden now I have it back.” VOKEY SM10 PERFORMANCE & TECHNOLOGY SHOT VERSATILITY: Unlocking ultimate short game creativity and shotmaking ability comes from playing a properly fitted wedge set, and Vokey SM10 wedges feature the most complete lineup of loft, grind and bounce combinations in the game to fit a variety of swing types, styles of play and course conditions. Playing the right wedge helps golfers achieve proper turf interaction and find the optimal strike position (grooves 2-5), resulting in a lower, more consistent flight with higher spin. The T grind, one of the most played lob wedges on the PGA TOUR, is featured as SM10’s low-bounce lob wedge option. The 54.08M has been added to the lineup for players who prefer a lower-bounce, strong-lofted sand wedge. FULL LOFT, GRIND AND BOUNCE OPTIONS: 46.10F, 48.10F, 50.08F, 50.12F, 52.08F, 52.12F, 54.08M, 54.10S, 54.12D, 54.14F, 56.08M, 56.10S, 56.12D, 54.14F, 58.04T, 58.08M, 58.10S, 58.12D, 58.14K, 60.04T, 60.08M, 60.10S, 60.12D, 60.14K, 62.08M WEDGE GRINDS EXPLAINED: https://www.vokey.com/explained/wedge-grinds DISTANCE AND TRAJECTORY CONTROL: Vokey Design SM10 wedges feature new optimized, progressive CG to achieve precision in distance and trajectory control. In the 46-52° models, the CG is lower for a better transition from the iron set and more consistent distance gapping. The CG is also pushed out closer to the center of the face, helping to eliminate excessive draw movement and provide a more solid feel, based on Tour player feedback and testing. In lofts 54-62°, the CG is moved up and forward, which provides lower trajectory and a squarer face at impact. Loft-optimized CG allows for more consistent, controlled flight, better feel and tighter dispersion from the top end to the bottom end of a player’s wedge setup. MAXIMUM SPIN: Vokey’s patented Spin Milled groove cutting process provides a scoreline that delivers higher, more consistent spin, wedge after wedge. Vokey SM10 wedges feature TX9 grooves that are individually cut based on loft and finish: the grooves on the stronger-lofted wedges (46-54°) are cut narrower and deeper, while the higher-lofted wedges (56-62°) feature wider and shallower grooves. A parallel micro-texture between grooves helps to maximize spin on partial shots, and a high frequency heat treatment is applied to the impact area, doubling the durability of the groove edge compared to untreated grooves. PROGRESSIVE SHAPING, ENHANCED PROFILES: Vokey SM10 wedges are updated with progressive shaping by loft and consistent profiles to inspire confidence in every player. Lofts 46-52° feature a smaller profile and a straighter leading edge, while lofts 56-62° have a larger footprint and a more rounded leading edge for shot versatility. 17. Good Aftenoon. Busy morning with helping take down Xmas decorations and changing smoke alarm batteries and other fun Sunday at home stuff. watched a disappointing Maryland Hoops loss. Now looking forward to both games. Happy Game Day!
  18. That’s 4 months away. Many clubs could come and go by then. But perhaps I’ll make a point to hold onto all of them until after the outing Of course what I have will be a small appetizer for what everyone is likely to see at MGS HQ
  19. It is funny. The nagging part. That’s pretty much how I got the job with Billy Casper—which has become Troon. I bugged a friend for 15 years ..I guess I finally wore him down about 8 years ago. lol
  20. Good afternoon! I’m so pleased to see @GolfSpy_APH share his news with the forum. It will only help keep us in the mind of HQ with everything they do. He and the current group of MODs have made such an incredible amount of growth here over the past year. I wish you all could truly see the amount of time and effort they put in behind the scenes in an effort to make this site thrive! And it’s great fo see all the members and the increased activity. Thank you all!
  21. Irons. Began the year with the G430. But got the T350 in June and have played them 90% of the time. Also ordered the Wilson CB after a demo day in the summer when I couldn’t miss a shot with them. I really love both. Had a driver shootout early in the year with all the new models. The TSR1 won out and I stuck with it almost the entire year with the G430 Max thrown in a few rounds as well. So If you search my post for the Full Swikg Kit review. You will see I owned both the R10 and the ML2pro and wrote a little about both those. im about to turn in. But I’ll post some more extensive thoughts on both tomorow for you. If I remember
  22. Wow. I remember when you were diligently checking the Forum daily waiting for mine to hit the classifieds what did you move onto? Ha. Thanks. I need to move that project past the discussion stages.
  23. Good Mornimg. More snow…another 6 inches expected on top of the 4 we got earlier in the week. I know those in New England are laughing at me. But it was enough to even close our clubhouse today. So no one went in. So ill enjoy the 3 day weekend filled with college hoops and playoff football. oh and wait the PING G430 Max 10k that is on its way at the end of the month. Maybe the snow will be gone by then.
  24. Kenny, I'm soooooo jealous, we were due to get new carts this summer. Then the county told us we have to wait until the end of 2025 as the other county course we also manage is starting it's new clubhouse this summer and will go into 2025 to complete. It opened in 2021 with no clubhouse. We have been using the same fleet of carts since the spring of 2020. And they are pretty thrasedas our cart storage area is an outside area. They finally built us a cart barn, that is finishing up this month. But it came a few weeks too late with 6 inches of snow on the ground this week. Sign!!!
