  1. He signed with TaylorMade the year titleist swapped the designs of the prov1 and prov1x. He hasn’t messed with those versions of the ball. He didn’t think about going to the Prov1 with the new designs if they balls in 2019. There is zero evidence that he would consider switching to the newest designs so your speculations is based on purely personal experience with the ball that also has zero correlation to how they would perform for a golfer of Rory’s ability. Outside of his messing with putters because of varying issues with his stroke there’s nothing in his use of equipment that he would break contract to play a different ball or club that isn’t a putter from another brand. He played with Poulter this year at tem he Ryder cup and I don’t recall what ball they used but he probably had the chance to mess with it in practice rounds. If he was going to switch it try it he would have done so already
  2. The putter has always been a spot in the bag that’s he tinkered with and when he signed with TaylorMade he didn’t put one in the bag because he didn’t like any of them and that tinkering has continued. He prefers a lower spinning ball and signed with TM because of the ball as well as how the ball performed with the equipment. He’s winning with that combo and it’s the putter that usually gets in his way of winning. yeah he tinkered with Callaway for a bit with going back to the titleist ball because of familiarity. He then spent time with Tm and decide on their gear because of performance. The 10 year $100 million probavky had a role in it too because from what I’ve heard the crew at callaway didn’t want to pay that.
  3. Your swing isn’t changing. Your compensations for it do. If you aren’t going to get lessons then your swing is your swing. Like @Kenny Bsaid it’s not going to change otherwise so whatever your swing is now get fit. A good fitter is going to be able to look at your your swing, your ball flight (some will use a launch monitor and some may only refer to it to confirm what their eyes show them). They will also get your input on what your miss is, what your typical shot and ball flight is. They will get your input on how the clubs they are giving you to try in the fitting feel…be honest with all feedback. They will use all of this to get you in club that will work with your swing on your good shots and will reduce the affect of your bad ones.
  4. Yes we agree on that and my post was purely that X ss doesn’t equal Y ball speed There are experts that don’t agree with your stance on properly aligned shafts especially in graphite. While some will say that shaft manufacturers will obviously say that shafts don’t need to be aligned because that would mean their products have flaws(I’ve seen this point on several forums) however I’ve spent time with two shaft manufactures and 2 club manufacturers and they both say it’s not needed. then there is the pro gram where not every pro has shafts pured, flowed and so on. Some swear by it and others don’t use it at all, so let’s get away from speaking in certainties on a process that isn’t proven 100% effective iirc TXG who is in the club building business and offer these services did a test and there was no discernible difference
  5. I don’t usually check my specs unless I notice something is off when hitting them. Discount Dans is a pro shop and not club builder. All my clubs shipped from the manufacturer
  6. Yiu can email them or call them/ ive ordered multiple clubs from them over the phone
  7. I think anyone would take the 110 centered up over a 105 centered up. But that’s unfortunately not a guarantee. Theres people across multiple golf forums that have high swing speeds and hit the ball 260 because their swings are out of sequence. The point of my post was to say one can’t say X swing speed is going to produce Y ball speed. And X swing speed doesn’t equal Z shaft flex. It gives the fitter an idea where to start and then based on results of ball flight, launch numbers and golfer feedback they adjust there. And for someone blind buying to get a ball park of where to look. There’s members on this site that try to blind fit themselves based on swing speed or their thoughts on spin and launch and failed at that. Others have gone into fittings thinking they would be in a certain flex and/or weight shaft and end up in a shaft that they would never have considered on their own.
  8. Very few made for shafts exists for drivers and woods. Ventus non velocore in tm and tour edge, a couple of the Mitsubishi shafts but outside of that the shafts that are in the fitting carts are the real deal shafts. The fitting carts have a limited number of the upcharge shafts for each brand because of limited space inside the fitting carts. Where as if someone went to a demo day for a manufacturer the rep is going to have a larger selection of all shafts within that manufacturers matrix
  9. You don’t have to buy from club champion. You also don’t have to only be fit into the aftermarket shafts from them. Club champion is a fitting facility and that’s what you initially pay for. They also offer club building services which is a separate cost. If you communicate to the fitter what your budget is they will stay within in that. If you don’t have a budget then they have lots of options to try and find a fit, doesn’t mean you will hit every shaft and em head combo they have. You will get your fitting specs from them and you can order from wherever you want after that.
  10. You are correct in the timeline of the 620 release and they would have released the new version a couple months ago with the t100,100s,200 and 300. But they decided to not do the cb and mb. So the next time we would see a release would be in summer/fall 2023. Titleist has surprised everyone in the recent past with tsi1 and 4 wood releases and the 100-s after the t100 were released so it’s not impossible to see a cb and mb mid cycle release I just wouldn’t expect it based on them passing this cycle due to no improvements that could be made over the 620 release
  11. I would be surprised if titleist drops cb or mb irons anytime soon. They typically release all their irons together and chose not to do a cb and mb release this year because there want much to improve on and would expect the next iterations to come in two years when the next iron cycle is released especially since next year summer/fall will be the new woods and hybrid release.
  12. Take leas than full swings and use more club into the wind. Posting almost same thing at the sametime
  13. Ball speed will change based on how the club face is delivered to the ball. Swing speed doesn’t have a direct correlation to ball speed but the higher the swing speed the more chance for higher ball speed
  14. It’s a lot better than the first one. He goes into bunkers and different shots
  15. I’ve done the Tour van fitting with them 6 years ago. They have whatever shafts are in the manufacturers matrix. That will include the no upcharge shafts along with the upcharge ones, but if it’s a shaft like say they ventus red and a titleist driver then they won’t have it because only ventus blue and black are in the titleist matrix.
  16. It was GGs training that got me to understanding the rotation part but montes use the bounce 2.0 solidified my partial shot wedge game.
  17. I’ve tried that too and they can’t because of whatever deal they have with the manufacturer. I’ve tried both iron and wood heads
  18. The average consumer can’t just buy heads. Those are limited to authorized fitters.
  19. They have plenty of feedback for amateurs on left dash it’s what they made it a more readily available ball at shops and not one where shops had to order at least 6 doz.
  20. While changing lie angles may be somewhat custom that is also something any club builder will do if requested. The difference with independent club builders whether that’s CC or similar places or a truly independent builder compared to the manufacturer is that they should come with requested lie angle where as manufacturers have a tolerance that’s a ensure from 1-3*. Also there should be no issue with one doing 1.5 vice 1 or 2
  21. Ok. Sounds good. The carry distance you posted is pretty close to optimal for the speed. I would say the chances you improve spin or launch will be minimal. Dispersion improvement could come from swing work but again with no other numbers really hard to say
  22. I wouldn’t consider what you posted as custom other than maybe the grips. That is a stock shaft in mizunos 921 line. Others touched on the add ins like pureing. IMO not necessary so that is all I will say. The problem you are going to face is the Nippon 120 in every flex is in very limited supply and right now most manufacturers aren’t going to get another shipment until feb/mar. If you don’t want to pay the CC price you can try to order directly from a golf shop or online from places like tgw, Carl’s golfland and so on. You can try independent club builders if they have the shaft in stock
  23. Have you looked to see if Worcestershire golf does fittings? If possible look to see if there are places within 2 hour drive to get fit.
  24. See my reply that came in at the same time as this one. there is no guarantee another shaft will improve numbers and without seeing launch monitor numbers nobody can tell if you are currently optimized or if there is any room for improvement. And going down the rabbit hole of bling buying shafts could lead to issues rather than fixes and can get expensive and it’s really a guessing game for everyone on here on what to try
  25. Swing speed isn’t a major determining factor in shaft selection. Also flex isn’t that important either. There’s no standard in the industry and some x flex shafts play softer than other x flex shafts. Weight and shaft profile are much more important to consider. The way a person swings and relaxes the club will be a larger role and how that swing affects balls flight. 2 people swinging at the same speed but have different transitions will need different shaft flex and/or profile. Getting the right head and shaft combo to optimize launch, spin, apex, descent angle. If you are getting a new driver find a reputable fitter to get you in the right setup.
