  1. Glad to see some of the fellow testers are getting their putters. Mine was ordered a bit later so hopefully it will be on the way soon. One issue that has me a bit worried is I was not able to get fit for my putter. If you use the Find a Fitter feature on the Edel website it lists 4 locations in Wisconsin (all Golftec) that carry the Array system. Unfortunately all four of these locations are franchised and not corporate Golftec, and their kits still have not arrived. I called Club Champion as well but my location (Milwaukee) is not receiving the Array system. I hope Edel has a clear winner with the new line of putters, but I can see one of the big downsides is they are not available outside of a few select fitters. Shout out to the MGS mods for working behind the scenes to get things figured out. The plan for now is to receive an Array based on my gamer specs and then go through the fitting process once my local Golftec has them in stock. The great thing about having a modular putter is the ability to make a lot of changes even after the club is built.
  2. I heard Stack had a new putting app but I haven't looked at it before. I see they offer a free 30 day trial; I may have to download this once the Edel arrives for some indoor competition. One of the upsides about living in a northern state where you get 70° days followed by snow is you tend to go a bit stir crazy. Why is that an upside? Because the latest snowfall led me to head to my nearest home improvement store and buy 6' x 21' of artificial turf to use in my garage. I put together a makeshift stimpmeter using the ball return from my Perfect Practice mat and my phone as a level to make sure I was at 20° slope when releasing the ball. It's hard to see in the picture but I also have it marked at 30" to determine where to start the ball from. Is it perfect? No, but it's close enough to know approximately what the turf is rolling at. I have a PuttOUT that works great for all the straight on putts, but if I want to go from other angles I might have to find a different cup. Chalk seems to work really well to mark off locations. I'm thinking of testing left, middle, and right at 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18 feet. The full length of 21' (or max length of 21.84' for you Pythagorean theorem nerds) may be used as the final challenge tiebreaker.
  3. I'm in no rush after waking up to this yesterday. At least we'll be in the 50's this week so the snow will melt fast.
  4. Pretty ugly day with the Odyssey today. Greens were still full of sand and very bumpy. 10 day forecast looks terrible here so hopefully I'll have my Edel Array on order by the time I have my next outdoor round. The 25-50 foot strokes gained is deceiving as I lucked out on a 42 foot birdie putt that bounced about 10 times on it's way to the hole but somehow went in.
  5. Hoping to get out to the course on Saturday for some more pre-Edel work. High of 52° with winds 15-20mph. Indoor work on the Perfect Practice mat continues. Current record for most made 8 footers in a row is 31. Next highest after that is in the high teens so I'm not sure what happened to make that many in a row. Must have something to do with the headcover motivation at the end of the ramp. You don't mess around with Prison Mike watching you.
  6. I'm fine not being one of the three testers who has an Array ordered for them already. Really. I'm fine. My fitting this Saturday can't come soon enough!
  7. Not sure of @Woodrow72's numbers, but I'm basing my make rate expectations on Arccos data. My make rates from last year are decent compared to a scratch handicap, but I could use some improvement in 3 putting from 25-39 feet. Strange how I struggle in that range but am better than scratch from 40+ feet. If the below images are hard to read the vertical lines are my current make and three putt percentages while the gray bars are Arccos target/expected rates for a 0.0 handicap index. Glad to see I haven't three putted from inside of 10' yet!
  8. The Perfect Practice mat is OK. It's great for a quick few minutes of putting practice but with all the lines it takes a lot of guesswork out of alignment. It's not that difficult to make 10+ eight footers in a row, which I know I would rarely do on a real green. I'm on the lookout for other ways to test the Edel Array indoors without breaking the bank spending $450+ on a Puttr or ExPutt simulator. I have an old and fairly beat up Big Moss mat similar to the one below that I may have to dig out of the garage.
  9. Ugh, 8 days left to my fitting. The wait is killing me! On the bright side I've been using the indoor mat in my office a lot more to prepare for our testing. My work productivity has gone down but my putting is on the upswing.
  10. Right now I have an Evnroll TourTac 90g putter grip on my Odyssey putter. I've also used SuperStroke Pistol 1.0 grips a fair amount in the past. I wouldn't mind going with one of the Edel dual layered grips but we'll see how they feel when I have my fitting in less than 2 weeks.
  11. In the past 10' and in has been almost immediate with a new putter. Where it usually takes more work for me is for longer putts; making sure I lag them close enough to the hole where I don't have a ton of knee knockers left.
  12. Reading through all these updates today makes me really jealous you guys have already had your fittings. Mine is scheduled for March 16th, so I have a ways to go yet. Thanks to the unseasonably warm weather in Wisconsin I was able to go out and play a round this morning with my current gamer. I ended up with 35 putts (1 three putt), but the greens were still covered with sand from the winter. It's really hard to gauge speed putting through these.
  13. I would think shorter putts would be a pretty quick adjustment for everyone. My bigger concern is longer distance lag putts. Coming from a fairly soft feeling white hot insert on my Odyssey I'm expecting a bit of an adjustment period to the milled face of the Arrays. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  14. With any of these "rare" covers it's all about what someone is willing to pay for it. From a quick search on eBay you can find Scotty covers with the divot tool in the recently sold range of $35 up to $450. You'd probably be somewhere in the middle to lower end of that since it would take a very specific buyer to pay top dollar for a hotel chain like Ritz-Carlton.
  15. Not sure on that yet. Edel does sell them for $45 through their website, so it's always an option down the road if the putter seems solid but the alignment is off once we take them out on the course.
  16. I'd be lying if I said I was expecting anything other than the F-2 in the fitting. That being said, I'll definitely hit all four models and build whatever gives me the best results.
  17. Intro post is up! As always let us know if you have any specific questions or things you'd like to see out of our reviews.
  18. Morning everyone! A lot of golf courses are starting to open up here in Wisconsin, which is very unusual for February. Of course since it's so early we still run into days like this: This gif has been used to death, but I feel it's pretty appropriate in this case.
  19. Some of you have already mentioned working out at gyms, but are any of the testers going strictly with the home workout aspect of the program? I've dabbled in Fit for Golf before and Mike really likes cable machines for various pulls and twists. I tried replicating using resistance bands, but it was always difficult to find something that was stretchy enough to complete the full motion, but strong enough to actually give me a good bit of resistance. Eager to see how you all get along with the new program. Good luck!
  20. Super excited about this one. If the Edel Array putters and fitting process is half as good as predicted we should all be in for a real treat.
  21. Hey everyone! Bucky CC checking in from the great state of Wisconsin. Before we get started I wanted to give a huge shout out and sincere thank you to MyGolfSpy, the MGS forum, fellow Spy’s big and small, and of course, Edel. I’ve been lucky enough to do a few tests and every time they are the absolute highlight of my year. Here I am about to die while my son has the time of his life. I’ve been playing golf for more than 30 years now. Started around age 10 in the backyard trying to be like my older brother and have been playing ever since. I spent most of 2023 as a 4 handicap with all aspects of my game being fairly equal. My home course has a lot of penalty areas off the tee, so when I keep the ball in play I tend to stay in the mid 70’s. You can see from the graphic above putting is actually one of my stronger traits. But if that’s true, why have I had 12 putters going back to the last real fitting I had in 2011? In order (to the best of my memory): Odyssey Dual Force 668, Odyssey Works #1 Wide Versa, Bettinardi Kuchar Model 1 (standard length), 2015 Ping Ketsch Mid, Evnroll ER2, Evnroll ER5 Odyssey Stroke Lab Black 7 S, Odyssey Stroke Lab Black 7, TaylorMade Spider SR, PXG Battle Ready Bat Attack, Evnroll ER5 (black this time), Odyssey White Hot OG Stroke Lab 7 As you can see, I’m a bit of a putter hoe (and have a things for Mallets in the #7 mold). When I saw the testing opportunity for the Edel Array I thought I finally found the holy grail of tests for my game. Not only would I be getting a new putter (lucky #13!), but I would have the opportunity to go through one of the most comprehensive fittings to build an extremely customized putter built to my exact specifications. I plan to test the Edel (model # to be determined) against my current Odyssey White Hot OG #7 indoors on putts up to 10. Once the weather warms up a bit I’ll take things outdoors for a head to head battle and a look against over 175 rounds of Arccos data. My expectation is that the fitting will build an immediate trust level knowing the Array will be fit to my exact aiming tendencies, path bias, stroke type, etc. I’m hoping to see immediate improvement on the greens from 10’ and in since I'll conceivably be lining up the putter correctly and have something that fits my exact stroke. My biggest worry at the moment is how the milled face will feel against the soft White Hot OG insert I spent all last year getting used to. Long putts could be an issue for a while. And if everything falls apart and I stay the exact same I'll at least be able to prove that it’s not the putter, it’s the guy holding the club. Not sure if my teenage daughter would be impressed or horrified that I used a Taylor Swift gif
  22. It's fine. Don't love it, don't hate it. Won't be buying anything if it's as overpriced as everyone is predicting. Like a lot of the other comments the logo seems pretty weak. I'm sure they ran into the issue that there are already 10million other tiger/big cat logos out there so they had to try and come up with something different. It's too bad they couldn't have brought over the Frank headcover logo.
  23. Haven't tried the iCrossover yet, but I did pick up a used G410 crossover on the cheap late last year. Like you I was looking for something a little more consistent in my 4 hybrid. I only got to play it a few times before winter hit, but it was magical. The easy high flight helped me stick a few 2nd shots onto par 5 greens that would have normally rolled through the green. Distance wise it is a few yards shorter than my Cobra hybrid, but it makes up for that having a higher trajectory and tighter dispersion. The 3 hybrid could be in trouble if the 4 crossover continues to perform well.
  24. Pretty boring year for me. At the start of the year I was hoping to practice more and drop down into the two's (taste the 2's! as Chasing Scratch would say), but life got in the way and my practice sessions all but dried up as we hit the summer.
  25. Agreed. Absolutely beautiful putters (maybe not so much with the 11). Would be a day 1 buy for me if they actually had some sort of technological advantage/story to them. Hard to justify $400+ on looks alone.
