Rtracymog reacted to Bogeys ov in BGT Zne Wedge Shaft
So bare with me as this is my first post, but I hope this will help BGT and was curious if you all have noticed the same issues...
So I also watched the video and had to try these shafts! the dispersion element was most interesting and I couldnt pass up the opportunity. So I had my DG TI S400's pulled and put the BGT ZNE 130 in my new Cleveland RTX Zipcore wedges(58 & 54).
My initial reaction was that they felt VERY stable(stiff) which is what I was looking for and expected. I went out and practiced/played I ended up loveing them as I found that they truly did help with my dispersion and did not impact my feel and touch around the greens/bunkers. They actually gave me extra confidence out of the rough as I play in SC and our course has very deep/think Bermuda rough and I felt as I did not have to worry about the face shutting down. But here come the unfortunate part....
After less than a month totaling 15-20 hours of practice and 4 or 5 rounds I noticed that the my shots were starting to be very inconsistent and I could not figure out what was wrong to save my life. Then one day on the range I noticed that the shafts looked bent in the tip section. Unfortunately, both of the shafts had failed at the connection point had bent backwards. The shop I use had some new ones that they were going to swap but upon further examination we noticed that all of the shafts(including the unused ones) were not straight and when rolled was very noticeable. They reached out to BGT and they replaced all of their inventory with new goods but the replacements also had the same issue.
I really did love the way these shafts felt and played but I will have a hard time trying them again as I have lost confidence in the quality/durability... it was an expensive experiment so I will let others test until they can get the kinks ironed out.
Has anyone else noticed these issues?

What do you think the first product will be for member testing this year?

The paint fill in the pictures provided is poor.
I did get a chance to see them at the PGA show and putted with them.
As one can imagine the LH models were not as many and is a good business decision.
However the models appear to be more modern with an update to the darker color AND weights on the bottom.
The cost here in the US will be something in the range of $250 -$280 ish.
from the feel perspective they were on par with the big boys making it a matter of find the proper length lie, model and grip.

Got a chance to roll these at the PGA Show - they did a really nice job with them.  The Zebra name, along with the MacGregor, Ram and Teardrop names were purchased by Golf Brands, Inc from DICK's between 2019 and 2020. It's taken a while to get to market, thanks to the pandemic, but they're available now at Zebragolf.com.
They did a really nice job with these putters - nothing fancy or groundbreaking, but nice putters at a pretty decent, but no bargain basement price. They were designed by Austie Rollinson - if you don't know who Austie is, you should. He worked on these putters and the new MacGregor irons (blog post coming next week - do NOT miss it!) from mid-2020 thru the end of 2021 on an 18-month contract. Prior to working with Golf Brands, Inc - Austie was head of design for Odyssey - you've heard of the 2-Ball, White Hot, Triple Track and others?  Those are Austie's designs.  He also worked on a variety of Callaway and Callaway-era Hogan irons during his time there. His name is on over 300 golf club patents and his designs have sold over $5billion worth of clubs.
And he's currently director of putter R&D with Acushnet/Titleist.
So no, these are not off-the-shelf open models. Zebra did it right.
They're in house for Most Wanted testing - we'll see how they do.

Always interesting when I see old brands emerge again.  In my opinion these are zebra in name only.  When I think of zebra this is what comes to my mind and always will

As we have crossed the date into 2023 it is time for an update to this thread.
A lot if not all of you know we had some changes in terms of testing opportunities in 2022 which was scaled back in terms of what had become the norm in prior years. While I do not have a schedule for the upcoming season as to what is on the horizon I can tell you we will have some great opportunities once again coming to our forum members.
That being said as we do not know exactly how many tests are coming there are a few things I want to make everyone aware of before we head in.
First is despite what many of the social media posts say for example "must follow" "tag 2 or 3 friends" etc we still select the testers as mods and our requirements have not changed. We still actively try to bring in new testers and we value activity on the forum first and foremost... which leads into my next point.
We had a good group last year as a whole, however we did have a few who went mia which is unfortunate however it does happen. However forum activity is going to be very important and a larger consideration moving forward. While we still will work hard to get new members involved, recent activity will be a very important focus point for us. This doesn't mean life time posting and history of posts, but recent activity on the forum.
Next is as we do not know how many tests are coming there will be a cap at one test per year per tester. This may be overridden on golf ball tests as they are smaller, but just know that if you apply for a test and are selected that will be your test for the season. In other words choose carefully what you apply for and only apply for those tests that you want to test or are excited to test.
We are excited for this coming year and it will kick off with the Cobalt test who will have testers announced in the coming days. It has been great to see some off season tests this season and of course if you have questions reach out!
For those of you who want some quick hit points to being selected here are some tips we look for!
    1. Profile photo - no photo no selection its that simple
    2. Get involved - we want to see that you going to do a good review for our community so having some posting history even if brief is important!
    3. Complete your profile: Even if it is 75% complete that is considered completed (the other 25% is for additional questions which you can answer by going into profile settings) however having a profile completed to the 75% shows interest in the forum.
    4. Follow the forum instructions! (ie please do not apply here ... if anything it will hurt chances)
    5. Finally ask questions, start a thread of your own, introduce yourself or any of that!

We often select one new tester per test and there are many of them here in this thread that can attest to that or some that will hopefully chime in after seeing this post!
Once again if you have questions just ask! Whether here or via the PM system to the mods we will be happy to assist where we can!

I'll pile on here, this is one of the most considerate and respectful forums I've ever been a part of, so please join in with your opinions and experiences.  Another thing to add, do not underestimate the amount of effort that it takes to do a good review.  It involves a big investment of time and attention to do it right.  I've been lucky enough to be selected for a few opportunities, and each one is both a lot of fun, and a good bit of stress trying to get it right.  Yeah, I've been "given" some free gear, but that gift comes with a responsibility to honestly evaluate and document my experiences with a new bit of gear, to take good photos or videos, to write clearly, basically to justify the trust the mods have had in me.  Welcome to MGS, I'll watch for your posts.

    Really it is okay.
There is only so much we can do. The title of the thread, the front end message spells it all out and is as big and bold as can be. However many will read what they want to and ignore much else. We try to make it clear, but only so much that we can do.
Trust me we have significantly larger other priorities than the pick me pick me comments, which are explicitly stated not to be posted in this thread.

We are creeping up on testing season and we have many new members who will want to get in on the testing action. It isn't that difficult to be selected, but we do look for certain things from our members. If you are curious what they are you can read the post that is 2 up from this one and it will give you a quick shot of what we look for.
For more in depth please go to the first page and read the long winded, but very thorough post which was done last year. It goes through all the ins outs and more to help your efforts in getting selected!

Hi Spies! Does anyone have any experience with the Riptide LX? I've used the evenflow black before and had good results. I've seen a good deal on this shaft and I was looking for feedback. I've never tried any of the riptide stuff before. I've gotten along with shafts that are pretty stiff and stable (Rogue Silver 70x, Motore F1 7X, VTS Black 7x). I've got some speed, but I wouldn't say that my transition is super aggressive. Also, I'm pretty happy with tipping all of these shafts so if you have any specific feedback on the 7X vs the 7TX, I would be all ears! Thanks!

Selling my Mevo+ with Pro package. Also included is the metal Fixed Alignment Dock, Awesome Golf (lifetime subscription), two sleeves of Titleist ProV1 RCT balls and aftermarket charger with 6’ cord.
This unit has worked perfect since the day I got it. With my setup in my garage, a camera based system is more practical and works better for simulation in the space I have. I can share lots of videos /pics with anyone interested to show the unit / data. Awesome Golf is amazing and apparently just got a major update (graphics). I used it 95% of the time...it's that good. Gavin (one of developers) said the subscription would follow the unit.
I'm asking $2200 plus shipping. Please ask any questions you may have. Anyone looking for a launch monitor and has the room for a radar based setup, will not be disappointed with this unit.
