  1. I bought a Garmin Approach S20 last year and I love it. It is a mid range GPS watch. It doesn't have a color screen, but that doesn't take away from it. I am currently wearing it as my everyday watch. I have to remember to charge it before I go play a round. It holds it's charge very well. It has had every course I have ever played, even on vacations. It appears to be very accurate and it gives front middle and back of the green. I like using the scorecard feature, even though I keep track the old fashioned way too. I can then download the data into my iphone app. I would highly recommend it. The downside; You can't use it for practice at a range, only on the course. You have to make sure it has enough charge for the round of golf. It always has so far, but if it was at 30% I don't know if I would trust it. There are times where a rangefinder would be useful, but I love the ease of use on the course. I look at my watch and it gives me the yardage instantly. I hope this helps.
  2. I just bought a box of Noodles in the neon red. Overall I was pretty pleased with them. On a couple of shots, I lost the ball flight in air, but that probably had more to do with the weather. Locating my ball on the ground, the color helped tremendously. I don't know if I will stick with the red golf balls, but for now I am liking them.
  3. It seems to be pretty durable. Judging by the quality and construction of the tarp, I don't think it will fail without warning. Sometimes it will retain the shape of the impact within the net. But if you stretch the tarp with a little tension it will take out those areas. From the use it has seen, I think it will hold up for years. I will add that I don't hit a driver in it very much and my ball speeds are fairly low. I don't know if I would trust it if you're a long drive competitor.
  4. So I built a driving net this year. Reading posts on this forum, I saw several people recommend using a mesh tarp from Harbor Freight. I think I spent about $25 on the net. It was 10'X12'. I purchased 1 1/2" PVC for the frame. I used 4-10' sticks. The frame demensions are 8'X8' and had 2' supporting legs from the remnants. I secured the net with zip ties. I probably spent $50 dollars for the frame. It works really good as far as I can tell. Keep your tarp loose, so it absorbs the energy from the ball. I stand fairly close to the net, (at least closer than the booths at golf shops). It was a fun little project, and now I can at least hit golf balls regardless of the weather.
  5. I like Fozcycle's style. His intro was entertaining. He deserves the Week 1 honors.
  6. So I ordered a used copy of this book through Amazon for $10 including shipping. When I opened it up, I saw that it was autographed by Pelz. How cool is that?
  7. I don't know. My thought was that maybe I don't compress the ball enough at impact. I usually hit my driver pretty straight, but I was using Pro V1s and all my drives were slicing. I didn't hit 1 straight shot. I went back to my cheap 2 piece balls and the ball flight went back to straight. It could just be coincidence.
  8. As a high handicap player with a fairly slow swing speed, I can't hit Pro V1s. I hit my driver pretty straight, but I constantly slice the Pro V1 off the tee. I mostly play ionomer covered balls, for cost reasons.
  9. Thanks plaid! I have been looking at that model too. I read an old article on mgs about wearing a watch may change your golf swing, so maybe this is the direction I should go.
  10. Thanks JohnSmalls and Toehold. It helps to hear real feedback on these things. I guess I will be making a purchase soon.
  11. I would love to hear from anyone who has a Garmin Approach watch. I have been looking at the approach s20. You can find them for $130.00. I have some questions about them. I wonder how accurate they are? If you run across courses that are not loaded? How they compare to a rangefinder? I would love to hear real use reviews. Thanks in advance!
  12. Nitros are pretty bad. I have taken them out of my shag bag altogether. I will hit just about everything else.
