  3. Not following how loft has anything at all to do with smash factor when it's an equation of swing speed and ball speed Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  4. Got there just in conveying that I don't think there is any benefit at all of having it in. I think the likelihood of the pin keeping a ball from dropping in is more than it stopping one going too hard and letting it drop in. Using the approach shot statement as an example - and will use even Hatton's crazy backspinner as an example in that I think if the pin wasn't there it would have dropped. 5. So all those approach shots we see all the time hit the flags and bounce off and spin off the greens aren't being affected by hitting the pin? Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  6. I'm actually the opposite. Best fitting I had was on a LM and had them turn the screen off. I wanted no idea of where the ball was going so I couldn't adjust to it. I hit the shot, said if it felt solid and let the numbers fall into place. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  7. Im going to suggest the fitting method/process pretty much set you up to fail. Just going by the number of shafts and heads you mentioned you probably hit, what, 80-100 drives? Easy to find yourself in groove where you start playing ‘beat the launch monitor' rather than fitting to your swing. Plus folks have a tendency to press that X button to delete their bad shots I've always gone with the mindset of use demo days to figure out what club head you want and use the fitting to get the right specs. 8. A couple of things 1) just going to a small shop and thinking you have someone that knows what they are doing means as little as going into a retailer and assuming they know nothing. Have gone into a Golfsmith in the past and worked with some very knowledgeable folks and in contrast have worked with independent folks that only fit off a lie board. You will know in your discussions whether they are worth their salt. 2) Unless you are someone that has a lot of issues getting the ball airborne get whatever head you like the look of. Over the years my view has changed quite a bit and honestly don't think the “forgiveness” thing matters a whole lot. If you're starting out and can't the the clubface at all a big GI club isn't gonna help and if your at all competent a toe shot on a blade vs a GI iron is gonna be negligible when it comes to your score. So get the iron you like and gets you psyched about the set. 3) Most OEMs will let you order an individual club I know for 100% certainty you can from Mizuno and Callaway and have had to order or known folks that have gotten single irons to replace ones lost/damaged so don't think this builder is doing some crazy favor for you 4) The fitters markup seems really high in my opinion. JPX900 tours are currently $125 a club. Obviously not sure how many irons you are looking to add into your set but you could be looking at several hundred dollars on top going to your fitter. I'm a big fan of Mizunos custom build process so I'd get your specs and order directly through on of their reps and put the saved money towards some lessons instead Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  9. Curious as to why leaving the flag in the hole would bother anyone..always seems more likely to keep the ball out than knock it it Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  10. Hey all! Have followed MGS for awhile but finally jumping into the mix. The title isn't an exaggeration I am pretty much addicted to golf. From playing and practicing, to watching and researching equipment there aren't too many days that go by that golf isn't part of it. Currently, I am carrying around a 9 handicap and if I can ever figure out how to have a short game I hope that comes down.
