  1. I've been playing for 30 years and committed to single length irons around mid summer this year. Currently my index has never been lower at 6.3 playing Cobra one length F9 irons. 3 and 4 hybrids and 5-SW in the irons. I also now carry a driver, 3 wood, 56 degree Cleveland CBX and putter, everything else is at 37.5". My swing speed with the one length is right at 80 MPH for reference. Gapping in the irons is better than any set I've ever played despite the various incremental loft changes. The wedges are deadly accurate on full swings. I've had 3 rounds with 3 birdies and one round with 4 because I am getting so much closer to the hole. Usually I'd get one birdie every 3 or 4 rounds. I now own a set of Edel one length irons and the biggest difference is with the Cobra irons I have to move the ball around in my stance to get the best results. Cobra has different offsets and lie angle so that might be why. With the Edel irons there is no offset and all lie angles are the same and for best results the ball position remains the same throughout. Right now I prefer the Cobra irons to the Edel mainly because I have spent more time with them and I think they are better for my swing speed. Every time I play with them I might not score better but I feel like I get more comfortable and learn how to hit them better. The biggest problem with one length is getting to try them on the course without a major financial commitment because they can take some time to get used to.
  2. I have a SkyTrak at home and the numbers on full shots mirror the Z Star that I compared it to the night I tried it in terms of spin. The difference on the course is the Gamer is way better in the wind. I swear the dimple-in-dimple crap straightens the ball out mid flight and the ball just seems to go farther. I'm mid 90s with driver and around 80 MPH with irons so I'm not crushing the ball but this ball just seems to work for me. That being said my best round ever was with the Top Flite D2 Feel at $12 for 15 balls so look at the source. When the MGS ball test came out last year I committed to only playing urethane and my index went up so who knows what works. I'm starting to think if I do the opposite of what I read online I am better off.
  3. I was a MTB-X tester last year and it is a really good ball. No complaints really other than I had to order it on-line which is a personal thing. I lost distance off the tee with the Snell in comparison to the Z Star I was playing at the time. Irons seemed a bit longer though. Every ball I play seems pretty much the same to me anyway but I do track scoring and if I score better with a Top Flite ball then I will play a Top Flite.
  4. So we learned today that I like this ball and he does not. The common thread is the ball.
  5. Have you tried it? I personally haven't found any urethane ball at any price that out performs the Gamer for me in regards to scoring. I guess I shouldn't play one length irons or look at the hole while I putt either.
  6. I think people would be surprised by this ball if they'd actually try it....which most won't. My lowest scores are with balls like these. If I recall John Barba wrote an article about the Wilson Duo and mentioned his lowest round was with the Duo. A guy I play with who uses ProV1s 90% of the time dropped the best score of his life 2 weeks ago using a Supersoft. The Gamer is longer for me off all clubs, straight as an arrow and putts true. Most guys worried they won't check up could probably use some roll out.
  7. I gamed the Nippon 950GH for a long time and loved them. Switched to Project X LZ shafts and after about a month developed elbow pain that wouldn't go away while playing these shafts. After taking the winter off from golf I went back to the 950GH and the pain never returned so I wouldn't rule out the Nippons. The closest shaft I have found to the 950GH in graphite is the Recoil 780 and might as well get the SmacWrap version for more dampening. Both very smooth and responsive but if I recall the Nippon launched higher and had more spin.
  8. My pleasure! On the 5 iron try moving it forward a hair in your stance. It will make a big difference, at least it does for me.
  9. That's it? You must have 4,000 PMs making trades.
  10. Played a member/member over the weekend. Various formats each 9 holes and low score wins. We shot a 28 in the 2 man scramble portion to take a 2 stroke lead with 9 to go. My partner is putting from the fringe and during his practice stroke he knocks the ball backwards. If he were on the green or tee box it isn't a penalty stroke. I guess on the fringe it is. When he did putt he left himself a 1 footer for double and missed it. We lost by 2 strokes but had a ton of fun....other than that hole.
  11. Seriously, they are great and worth a try. I’m not giving them away but a free trial is all yours. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  12. I have a set of single lengths I can send you to try if you’d like. Just let me know. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  13. Picked up a Powacaddy electric golf cart and a set of Edel SLS-01 irons. Probably lose the wife over these two purchases but I needed them.
  14. I've been gaming the 2020 Top Flite Gamer and my index is down to 6.6 with it. Never been lower. Even the caddies at Baltusrol laughed at it. I won't hold my breath for the ball lab testing on this ball.
  15. Thanks to all of you for putting this together and congrats to Apolloshowl on the win.
  16. I was a guest at the club and my member buddy told me to give him a hundred bucks so I did. I think the going rate for the caddie is $70 so it was a $30 tip. I had to fix my divots as well which I kind of expected him to do but I guess my expectations are established by what I see on TV watching the pros. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
  17. Thanks buddy! The real kick in the nads is we had to use a caddie and he told me to club up and both times he did I flew the green and landed in bunkers. Took me two shots to get out each time. Then the d-bag made me rake my own bunkers. I have never hit my irons as crisp as I did the other day but it was like playing on carpet the fairways were so nice.
  18. Bunkers killed me the other day and cost me a couple of additional strokes. I really need to work on that.
  19. I had the chance to play the upper course at Baltusrol on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure I had the only American made car in the lot. They are redoing the lower course but the place as a whole is unbelievable. The history in the clubhouse alone is worth the visit. Anyway, shot a 40/40 for 80 from the club tees so it was only at 6200 yards.
  20. Do you keep a regular handicap or just an Arccos handicap?
  21. You can come....I need some walking around money. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  22. We have room for one Saturday morning. Around 7:30am and walking. Bring cash. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
  23. That is a great score at that course but those are some big greens. Want to come to the club again?
  24. Welcome to the club! They are a ton of fun to play and my scores are dropping plus a lot of birdies. Full swing wedges are so much more accurate for me. Club Champion should have my new set ready this week so they will go head-to-head with the off the rack set I'm using now. I hope the losing set finds a good home to someone that wants to try them.
  25. My company is preparing to produce millions of these N95s but selling them is the biggest bunch of political BS I have ever seen. Makes me wish we didn’t even bother. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy
