  1. I play or practice most days of the year and use a lob wedge for 99% of my shots inside 70 yards or so. It is usually replaced once a year. The others I can stretch out longer. Gap is usually changed when irons are changed.
  2. https://www.truetempersports.com/en-us/golf/golf/steel-iron-shafts/dynamic-gold-steel-shafts/dynamic-gold-spinner.html “For years, there has been a little-known trick used on Tour to increase wedge spin when needed: a longer length shaft. On Tour, these longer length shafts are referred to as “Spinners”. Using a longer length shaft not only increases tip flexibility but also reduces total shaft weight, resulting in a higher spinning wedge than a wedge with a standard-length shaft. True Temper is now bringing this Tour secret to the rest of the golfing world with the new Dynamic Gold Spinner shaft. When compared to the Tour’s leading Dynamic Gold S400, Dynamic Gold Spinner features a 5% weight reduction and longer, more active tip section to maximize spin and give you Tour player stopping power.”
  3. They were my sons. He grew out of the head style and shaft and is in something else now.
  4. 4i was sold individually. Now 5-GW and price dropped.
  5. I know I'm late to this post, but my son has had the 939x hybrid and fairway for 6+ months and they perform as good as any other properly fit hybrid/fairway, but at a much lower cost. The paint on the soles has worn faster than big OEM clubs, but it's not something you see at address or has any role in performance. We may pick up a 4h or 4 utility for him in the near future. I like the look of 699 irons, but they aren't the style iron I prefer to play and I can't stand the fish scale milling on all the others. It looks especially bad to me when on the same head as straight milled lines.
  6. Mine started at 6. He would have probably started sooner, but he was 6 when I picked up the game and he wanted to do what I was doing. He’s now 14 and a competitive junior golfer that shoots in the mid to upper 70’s the majority of the time.
  7. Currently it’s close to 0*. I started playing ~8 years ago and was massively over the top. A year or two in I worked with an instructor who was a former stack and tilt guy. While he didn’t specifically try to teach me that method, we did end up getting me all the way to 14* right. He was having me over do it with the thought that I’d be able to able dial it back. I’ve been working on dialing it back ever since...I knew it was getting better as my skill improved and scores dropped, but it was only recently that I learned it was close to 0*. But that was one session on a monitor so it could have been a one off event.
  8. As a Decade follower, I agree. Attempting to switch to a fade wouldn't change my course management decisions or beliefs on how dispersion patterns work. I'm just wondering if a fade would shrink down those cones/patterns for me. I just haven't had an opportunity to since this thread started because of non-stop rain for over a week now in my area.
  9. FS - 2019 PXG 0211 Iron Set - 5-GW, True Temper Elevate Tour Stiff shafts, Golf Pride Tour Velvet Midsize. Stock length/loft/lie. Condition is "Used". Clubs have normal wear, including scuffs and/or scratches on the soles, and a small amount of ferrule creep on a couple of the irons. (see photos). Original owner, purchased less than a year ago (9/2020). I paid just over $900 and am looking to get $500 shipped (continental US only). Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. ** 4i in pictures not included, it was sold separately **
  10. So do you take your grip after you address the club and take your stance or grip first with a square stance and then drop your lead foot back to open the stance? I know I'd have to try various methods myself to see what would work best, but I'm curious how others do it. In the past if I try to aim left of the target with the face pointed somewhere between my path and the target I generally end up hitting dead pulls. So maybe I need to keep the face at where I want the ball to end up based on my grip/swing/etc.
  11. Yep, they are legit.
  12. Does anyone have any data, like Gears averages for tour pros, that shows how the majority that play a fade go about accomplishing the shot? Specifically, are they opening the stance, playing a specific ball location, altering the clubs to fade (grip size, face angle, weighting), etc. On average, my path is close to zero, but I miss both directions. I’m just curious if I should attempt to turn my stock shot into a consistent fade.
  13. 1. No 2. Maybe 40 yards. Back greenside bunker to a front pin... I've had plenty of shots out to 230+ yards land or end up within inches of the hole numerous times, but none fall. I've been playing for 8 years and am a 10 that can shoot 38 on a nine one day and 47 the next.
  14. I’m no expert, but from what I’ve seen/read early extension is usually the culprit.
  15. I look for deals and prefer to spend closer to $100 a pair than $200. The Inesis shoes are probably the best value. I’ve had the best luck with durability with Footjoys.
  16. If you can get on Trackman they have a shot optimizer feature. They also created a series of charts to show what carry/total is when optimized based on AOA, launch, and spin:
  17. Does my username on The Grint need to match my username here? It shows my first initial and last name. How would MGS know who posted the score if usernames don’t match?
  18. I like range finders because I don't have to worry about charging them. I replace the battery probably once a year. My son is a junior golfer and his leagues don't allow GPS devices, but allow range finders. Since I play every day with him it makes more sense to use what he's going to use in competition. I tried a Garmin GPS watch and forgot to charge it more than once or would think it was sufficiently charged only to lose power mid-round. I also play daily, so that probably makes a range finder easier to manage. I guess I could have just charged the watch every night. I also don't like wearing a watch or my wedding ring when I play golf. I do wear an apple watch daily now, so maybe I should try again at some point using it with an app like the Grint or GolfLogix.
  19. Bump with price drop on the UDI from $175 to $165.
  20. I can walk through every shot of my most recent round in my head, most of the rounds before that, and maybe 10-20 in my own highlight real.
  21. For sale: Used TM 2019 UDI 2i stock length/lie/loft with HZRDUS Smoke 100 6.5 shaft, and tour velvet 360 standard size grip - $165 shipped continental US. - SOLD Used HZRDUS Smoke 60 6.0 wood shaft, cut to 43.5” to play at 45” with Titleist adapter and midsize Tour Velvet 360 white grip - $50 shipped continental US. - SOLD
  22. That tournament has to have the worst name/logo in all of sports.
  23. HZRDUS Black 65 6.5. Because I wanted to try a shaft in the 60 gram range and the HZRDUS Black fits the general profile of shafts I've been previously fit into. It works well enough, but I'll likely go back to a 70 gram range shaft at some point.
