  1. Question for you power users: I had to set up the tees on the app for our sister course which I play on a rare occasion - no problem in setting up the different tee boxes. However, when I start the X5 (gps & tracking) only the white tee box comes up. Yes I have sync'd the course. Am I missing something or should I get SS tech support involved? Oh and FYI, yes I did read the manual and I didn't see any reference to this issue.
  2. Using a glue gun while it's sticky and lasts a long time is not a permanent. Gorilla or any other instant glue is permanent. I like the idea of ordering extra putter sensors as I regularly change my putter grip.
  3. +1 for gluing it. I used Gorilla Instant Glue - the putter sensor has been on for months and no sign of it loosening.
  4. I agree, and to further help out - using PAVG which knocks out the outliers instead of AVG or Longest. During the winter we have lots of wind, like today, it was blowing 25. Launch the drive high into the wind and watch it come down like a lead ballon or that long drive downwind will get knocked out in the outliers. I assume that would be comparable to hitting a sloped fairway (either way).
  5. After my cataract surgery, I found that I really don't need glasses except for distance as I'm shortsighted. However, I did get a pair of progressive glasses plus a pair of distance only sunglasses, since they were only $50. more at Costco. I love the glasses (brown lens), they're "Champion Elite". The bill for both was $350. After insurance, both only cost me $100. 3 cheers for Costco.
  6. Thx for including in the distribution list. Hope I can make a summer event.
  7. Wow that was fast - especially since I requested a lefty TM connector! I ordered the 2 & 3 dot demo the beginning of the week and they arrived last yesterday afternoon (standard free shipping). It was too late for hitting the driving range and today's weather is miserable rain and wind combo here in Florida. Tomorrow's weather is sunny, high 70's and less wind AND couples 18 hole shamble. I've already switched out the Shotscope sensors (to the 3 dot) so I should get a pretty good feel for distance and dispersion performance tomorrow. I've got 4 scheduled games next week so between those and the range I should get a pretty good feel for both.
  8. I paid $350 for my Sim 2 which was virtually unused a couple of years ago. This past summer I upgraded it to a slightly used Stealth 2, both from Global Golf.
  9. Great pictures! FYI, my wife did the bridge climb many years ago. Also at the time I was working for a construction materials company and got to climb the 'sails' on the opera house.
  10. I agree - and is confirmed by my experience from a TM fitting a few weeks ago. Last year's driver model performed as well as this year's. On the other hand, I'm getting ready to test a new Darkspeed 3 wood to replace my Radspeed, which is now 4 generations old and hoping for higher performance.
  11. Based on everything I'm reading online, the common recommendation is to go up one dot. As I mentioned in my post, Angelo recommended I try the 3 dot even though the 2 dot specs fit my distance numbers. However, he just didn't go by that spec, since I was also able to give him AOA, Launch Angle and Swing Speed along with the shafts that worked or haven't worked in the past for me.
  12. Did you try the Qi10 standard as well? When I had my TM fitting one of the 2 finalists was a Qi10 at 9* dialed up to 10.5* with the Bassara shaft. Note I normally swing a 10.5 at standard loft. The fitter was trying to lower my spin rate and that configuration got me to about 2900 rpm. BTW the other option was a 10.5 with the Riptide.
  13. Totally agree on Cobra. I've got a Radspeed 3 wood that outperformed the Qi10 at a recent fitting. It's getting a bit long in the tooth and I'm considering a Darkspeed 3 wood as a replacement. As to my irons, I still love my Speedzones - they're well over 5 yrs old (playing roughly 150 rds. a year) and look brand new. No need to be thinking about replacing those. Same for Vice, although I'm disappointed they're out of stock on the neon green version of Pros. Had to buy some Maxflis until they neon greens are back in stock.
  14. They do preauthorize your card for the full amount. Here's a screen shot confirming. FYI, I ordered it online yesterday afternoon and UPS picked it up that night (standard free shipping) delivery this Thursday. Note: the card won't be charged until April 15th for "what I keep"
  15. To all of the testers: Is the only difference between last years Tour and the 2024 the "Align Technology", which just looks like a wider ball mark? Is performance the same? I just bought 2 doz 2023 Tour in Yellow, because Vice was out of stock in the Pro series Neon Green. The ball appears to have similar flight characteristics to the Pro, but I was disappointed when I found a 'nick' in the cover after about 9 holes. That ball was always on the fairway or green - never hit a cartpath, tree, etc. I'm looking for a temporary substitute for the Pro, however, just having the alignment mark isn't enough for me to convert.
  16. That's amazing - I can't get our Cavalier puppy to stand still let alone sit while I'm hitting a ball.
  17. Hah! I've been to your Woolworths, but not the fish markets. My daughter and her husband generally go out on their boat to catch Tuna along with diving for Abalone (in season) so no need to hit the fish markets. Also when she comes up here she brings loads of anzac cookies. Oh and remember courses do have rental clubs - we always rented when we played in Tassie.
  18. When I talked to Angelo last week he thought I was between a 2 dot and 3 dot. He suggested I wait for the intro of their "Try Before You Buy" program and get both to see which one works best. That program went online today and I just ordered both the 2 and the 3, and I have until April 15th to try both of them. In case you're not aware it's called their 'Demo' program.
  19. I have a strong dislike to Greg Norman - but the shirts are comfy in Florida heat and humidity .
  20. I've played at a lot of courses - both exclusive and munis and have never run across people dressed inappropriately. Yes our private club in Ohio had a dress code - but late fall it was overlooked (most of the members were gone). At that club I wore (black) jeans and my wife wore flannel lined jeans - no way we were wearing regular golf gear when it was cloudy, wind blowing 20 mph and 45*. It didn't abide by the dress code but on the other hand it wasn't inappropriate. I've never saw a 'dress code' at munis but then I was never looking for one. Have I seen on the course: mankinis? nope. Ladies dressed linked Paige? nope. I'm not offended by joggers type pants, cargo shorts, collarless shirts, ladies in short skirts, etc. I don't think munis need a dress code - most people use common sense. Private clubs - that's their prerogative and something you sign up for when you join. I'm more offended by smokers leaving their butts on the tee box & green or cigar smokers thinking everyone enjoys being downwind of you, then clothing others wear. As to cost - yes name brand golf clothing can be expensive, but you can buy same brand golf gear at many discount stores and that clothing is no more expensive then your "daily" type of clothing. In Florida, we have a discount chain called Bealls - where you can generally buy Greg Norman or Nike shirts for $20. Shorts not that much more. p.s. Where I think they need a dress code is at Walmart. I was there yesterday and the first 2 things I thought was "do you have a mirror at home?" and "do you really think spandex is flattering"?
  21. Love the 'clouds' pic - very cool. Hope you brought your clubs - King Island is just a short hop away. Then of course there's Barnboogle just a little further south! Enjoy your stay - hope it's a long one.
  22. Had to do the same with our 12 yr. old Cairn Terrier because of a heart condition. It was several years ago - I still remember the trip to the vet as if it was yesterday.
  23. Same here. Since I play the same courses 95% of the time, I don't need a lot of the features of the X5, shortcuts would be awesome. As to tagging, I concur with those using either the V3 or X5, the 'tagging process' is automatic. No need to tag, the antenna in the band picks up the club virtually all of the time.
  24. CPX +3 wraps on everything but the wedges. MCC + 4 plus 3 1/2 wraps on the wedges.
  25. You preselect the 9's on your phone? I have the same issue of 3 - 9's. Most times we don't know which nine we're playing until we check in. However, I was unaware that both nines can be preselected. In the past I would change to the proper back 9 before stopping by the men's room between the 9's then lose gps sat (more often with the V3 then X5) , and forget to reset it for the proper 9 including gps/tracking. With the X5, I found that I can just wait with screen on 'play back 9' til I get to the first tee on the back and then select the course & gps/tracking. It would be nice to preselect but my sense is that courses that have 3 - 9's are few and far between. Given my choice for programming initiatives between preselecting 9's or being able to download data to an excel file I'd chose the latter.
