Well, except that we suffering that driver problem don't want to exacerbate the issue by using a high spin ball.  I do think the AVX is helping me a bit as it has a lower trajectory, more piercing ball flight than the PV1 and Maxfli Tour.

@Brian A, when I did the phone ball fitting with Titleist a few years ago, it was either the AVX or the PV1 that the fitter said would be best for me.  I also fight an OTT swing with my long sticks.  My driver ss is ~96.  I honestly see little difference in shorter approach iron spin/green holding between the PV1 and AVX... but my spin is a little lower (200-300) with the AVX.

I got the same results but when I asked about left dash/dot he said they don’t fit for those.  I liked the low spin/trajectory of AVX,

I can assure you as a high spin driver guy that used to slice very often, no ball change is gonna matter.

Right I don’t expect it to fix the problem but will Avx being too soft increase the problem and lose distance or is left dash being firmer the better optin

  3. So I’m in need of help figuring out what ball to play.  I have always liked the AVX and when I did the phone / virtual fitting through titliest they said AVX was the right ball, however was in a golf shop talking to the sales guy and he said with a 105+ swing speed that the AVX is too soft of a ball for me. I have played the left dash one round (best round ever) but was given a sleeve by a buddy so could be an outlier as only lasted a round and half. Anyone have any advice?

Devices like trackman and GCQuad are very accurate.   Considerations are:

    • The device isnt setup properly.  There are specific settings and distances that are necessary to get accurate results
    • people often struggle to swing indoors….i am assuming indoors since you are using RCT balls.
    •  Your ground conditions on the course could be extremely different that the ground settings on the trackman.
    • ideally you should look at carry distance since actual ground conditions are hard to mimic (wet, dry, firm, Lon grass, short grass, elevation changes, etc.)
    • all balls have different aerodynamics and unless they see the full ball flight (outdoors) there will be some calculations.

The specific settings? Any thing I should be looking at?  The trackman rep came in and said we had the right distances to screen, hitting spot etc.

  5. Curious to know how the spin affects trackman distances. I have a steep AoA which creates a lot of backspin and am using the RCT balls. I struggle to hit the driver 210 or more on the TM but on course (using Arccos) I am usually a 250ish yard drive. Is there some setting I am missing with the trackman or does it over penalize for the high spin rates? This is also consistent across all clubs, usually have to hit a club or 2 clubs stronger for TM distances vs what I would real life.

Steep doesn’t tell us much. Are you 3 degrees steep or 10 degrees steep? Are you out to in and steep or in to out and steep?   Low face increases spin.   Was the spin in italic; if so that means it was calculated and not measured.

Outside in, which I’m working on with one of those speed gates. I’d say more to the 7-8 degrees steep. The ball just just flies high even with 7.5 loft

Do you have the swing numbers from the trackman?  Would be interesting to see the actual AoA, loft at impact, where you are striking the ball, etc.   a DTL and face on video of your swing would also help those who could provide swing advice,   really need to identify why the swing is so steep to be able to give you recommendations on what to change.

I do not have all of them, I just remember the 7k and AoA was steep. If I have time I can go hit again and try to get them

7000 is insane. Truly, that's more than done wedges.

Being steep will be part, but where were you making contact? Heel and low strikes also cause a jump in spin. As well as a cutting across the Ball.

Best thing truly would be a lesson. I'm sure there are YouTube videos to help and get you at least started.

Usually lower in the face is where the impact mark is.

  8. So I have a 110+ mph swing speed but my attack angle is very steep and I put roughly 7000 RPM backspin with a driver. (I know that sounds crazy the guy at Dicks had me try both their TrackMan swing bays because he thought the first one was broken). He estimated I’m losing 30-50 yards due to the height and lack of roll.

So my question is what have you all tried and succeeded with to flatten out the driver swing.
