  1. As long as the price point is comparable to other sets...yes.
  2. My current driver cover is the Tazmanian Devil. Once I pull that cover, the Devil is on the loose! My other cover, on my 3-wood, is a flamingo. My wife won't let me put one in the yard so I put one in my golf bag instead.
  3. I believe that $300 is my personal price point for a putter. Fitting fee built into the price? Cake. I'll take a $300 putter in that case. I see guys with Cameron putters that couldn't hit their ass with either hand using it and I've seen guys with Powerbuilt putters knocking them in. Is it the putter or the golfer? Another question for another day...
  4. Love the Mexican references. Daviddvm and I are ready for a battle Royale. We’ll be coming off the top rope and bringing the virtual trophy home…Stylin’ and Profilin’!! Wooo!! Woo, Woo, Wooooo!
  5. Could you please put the address here or in an email? Thanks in advance.
  6. Date 03/23/2024 Course Name Baja Country Club Gross Score 86 Course Handicap 16 Gross Strokes over/under par 16 Net Score to Par 0 Net Score 70 Net Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 0 SIM Round A tale of two 9s this week. First 9, two pars. Second 9, 6 pars. A bit windy as rain was getting ready to move in. In fact, as I was in the 19th hole, the skies opened up. Great timing on my part. I’ll have to email you the scorecard. I emailed the scorecard to contact@mygolfspy.com
  7. Generally speaking, it is one that I do not worry about. I set up for a draw. The only time left is in play is when my back tightens up, usually later in the round, and I don't get the lag I need and I rotate into a hook. I over cook the shot and away it goes. There is no amount of forgiveness that is bringing that back. That said, the Qi10 makes the game better for me. I usually play for bogey golf. I try to keep the doubles and triples off the card while mixing in the occasional par. The Qi10 has helped me bag more birdies since I've gotten it. I'm using a more lofted club on my second shot which helps me hold the green better. Holding the green means two putting for par or sinking the approach putt for birdie. I wasn't looking to love this club at first. But I can't argue with the overall performance. When my R15 came out, it was the most technically advanced for the time. Advances happen and the Qi10 beats my R15 hands down. With the extra distance I'm seeing to hitting more fairways, I'd be hurting myself if I didn't switch it out.
  8. Golf's dress code is something that is on each particular course. They must evaluate changes in style, what the golf industry is pushing as far as fashion, and where they stand on them. Personally, I'm not a fan of the hoodie. That said, some people look at me and my outfits as being garish and "not professional". I say that as long as the course allows it, so be it. Either play it or don't. That's your choice as a consumer.
  9. One area that I have neglected to mention with the Qi10 is forgiveness. I've mentioned the Twist Face Tech but not what I'm seeing on the course. With a larger sample size (rounds played) I notice that off-center hits are drifting more online and into play. I've hit some shots left and right that not even Twist Face Tech could save, lol. That said, when I do miss the mark, but my club face is on the right line, the ball seems like it auto-corrects. That's the forgiveness at work. My fairways hit are up almost 20% due to the forgiveness of this club. Not an insignificant number. That has translated into more par looks and I've even made birdie on a couple of holes that I have never birdied before. Compared to my R15, this Qi10 is in a wholly different realm. The leap in technology is evident. The use of the new materials, Twist Face Technology, forgiveness built in, carbon fiber makes for a package that simply works. I can't argue with the results that I'm seeing. The more I use the club, the more enamored I am with it. I have reached a point where I'm definitely going to keep this in the bag.
  10. The shaping is similar to the R15 in that it is from right to left. As far as differences visually, the R15 looks “clunky” compared to the Qi10. The Qi10 looks fast just standing still.
  11. My shot of the day is actually a series of shots taken at Bajamar Golf Course. The holes along the water are beautiful. In fact, we saw a whale breaching just off the shore. What a sight! Also, when the desert blooms in spring after the rains. The colors begin to pop!
  12. OK guys/gals - Today I'm gonna throw some data your way. Over the course of several rounds now, the Qi10 has increased my fairways hit percentage. Overall, I'm up over 18% more fairways hit. My dispersion is much better with the Qi10 vs my R15. Again, I attribute that to the Twist Face Technology doing it's thing. Overall, I would rate this TaylorMade Qi10 a 10 out of 10. My on center strikes were things of beauty. Long, mid-low flight, and like bullets. My off-center hits still went a good ways but didn't carry as far. Still, they were in the respectable range. My best was a shot of 223 carry with a swing speed of 95 mph. Like I said, I'd rate this club a 10 out of 10.
  13. Date 03/14/2024 Course Name Baja Country Club Gross Score 90 Course Handicap 16 Gross Strokes over/under par 18 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 74 Net Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 0 SIM Round?
  14. Today, I want to take a minute and talk about the aesthetics of the new TaylorMade Qi10. i'd rate the aesthetics a 10 out of 10. They scored a winner with the design. From the up close look to the look at address, this driver is great. There are no contrasting color changes except on the crown with the TaylorMade logo in white on the crown as an alignment aide. The face blends in with the black surround with almost no discernible edge. Compared to my R15, the Qi10 looks like something that came off the mother ship. It has a totally modern look to it. TaylorMade uses the term "sleek". I totally agree. The 60X Carbon Twist Face is deep which blends in with the crown and sole of the club. The blue and white accents on the face only add to the overall look. As far as using the club, to me, it has a very even sound across the face. There is a crisp 'Thwack!" even on mishits. My R15 lets me know immediately when I don't hit the button, particularly with the ball flight being more off line than with the Qi10. The Qi10 definitely raises my confidence the more I use it. I see the dispersion being better than with my old R15. The head cover lets everyone know that there's a TaylorMade in the bag. It gets attention from the other golfers at the club. When I park my pushcart near the 19th hole and I'm having a cold one, I see people checking the club out, noticing that I've got new tech. Overall, based on what I've seen, If I saw this club vs others, I'd give it a much closer look and even give it a try in a hitting bay. I'd suggest that you don't overlook this club.
  15. The TaylorMade Qi10 (Standard) did much better than expected after a rainy day in Ensenada, Mexico. 3-3-24's initial outing on the course proved this driver is one great performer. TaylorMade says that "It's a model of consistency and balance, delivering a blend of distance and forgiveness that fits a wide range of players. CG placement is optimal, launch conditions are ideal, and the overall performance is everything you could ask for." All I know is that I hit 27% more fairways than with my R15. The distance numbers are somewhat misleading in that the fairways were soaked and there was virtually no runout so it was pretty much carry distance. My distance number was an average of 238. For me 11 yards, that is what I would consider, a significant improvement. My usual distance is 227 with dry fairways. I can only imagine what the gain would be once the fairways dry out a bit. TayloraMade's description of the face, "Utilizing the third generation of 60X Carbon Twist Face, the Qi10 Max delivers a fast face on center strikes while preserving ball speed on mis-hits. The redesigned ledge optimizes energy transfer at impact." My misses to the right were not as penal. I stayed out of the olive trees that line the holes on the course and I didn't launch any OB. I attribute that to the Twist Face Technology that comes into play on mishits. It was a very good first date. I'm looking forward to seeing how it continues to perform once the fairways get firmer.
  16. Initial impression of the Qi10 Driver (Standard) - Wow! This is one sleek looking club. TaylorMade describes it as "An Infinity Carbon Crown covers 97% of the total crown area, creating a strategic advantage for mass redistribution and enhanced forgiveness. At address, it delivers a sleek and clean view that pairs with subtle alignment cues, setting the stage for confidence and success." I say that the dark crown with the TaylorMade logo makes alignment easy. I have never hit as many drives on the button as with this driver. My first 10 shots with it were all crisp strikes. Compared to my R15, the contrast is night and day. Hands down, the Qi10 for me, was easier to hit.
  17. Single length clubs by anyone. Greatest thing since the 14-way divider top. IMHO
  18. My initial outing with my Qi10 Standard Driver (3/3/24) was a feeling out session. I used my athlete's foot spray and got to work. The first shot grouping was very tight (for me), mostly near the sweet spot. The ball flight was perfect for my conditions, 10-15 mph winds, usually. The ball penetrated the wind better than my R15. It may have to do with the low launch shaft I had installed for the Qi10. My launch monitor numbers were very encouraging. 89 Swing speed, 130 ball speed, and a 211 carry. Definitely up from my R15. On one of my off-center hits, I still had good carry distance. I attribute that to the Twist Face technology doing its thing.
  19. My go to brand is...Under Armour. They have good quality fabric that wears like iron. Their pants are stylish and I like the colored versions. Bold
  20. Well, I got my box home and got it opened. When I saw the driver in the box, I felt like a 14 year-old Arthur pulling Excalibur from the stone. Like I mentioned in my bio, I have never had any new tech in my hands. It has always been a couple of years old and used. I was impressed with the packing as it arrived safe and intact. Once I unwrapped the driver from its packaging, the headcover was next. What a cover it is. It is clean in its design and with a simple Qi10 as an identifier. After these two items came out, there was the build sheet. One that the customer would get when they purchase one. It has all the specs. Here are views of the driver head. Since I have the Standard version, I didn’t get all the adjustable bells and whistles. It will adjust for loft, higher and lower than the factory setting. Note on the top of the driver, just a simple logo as an alignment aid. The other point is that the face is pristine and virgin. I plan on changing that tomorrow with a trip to the range and to the course. I’ll pull numbers from my launch monitor for you all as well as a description of how it performed on the course on its initial outing.
  21. Just when I was asking about Cobra and their OL clubs, along comes Sub 70 to fill the void. Awesome.
