  1. I'm with you. A blade guy from the start, back in the 80's when all the rich kids were getting Ping Eye2's.

Years later, I got a chance to hit some of those sexy beasts... and hated them - like you said, everything went over my left shoulder.

So, that love affair ended quickly.

I also play a set of 690's. Went back to them after playing 712's for quite a while. I love the 690's, just something about that pre-worn leading edge...

Glad it's not in my head like my wife says it is!

  2. Fun. I agree 100%, eyeing a set of 690's right now. I guess what I was looking for is if anyone else had similar issues going from minimal offset to a large amount. I guess I would be personal preference. And personally I don't like feeling like I'm aiming way to the left with my club head.

  3. I think the Masters being at the same venue every year has a leg up on the rest of the Majors. It is a beautiful course and has the History of the games great players. It has an allure to it, the par 3 contest, the ceremonial first tee shots. The length, layout. It's a timeless golf course.

The US Open... Should be replaced by The Players Championship.

I'm with sixcat on The Open, golf played as it's meant to be with a minimal amount of trees, by the sea with a ton of bunkers and tall grass. Something about links golf...

PGA Championship should be played at the same course.

  4. I started out with my old Wilson blades that were butter knives, then I got some new DCI oversized clubs back in 99-00 time frame. They had massive amounts of offset, and I felt like I would hit the ball so far left I inadvertently opened the club face to sit square and I pushed every single one of those shots to the right. At what point does a game improvement feature become a game hindering feature? In one of my last posts I said I was looking at the cobra MB's, which are as close to butter knives that I can afford, not paying Miura prices.

I game the TM RocketBladez Tour right now (that will be for sale very shortly) and even the "minimal" offset is too much for my liking.

Anyone else disgusted with large amounts offset? Hurt or help your game?

  5. My home course doesn't have a range. So I usually hit one or 2 full wedges from the rough by the tee box. But before that I take 4 full speed swings with every club in the bag. Start in the parking lot with the 60°, work my way up to driver and then take an additional 4 with the club I'm using on the first hole. First hole is a 9 iron for front pin and 8 iron for back pin. Requires a cut to get the ball to stop on the correct tier. It's a weird green. Everything goes left.

  6. I am in need of Tiger's same back surgery. It is debilitating pain when it acts up. Almost makes me baby my swing on purpose. I can relate to the pain part 100%, you never know when it is going to show up, and when it does, you literally stay horizontal like he said. He had an amazing run, changed the game for every golfer in the universe and for that I thank him. Done or not, he is the reason golf isn't dead.

Edit: I couldn't imagine being a professional athlete in any sport with back problems. Once its injured it never goes away.

  7. I was looking back over the past 3 years at opening day at my home course, looks like the average was April 19th... so I guess I have to wait to test out my favorite shots this year...... Depressing.

  8. Jealous. Enjoy the fitting, the whole Edel lineup has me intrigued. Really liking the looks of that Brick. Wedges with the grooves out to the edge... wish the big box companies would take note.

  9. I'm saying the one you set up for execute properly and say "damn that's nice" after you strike the ball.

Right to left or left to right gives you that "time to buzz the tower" feeling.

  10. I prefer the high fade shot shape in 6-LW, and Driver. Draw everything else.

Like to hit low bullet cuts just for fun. You know the ones that make your partner say "FORE... oh never mind"

  11. Draw or Fade? High or Low?

As a kid I always had a very reliable fade and I hated the ball flight, so over the years I have worked in a straight to draw shot shape... Now I'm wishing I wouldn't have messed with that swing. I can still hit my fade, but not like 15 years ago.

So anyways what is your favorite shot shape and why?

  12. I wear adidas spikeless currently, they are like wearing street shoes comfort but offer little in the traction control department. I am looking at the UA Tips. Old meets new, with added traction.
