Coffee and water for morning rounds. Gatorade or an electrolyte powder in water on hot days. If I'm drinking beer usually Coors Light, Miller, or Labatt. Only liquor on the super cold rounds.

I base my tee choice on handicap, I look up the course handicap in GHIN and play the furthest back tees that don't raise my cap, or only raise it a stroke or two.

Based on the name, you can guess, but I die it into the hole. A putt hit too hard will spin out, a dying putt will slip in. I know no one likes leaving a birdie short, but it's still a 2-putt and one a little short is easier to make than one runs past a few feet. And I don't agree with this 'exactly 18 inches past' Dave Pelz crap.

Don't sleep on Ohio golf we have lots of courses designed by the best architects of all time (Ross, Fazio, RTJ, Nicklaus) and some of the top rated munis in the country. Also, our most expensive courses top out at around $75, which is incredibly cheap compared to a lot of the country.

I just bought 2 dozen of them. I got an email offer for the same price on Super Bowl weekend. I hope they are comparable to the prior MTB X.

My 50* is only full shots up to 130 yards. My 54* is 90-110, and I use it out of greenside bunkers. Everything else inside 100 is my 58*. Though if I'm playing a bump & run, it's a 7 iron.

Layout is more important than conditions as that is what adds to the challenge and fun for me. The course I called home was a little below average for a few years as they've worked on improvements, but it was far more challenging than the other local courses.
Pace of play is the next most important thing as I don't care how nice a course is if it consistently takes 5 hours to pla, I'm going to avoid it.

Well after getting another email flyer I pulled the trigger on 2 dozen Snell MTB Prime X. Even with shipping and tax it's $25/dozen. I really liked the pervious MTB-X, so the hope is that this is a very similar ball. Don't know if it will unseat my gamer, but still looking forward to it.

Lol their caddy feature is busted. I played 6100 yard course and it never recommended driver once. Not on par 5s I could reach in two (hit two 5i), the 2 400+ yard par 4s...tee of with a hybrid. dumb AF

I always stick to one putter, but I never get rid of an old putter. So my current putter is a SeeMore Costa del Mar X2. It's a blade, and I picked it up at the local Play it Again. As soon as I put my hands on the putter, the change was immediate as I felt a total change to my setup. It went into my bag the night before a tournament (on a course I'd never played before) and it hasn't left since.
My previous putter was an Odyssey Versa #7 (like the jailbird, without the bar across the back). It's still in the garage if I ever lose focus with the SeeMore.

Keep that handicap going lower - at 5.4 lowest ever was 2.7
Break 80/finish in the money in a tournament
Play more for fun

I have Vokey 50-08, 54-10, and 58-04. The 50 and 54 are a bit older, but you can pry them from my cold dead hands.
I've been playing the 58-04 for a long time, I buy a new one every couple years as it's the most used club in my bag. It's also the reason I have Vokey. So go back to 2006ish, and I was told I need high bounce wedges after I had a pro look at my short game. So I bought some Cleveland's and boy did my chipping go to crap. So after that season, I checked out all the OEMs and decided I was going to buy whatever was the lowest bounce 56 or 58 wedge on the market. Winner was Vokey and the rest is history.

@chisag I agree with you, I don't get it.
I use the think box/play box idea and stick to a routine. 20 seconds is more than enough time to figure out the shot and clear the mind.
Shoot the target with the rangefinder, pull a club, one practice swing, get my line, set up and fire.

I have my first set of irons from when I started golfing - MacGregor Muirfields, my dad's old persimmon MacGregor driver, and a Bullseye putter. My plan is to build a display cabinet for this set at some point.
Otherwise, I never get rid of a putter, but everything else finds its way to eBay.

Maybe 1 per round, it depends on the course. Though I have those few rounds a year where I can't control the driver and 3-5 disappear.

I am sticking with the Srixon Z-Star. I tested different ones a year or two ago, and nothing performs better all across my game for the price. But I have a few notes too.
-My 2nd favorite ball right now is the TP5, it's just a bit more expensive than the Srixon
-The Snell MTB-X/Prime is on my radar due to price, but I don't know enough about them to order 5 dozen

…is there an asterisk next to Tom Brady’s name, or do we all just see him as a 7 time Super Bowl champ.
Huge asterisk next to his name in the NFL, will never be the Goat. Not a Michigan fan but what he did in college was fine.
We know for a fact New England cheated to win the Rams, Panthers, and Eagles Super Bowls.
Deflate-gate, more cheating, was 2014 against Seattle, so his first four rings don't count.
I can't find anything suspect in the wins over Atlanta and Los Angeles. When he went to Tampa, the refs penalized the crap out of KC in that bowl.
But Belicheck was found to still be recording other teams practices in 2019, so he never stopped. Zero NFL legacy for either.

Definitely true, MGS has done some old vs new driver comparisons and you definitely notice performance differences. I viewed the question probably a bit more; maybe too, literally. Carbon Fiber has been used in drivers for much longer than 10 years and isn't obsolete. Every year "technology" advances and products get better; but as your pro told you the differences may not be noticed.
Right that was his point - that year to year those differences are minisucle, but over a few years they add up and then you notice the difference.

... I watch every LPGA tournament but rarely watch the PGA other than the Majors. I am interested in seeing golf played, not a driver/wedge/putting contest. The LPGA provides shots with every club in the bag with plenty of fairway woods and hybrids, every iron in-between as well as excellent short games. Interesting to see Brook Henderson chipping from just off the green with a hybrid and getting it to tap in range. Or Lydia having a difficult pitch after flying over the green, coming up short and then holing the chip for par. They also smile a lot, unlike many of the men that evidently think scowling makes them a "serious" competitor and I honestly can't remember the last time I saw an LPGA member throw a club or break a shaft over her knee.
Agree with that - actual golf instead of reducing every course to 3 or 4 clubs. Other than a small handful of guys, there's not much personality on the PGA anymore.

Anymore I much prefer to watch the LPGA than the PGA. Outside of the big 5-7 tournaments on the PGA I really find most of the events boring. It's also easier to realte to the game the women play. Also, I have two daughters now, and I want to encourage them to pick up the game (the 4 y/o will putt with me a little bit).

Wife and I worked it out that I get one day a week to go. I try to get very early tee times on Sun so I'm back home as soon as possible. 5+ hours on a weekend afternoon doesn't work.

Thoughts on buying one year old clubs?
in Golf Clubs

This is the way.
Nothing wrong with buying previous years models, or used clubs in general. This game is expensive enough, save yourself hundreds of dollars by buying one year old equipment. New is new, a driver isn't going to expire sitting on the shelf.
