  1. Welcome...from central Ma...played Butter Brook last year for the first time. Really really enjoyed it. Real nice track!!!!!
  2. First day of Spring.....First day out........18 holes in Connecticut

  3. Good poll. I am not as aggravated with marginal slow play, as much as some of other players. When it gets to the point of ridiculous then my BP goes up a tad. One thing I have notice is that at times golf etiquette is taking a beating. Slow players letting faster groups play through seems to be a lost concept. I notice that at my home course, and also when I play other tracks. That gets under my skin. On the other hand the prima donna concept bothers me too. That is when slower play is caused by a persons ability. And people complain about them, and treat the lesser player like a second class golfer. That's wrong!!!! They have paid their membership fee or green fees like anyone else. They deserve as much right out there as a scratch player. If you don't think so, then you have a problem. Enjoy the upcoming season for all you Spy guys and gals from the North. Also, to all you folks from the warmer climes, hope you are enjoying your season and YES, I am jealous!!!
  4. Ready golf for some, is when ever they are ready.
  5. 1.. Been playing for about 50 years/ 11-12 handicap 2. Just love the game, itself. Competition and camaderie. 3. Enjoy the back and forth conversations. Some very interesting reading. 4. Dudly Ma. Dudley Hill Golf Course and Raceway Golf Course in Ct. Melody Hill in R.I. 5. Variety of different courses. WINTER !!!!!!! 6. Groundskeeper at local Insurance Company. 7. I didn't, my mother did.
  6. Cold here in Southern Massachusetts. Got around 4 inches the other day. Been pretty cold winter compared to last year. But very little snowfall. Hope it doesn't repeat last year with two major snowstorms in March. Getting itchy.
  7. Sorry, to all you fitness guys...I'm 61 years old, actively work out side, am not overweight. Have stopped smoking for about 6 months now. So, for me its RIDE BABY RIDE!!!!!!
  8. Tsunami on its way to Massachusetts. Played yesterday, pretty pedestrian round, nothing great, nothing awful Played with my freshman in high school nephew and 2 of his friends. All 3 are 1st year players on their High School's Golf Team. God, I didn't realize that 15 year olds were so long.
  9. Well, last night was Twi-Light League. We had a 3.5 point lead going into last night. We were playing the 2nd place, which happens to be my son and his partner. We beat them 9.5 - 8.5, was a little bittersweet, but just a little. So, now we have a 4.5 point lead with 2 weeks to play. if the past is any barometer, things still can change pretty fast.
  10. Didn't play this weekend. Was inundated with rain. Watched 2 days of the PGA. Sunday was a very enjoyable watch. Actually won a round of golf for 2 at Wintonbury Hills in Connecticut. About an hour from me. $80 a round on the weekend. I picked Koebka at 15 under, and won. So that made for a decent rainy weekend.
  11. This weekend was my Course,s Member/Guest. The format was 6 team flights every team plays each other. It's 9 hole match play, you get 1 point if you win a hole, 1/2 point for halves. Maximum 7 points per match. So, it's 45 holes in 3 days. The rub of it was, We played 9 Friday, 18 Saturday, 18 Sunday. Friday went without a glitch. Saturday forecast was rain. Well, we started Saturday and the rain came. We played on, then it poured, we played on. Well, it got worse, lightening flashed , winds blew, the horn blew. Come to find out a tornado touched down a mile from the golf course. So, now the forecast for Sunday was sunny, hot and humid. After some debate and a general consensus, it was decided that we would finish the existing matches and combine the rest of Saturday with the scheduled Sunday matches.. So, we were playing 31 holes on Sunday. Going into the final 9 hole match, my partner (and best friend) and I were tied for first. We lost are last match 5 1/2 to 3 1/2. We finished 2 points behind the winners. After being physically wiped, we sat down while the Pro Shop was finishing the scoring. They approached us, and said we were tied for second. Ok, that's great. Not so great, we had to go out and play a sudden death play off. Since there was prize money involved for 1st and 2nd. We played and lost the 1st hole. I hate losing, but it was a great weekend despite the grueling Sunday. I am now sitting at work, thinking I may recover by Wednesday, wait I have 9 hole twi-light league tonight.
  12. Playing reasonably well. Had my highest high and lowest low in a long long time. Playing in a match, 1 stroke up going to the last. Par 5, drive down the middle, 220 to the pin. Hit a 5 wood, yes folks, a 5 wood for this 61 year old, not a 5 iron. Flushed it. Rolled past the hole and left me a 7 footer for eagle, and cement the match. That was the high. Hit the eagle putt, thought it was in, started walking, 360'ed the cup, spun out and rolled 2 feet from the hole. No biggie, deep[ breaths, make the putt and still have a nice birdie. My opponents just sunk their birdie putt. Make mine and win the match. Feel great, no sweat, go through the routine like always, one look, two looks, tap and watch it. I made it. Nope, hits the inside edge and spins out. Stood in total dis-belief, silence, want to do about 100 nasty things. Re-gain my composure, look at my partner and best friend. He shrugs. Shake hands and walk off a little stunned. That was the low. Oh well, I guess that's golf, still hit 2 good shots, been playing well and not going to let 2 lip outs ruin that.
  13. I've been a Bridgestone guy for about 6 years....was an e-6 guy until they came out with e-6 soft and e-6 speed. I played the soft first then the speed. I actually like the speed better. After about 5 holes the soft seemed to lose some life. I don't find that with the speed. Just me, maybe but as one Pro golfer once said I used to think golf was 90% in your head, I got better when I found out I was wrong, it's 100% in your head.
  14. Weather finally broke...played 4 times in the past week.....started out like a house on fire.....then the flames started fizzling out a little...Monday night league starts tonight....hope for a little re-kindling of the fire....so does my partner......
  15. RickP...I envy you...you being a former New Englander, you know my tale of woe. Have not played in over a month.....it is now April and Mother Nature has not cooperated. Between snow, rain, lots of wind and cold, my next window for golf looks like maybe, Wednesday of next week. I had the itch, scratched the itch, now am just waiting to get rid of the itch. Happy golfing to you and enjoy the weather!!!!!
  16. Just a pic of me, struggling through Bethpage Black.
  17. For a not too expensive ball , I use the Bridgestone E6 speed. It's probably in my head, but I really have a "comfort " zone feeling with them. That's all that counts for me.
  18. When I heard the news..it brought back great memories...I never owned Lynx but my best friend did. Lynx,Hogan and Macgregors, were the clubs of choice at our club in the 70's. I was a copper faced Macgregor Tourney guy. But now reading this post, I am a little leery what Lynx is up to. Not passing judgement yet, but will follow with interest.
  19. I like the Bridgestone Speed......play the old E-6's for about 3years...then bought a dozen Speed's and a dozen Soft's......I like the Speed's....going on year two.....
  20. Nonchalant putts count as much as chalant putts
