I pulled the trigger on one. I'll share my findings after I get it and test it out.
Also going to have a call with SP and their main guy with Newton shafts to get some more info to share with all.

Saw the ad for Newton golf shafts this week during the Hero PGA event. The technology is intriguing - especially how they categorize their shaft flexes. I didn't see a lot of shaft spec info, including shaft weight. Your thoughts?

    Guilty.

Welcome to the Forum. @IndyBonzo is a fellow north-sider who enjoys playing - I think his main track is River Glen 🤔

I live in Plainfield (west of the airport). Heartland Crossing, Southern Dunes, Westchase, & Twin Bridges are good courses nearby me. I joined The Legends (Franklin) - a bit of a drive but I couldn't pass-up $400 for 2 years!
    Cheers!

My Strategy gives your tee shot width dispersion with every club. This is used to determine your aim line to avoid hazards (or possibly sand/trees) which is the main benefit. Showing whether you can carry something or not is a smaller benefit especially since it shows total not carry distance. It also adds expected strokes to finish based on whether you are in sand,, rough, fairway, etc. which can be a helpful reference.
Having this mapped out in advance makes it easier to follow a planned strategy vs getting punched in the mouth and deciding you need to play aggressive for birdie after a double. Using less mental energy on this aspect allows you more mental energy for other strategic decisions (like approach shots) where the starting point and ideal target (relative to pin location) isn't know in advance. Checking the mapping as part of your pre-shot routine can help regain focus and find a target on your intended line. Especially on blind tee shots going uphill or around dog legs, that maybe you can't see on the tee...

Green mapping is of even less benefit. The only help is knowing which side of the green is uphill or downhill as you're not going to be playing to specific quadrants of greens from 150 out. Your approach strategy is primarily driven by avoiding greenside sand/hazards, followed by short siding avoidance. Green mapping would really only benefit a small green with no hazards around it and a pin in the middle of the green to give you an idea of which side would leave a uphill chip on a missed GIR to favor. All of this assumes the green has areas of severe slopes that pose an actual challenge which is not always the case.

This seasonal VCT has motivated me to not 'check out' mentally with the first awry shot - a previous habit of mine. It's also made my think my way around a course instead of taking a bomb & gouge approach. So, thank you to MGS & all of the participants!!
It was a good season. Began with a handicap of 16.9 and wrapped it up with an index of 11.9 😀  Driving was fairly consistent & my miss (fade) was predictable. Approaches & short game improved through the season. Sadly, I thought my strength was putting but that failed me most (not all) rounds this year.

I'm not a sim golfer, so this is "adios" until April 2024. For those that get to play, hit it long & roll it in. I told the new Mrs this was the first year I was going to just keep playing what I have, so if you see me at PGATSS trying putters, mum is the word! 🤐

Played in a shotgun-start 'open' event, sponsored by a local Facebook golfing group I'm a part of, so got the chance to play a bit of a bucket-list course I've heard great things about.  Rumor has it that Travis Mathew (either the company or the man himself) is one of the owners - who knows?
What I can say is that playing from the white tees was a GREAT choice for a course we'd never played before - I got to pair up with the forum's own @Syks7 (man can that guy roll the rock) - and we played with two other awesome guys (one of whom rolled in four birdies - super impressive).  The white tees made the course MUCH more accessible and straight-up fun.  It's situated up in the hills, so a ton of the holes have these INSANE views of the surrounding valley.  Truly beautiful. Add in the natural birdie (net eagle) on our final hole of the day (Hole #2 in reality), and it was a perfect ending to an awesome day.
I played OK - better than anticipated, and after having had a few weeks off, a pleasant surprise all things considered.  Putted ok - certainly better than my last (NINE three-putts, lol) - misread a bunch of putts, but that's not a huge shock considering it's a first-time play of the course.  Greens were lightning, but true, which made for a really great experience.
Attached are some shots from the day!

(View from the practice range.  Absurdly pretty.)

Getting the work in (or checking your phone - however you get ready for a round - I don't judge (too harshly) )

Getting ready to tee off on 1

(The green is just right of the two bunkers you see - about 50 yards below you.  Tempting to take driver and give it a whack, but everything runs away to the left, so best to hit 3-iron (driving iron for me) and give yourself 100 yards in. Crazy cool first hole.)

(3rd fairway (that's my drive about 90 yards out) - our first hole, uphill tee shot - managed to hit a good drive (not great, but ended up well positioned) and set myself up for an easy par.)

(One of our playing partners teeing off on the 4th - downhill par 3 with a hell of a view)

(View of the clubhouse from the 10th tee)

Another crazy elevated tee (our tee box was actually behind and above where I stopped to take this).  Managed to mash a drive (into a nasty headwind) between the two sets of bunkers - settled for another par)

(Syks7 in a tough spot - lots of carry with a steep lip - got out, which was all that mattered 🙂 )

(Legit one of the most beautiful par 5's I've ever played.  Undulating, not terribly long, incredible views - really a pleasure to play.  Birdied this one.)

(17 green - blind uphill tee shot from behind the hill, then downhill to a green with a NASTY front pin placement)

View from the top of the 18 Fairway - tee box is all the way down the hill (where those three small trees are in a row).  Hit a gem of a tee shot to the top of the hill and couldn't believe the view when I got up here.  This is backwards, towards the tee box...

(And this was in front of us, the tee surrounded by rocks and a pond.  Just a stunning finishing hole. (Par here, too!))
Alright, that's all I've got for you 🙂 If you're ever given the chance, highly recommend checking this course out - a gem, and despite fast greens and some (in all honesty) cruel pin positions, a pretty getable course.  Especially from the whites 😉

Was really looking forward to the round, because I just received my new custom-fitted wedges (PW, GW, SW, LW) and wanted to start getting familiar with them.
The big stick was very well-behaved, which was quite surprising, and I hit 11 of 14 fairways. Wedges were generally on fire (I felt comfortable enough to fire at every single pin position today), and I had legit birdie looks on 4 holes today (only managed to convert 1 though). There are 3 strokes that I genuinely wasted on the green today, so today could have been even lower.
But I'm very happy overall - driver was putting me in play on every hole (except one) and I just couldn't convert, so I'll blame the process of getting used to new clubs.
Looking forward to the next round!

Started poorly (I was cold, waited out a frost delay), with five straights 5s (5 over), but then birdied three out of the next four, and almost went four for four, just underread a 7 footer. Considering the start I made, finishing +7 for a net +1 for my first round in almost two weeks, I'm happy!

Played 9 today and used what My Strategy taught me was best based on letting it adjust for my dispersion.  I learned that my 3H pattern is slightly right with more right dispersion than I thought, my 4H is dead straight and tight for dispersion, 4W is slightly left but dispersion is tight, and my driver tends slightly right of target and the dispersion was larger than I thought.  On two par 4 holes where I usually hit driver, I hit 4 wood on one and a 3H on another. On a par 4 hole I normally hit 3H, I hit 4H.  These changes were based on what My Strategy showed for strokes gained and dispersion. I hit the short grass on all holes except #9 where I missed a little…right…in the rough with my driver, but managed to par it.  My Strategy changed my tee club on 3 holes, target point on 3 others, and helped me better define my tendencies (thought my 3H was a tad left, 4W more left, and worried too much about a D pull left).  I swung it better than usual (+1 for 9 holes), but I do believe it helped greatly.

Based off the specific club. As an example, I used a Sub70 799 7i for 3 rounds in 2022 (I also have the 8i which I never used) and its dispersion and distance stats were available on MyStrategy. What I learned is that, although at the time I thought that I wasn't hitting it that well, its dispersion pattern was much tighter than that of my G710 7i, making it a better choice for the third hole (a 130 yard Par-3) on my home course.

Do you have a club selected? Try deselecting the club and see if you can't move the blue dot anywhere you want, and multiple times.

Since it will show plotted shots on a course/hole I've never played, it has to be shots for that club over the last 'x' number of shots or rounds.

"My strategy" brings Shot Scope a step closer to challenging Arcoss's "Caddie" for navigating new courses. Yet, two key distinctions exist: Arcoss is automatic, accounting for environmental effects, while Shot Scope offers a cost-free alternative.

Hopefully, they will continue to improve this feature but for now I’ll pass.

Is the dispersion of the shots based on the club for all shots or just the shots recorded on that particular hole.
It would be useful to have both options

Something that I have found very interesting on MyStrategy is the ability to add a plot of my shots to the dispersion cone, which I find helpful not only for deciding aiming point, but in some cases that one club may be better than another due to the actual dispersion of shots.
