  1. I have to admit, I’m rethinking the top end of my bag a bit. I’m trying to commit to one shape off the tee, a fade, and just clubbing down to 3 wood if I have to draw it. But I’m not using my 3 wood off the fairway at all. My bag is currently driver, 15 degree 3 wood, 3 hybrid, 4 utility. Starting to think maybe I need driver, then 13.5 degree 3 wood or mini driver, 7 wood, 4 utility. Just thinking about it…
  2. I know he was dreadful Friday and Saturday, but he actually shot a 63 on Sunday.
  3. When he was asked ZJ said he didn’t direct him to switch to 3W, just told him that everyone pulling driver was ending up in the rough and struggling to get up and down.
  4. Strokes Gained is hardly a fallacy, and what you’re describing wasn’t how the Americans or Europeans played because it isn’t good strategy. The PGA Tour average drive is 299.8 yards; we’ll call it 300. The average 3-iron distance ranges from 212 - 265, so for arguments sake the midpoint of that range is 239 yards. That’s a 60 yard difference. From 175-200+, the PGA average GIR is 53% with an average proximity to hole of 34 feet. From 125-150, within that 60 yard difference range, the average GIR IS 69% with an average proximity of 23 feet. Winning strategy is not giving up a 16% GIR advantage and signing up to 33% longer putts.
  5. Morning spies. Hoping for a much better viewing experience this morning…
  6. It’s certainly a Euro’s leaderboard early…
  7. Good morning spies! 10 minutes from the first tee time!
  8. Sorry to miss it. Still at the office; this government shutdown threat is kicking my butt…
  9. Foursome pairings are posted. No Spieth/JT in the opening session! Ballsy move by ZJ. (I think I just posted them in reverse order of how they’re going out, FYI)
  10. Yes, big congrats! That’s an awesome podcast!
  11. Another really interesting dynamic about this Ryder Cup: the mantra is always that the Euros set up the course to make accuracy more important and take away an American advantage in driving distance. However, this year the European team on average is slightly longer than the Americans, and the Americans are slightly more accurate off the tee! We’re less than 20 hours away!!!
  12. Good God i can’t wait for this thing to start. Took Friday off; I’ll be up at 1 am to catch the first tee shot. Really interesting to see Capt Donald elect to play foursomes first. My prediction: we’ll see Spieth/Thomas, Scheffler/Burns, Schauffele/Cantlay, and Clark/Koepka. But then again, that sits Morikawa, Homa, Harman, and Fowler, and you could argue foursomes puts a premium on FIR and GIR. By that measure Spieth and Thomas maybe aren’t ideal based on recent form, but would you really sit a staple USA pairing like that in the first session? Friday can’t get here soon enough!!
  13. Good morning spies. Spent last night at the med center doing a sleep study; being tested for mild sleep apnea. Gee, I can’t imagine why I might have had a hard time sleeping doc…
  14. So, I'll try to keep this update brief. 1) After completing Full Speed Spectrum, I've picked up 2 mph, which puts me at 111 clubhead speed for driver. Not great, and not where I was, but an improvement overall. Next up per the AI recommendation will be another cycle through Full Speed Spectrum. 2) However, I'm going to spend the month of October doing one Cruiser workout a week. I jumped whole hog into the Fit for Golf routine and added sets I maybe shouldn't have, and somewhere along the line I may have strained an abdominal muscle. For whatever reason, my core isn't really every fully recovered going into the next workout. I'm going to have do some rest until it is. 3) The other factor at work is my medical saga has taken a bit of a turn...my blood work came back with low white blood cells and heightened markers in other areas, consistent with some forms of cancer. There is also an extensive history of cancer in my family (all four grandparents, my Dad, and my younger sister have passed from some form of it). And, there is a growing lump on the back of my neck. 4) That lump may very well be just a cyst, and outside of the intense fatigue and muscle weakness I've been complaining about I have no other real symptoms...my vital signs all say I'm in excellent shape. In fact, my primary doctor feels I likely just have a mild case of sleep apnea and a muscle strain. But, the lump has to come off and get biopsied. And, I've been dealing with a thyroid issue for 10+ years, and an upcoming ultrasound will reveal if that has to come out too. 5) I'm going to be fine, better than fine, and fast again too. But for now, I've got to deal with a few medical issues, rest, and I'm going to start an anti-inflammatory diet in the hopes of arresting the thyroid issues. Fit for Golf workouts, with appropriate rest, and Cruiser Stack workouts along with an anti-inflammatory diet and copious use of the cold plunge pod are on the menu for October!
  15. How do we get a “hate” or “intensely dislike” reaction added to our list of like options for a post? Asking for a friend…
  16. Coming down to the wire! Great play. Great to see Lexi pouring it on in the final match.
  17. Really excited for you guys and really looking forward to following along. It’s a great product for sure.
  18. Great matches so far especially if you’re a USA fan. Have to say I’m not a fan of the Golf Channel graphics so far. I want a perpetual graphic of the status of each match, but so far they only have the overall score up and only occasionally flash the status of an individual match. Don’t like that.
  19. Don’t want to step on @GolfSpy_APH toes here, but just a reminder that recordings are indeed becoming available via Spotify!
  20. LOVED Arbor Links when I had my chances to get on it. Enjoy!
  21. Good morning spies. Typical morning routine of magic potions (supplements), a Stack workout, and gym time, now followed by 10 minutes in the cold plunge. The cold plunge is kind of new but I’m enjoying it so far. The one thing it does mean is that I’m now a home workout guy so I can get in the plunge pod right after a workout. May need to buy one or two more pieces of home gym gear now…
  22. I gamed the 20XI for a while, but I’m not sure I was the most discerning golfer back then so that’s hardly a good testimonial for Nike balls…
