  1. Continue to hover around 214. Goal would be more like 205. I've been weight lifting again, similar to what I would do in college. So even though I'm only down about 14 pounds, I've definitely put on a good amount of muscle in the past 4 months. Diet could still use some tightening. Calorie wise, I'm usually not too bad, but certainly could eat better in general with less processed food and things like that.
  2. Things are starting to turn. Have not had a lot of opportunity to tee it up here in Indiana. Partly my schedule and partly weather related. This week should be mid 60's for the high and next week gets warmer, but with more May showers as you might expect. Hopefully I can get out more in May. I played a few times in April, but that was only because of a golf outing to Kiawah for work. I did not play one round in April in Indiana sadly. Playing twice for work this week if weather holds out so not off to a bad start.
  3. Glad to hear it's working for you but man, that thing is not a looker lol. But really neither are the new LAB putters and people swear by them. It actually looks more like one of the background hills in the nintendo Mario game to me.
  4. A couple of mine continue from last year. The first is to break par. I've done it before, but it's been a few years now. I shot a couple +1 rounds last year and had opportunities, just need to finish the job. One of my better rounds, I was -2 on 14th hole at True Blue in SC only to Double a tough par 3 and finish at +1. More of not knowing the course as it was my first time playing there. Next, I would love to have a couple tournament rounds or something with more pressure through the year. I think my game will elevate that much more if I can find ways to triumph when pressure is at it's highest. Scratch would be nice. I got to a 1.7 towards the end of the year last year, but it was a long winter and I have definitely back tracked a bit after the first 5 rounds I've played this year.
  5. Tried to basically get out of my head for the range session yesterday. I did not want to be too technical, but mostly find my tempo and pick small targets to ensure I'm putting the ball on my intended line. I did have a bit of a mental cue with a specific place on the ball I wanted to hit (ie Adam Young/Chasing Scratch's hammer the nail). It seemed to assist with flush contact. Another thing I tried to picture was the not only the dimple a bit more on the inside of the ball, but also a bit under the equator of the ball on my tee shots. As a player who struggles with a positive AoA, I was kicking myself that I hadn't tried this before. It worked wonders for my ball flight and I didn't have to overthink anything swing related to accomplish it. Last, I worked the "Tiger Gate Drill" with my putter. Last time out I suffered some very yippy strokes when there was a bit of pressure. Trying to hone in my stroke so it's more second nature. Hoping something can work for me.
  6. Was short on time, but got out to the range on Wednesday. Mostly to try and get my swing under control. Thinking back to my rounds last week, it was mostly a slice with driver, but irons had a bit of a two way miss going. I just need more reps and try to hone my tempo back to where it was at the end of the year. Hopefully I can get 3/4 range sessions before I have another outing and possibly play a casual round. I think my swing is still ok, but just need to get my confidence back up and know where my tendencies will be.
  7. Was fortunate to go on a customer golf trip last week to Kiawah and played 4 times. Game left a bit to be desired since it was my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds of the season, but we truly had perfect weather and great company. We started with Cougar Point, then played the Ocean Course, Osprey, and finished with the Ocean course on day 3. My pitching and chipping were the stars all 3 days and kept my scores lower than they probably should have been. Cougar Point - Nice layout, good round to get us started. A bit tighter driving holes on this course than the others. Drove the ball well most of the day. Approach and putting not stellar. 80 with 3 bogeys, 3 doubles and 1 birdie. Ocean Course - This course can bring some high scores quick. I think the lure of the moment got to me a bit. Overall I think the course is actually playable and scoreable. 39 on the front with a double. 44 on the back with 4 doubles. Driving was atrocious and I was not sure where the ball was going half the time. Two way miss is not fun on this course. 5 double bogeys. Ended up with an 83. Osprey Point - Really liked this layout as well. Different from the other two and some nice holes. Driving was a little bit better. At least keeping more on the face of the earth this time. Went 38/40 for a 78. Ocean Course - Putting completely left me this day. Actually put a decent round together, but the yips were back. Scaring me for what's to come this season. A good amount of greens in regulation, but not many actual birdie chances since I was about 30 feet away on most holes. I did not track putts, but would not be surprised if I had 8 three putts. Greens were not that fast or undulating, so it was just poor efforts. Pitched and chipped the ball great and actually chipped in on 18 for a birdie from just off the right side. Ended with another 83, but felt a little better this day. Only 3 doubles this day. Hopefully I am able to go back one day. Definitely a cool place to play especially after last year's PGA Championship. I'll have to start planning the outing for next year now. Not sure where it'll take me.
  8. I liked the Nike 270G, but they were a bit narrow for me. Also, there are only a few pairs that do spikeless with enough grip and those were not one of them. My feet were sliding all over the place if any trace of moisture.
  9. Very excited for the next few days. Going to Kiawah Island resort to stay a few nights and play 4 rounds of golf (2 at the Ocean Course, Osprey Point and Cougar Point). Have not had any chance to play or practice in the past month so I'm pretty nervous about my game. The weather should be great from what I've seen. Well will see how I do.
  10. Going to watch this one a little bit closer this year. I will be going back to Sea Pines in June, but this time will play Harbour Town. Only downfall is they punch the greens about 12 days before I play it - hopefully that's enough time to recover. I've played several other HHI courses over the last few years we've gone and really enjoy Carolina/Georgia type golf. Looking forward to it.
  11. This is what happens with too many threads open at once. Supposed to be posted in another section. Workouts and weight lifting going well. HA.
  12. I just hit the Cobra LTDX LS for the first time over lunch today. It was following a workout, so needless to say the swing was not feeling dialed. Kind of dumb on my part as I do not feel like I got much out of it. However, I can say that the feedback is nice on the club. Very easy to tell where I hit on the face. Also, spin stayed at great numbers. One outlier that was too low and one that was too high, but everything else was great. Will have to keep this on my list for ones to try. Next, just a takeaway, but MGS is spot on about hitting with quality golf balls during a fitting. The first half of my session was with the Maxfli rocks that Golf Galaxy had available and I could not get my ball speed over 160. I stumbled across a couple TP5X and used those for the remainder. My ball speed did not fall below 166 from then on and I had a couple hit 172. Just crazy how big of a discrepancy it was.

  14. I'm there in April too and playing the Ocean Course twice. I'm doing only Kiawah Resort courses. Osprey is one of the other rounds and Cougar Point. From everything I've read and looked at. Osprey is a great one too. I know there are a few other threads about Charleston specifically. If you can get on to the Cassique course - I've heard wonderful things.
  15. I've hit both the TSI3 and TSI2. I already had a Mavrik SZ that I hit well so it was more for the fun of trying new clubs. I found the TSI3 to be a bit longer with less spin and a lower ball flight. Dispersion was pretty good with both, but I'd probably give a slight nod to TSI2. Honestly, they were exactly as advertised. I really enjoyed the TSI3 drivers and have contemplated adding one to replace. At this point in the product cycle, I think I'm going to wait for the new driver to come out later this year. If I hit that one similar to TSI3, I may pick that up at discount. It just depends if I continue to drive it like I am now, I am not in a rush to change what is working fairly well.
  16. I enjoyed Oyster Reef in Hilton Head quite a bit. Also Atlantic Dunes, but it's a tad more pricey. I was not a huge fan of Palmetto Dunes (RTJ course), but it was still nice. I have heard really good things about the Arthur Hills course at Palmetto Dunes as well. I played Crescent Pointe a couple years ago because it was a very good value. It was nice for the price I paid, but not memorable. Pretty good conditions, but there is much better in the area I think. I've heard wonderful things about Old South and i'm hoping to play that while I'm down there in June. I played True Blue in December 2021 and it was a treat. Cool layout and great condition minus a few bunkers that were lacking sand. I caught up with a group of locals that play both courses often and they said they much prefer True Blue to Caledonia for what it's worth because of the issue you mentioned. Myrtle Beach National had some fun holes and I enjoyed it. Dunes and Tidewater are on my list as well, but I have not played them yet.
  17. I was able to meet with a customer and play in San Antonio yesterday. Here's a couple takeaways. Ball Striking = Lackluster Putting = Getting better, green reading needs improvement Chipping = Needs Improvement Driving = EH, not center contact but fairly straight and long enough Last thing was that we weren't keeping score on the card, but through the round. I just remember not being very happy with how I was playing. However looking back, I was a couple over for the 9 holes that could easily have been even. I think it was because I was scooting my ball around rather than actually hitting solid quality shots for several of them. Obviously, I hope I can get it back to normal and make better contact, but there are a lot of different ways to score in golf.
  18. I need to make this same purchase. I keep eyeing them. I might be most impressed with the T200 4 iron over the whole Titleist iron testing.
  19. A bit of an update. I have been lifting about 4/5 days per week and staying on a good routine. Probably need to switch it up a bit to be honest. Weight isn't dropping that quickly, but I can notice the change in physique, which is much more important. Played basketball this morning and back to weights and a little cardio tomorrow.
  20. I was able to get out for 9 holes yesterday. Unseasonably warm weather here in Central Indiana and a lot of the Midwest/Northeast. I played in shorts and a polo! Well, things went about as expected or maybe just a bit worse. Driver did not cooperate early, but did get a little better as the round went on. I was not able to judge the heavy winds so I did not have that many GIR (4). Short game left a good amount to be desired. Also, ball striking was a bit below what I'm used to. Overall, still extremely glad to be out on the course this time of year. Especially when I think back to last year at this time, I was 3 weeks post achilles surgery and wasn't able to consider playing golf until early May. 40 (1 birdie, 1 double, 3 bogeys) FIR - 4/7 (2/5 with driver) GIR - 4 Putts - 17
  21. I went to a Callaway Rep fitting at my local course. They recently installed Full Swing golf Simulators so we were able to use those. I compared directly against my Mavrik SZ and I have to say I was let down by the results. I'm not sure what I expected to be honest. I should be happy that I have a great driver that fits me well currently. I was swinging the driver well, so my launch characteristics were good with my current and the new drivers. I noticed about 2mph more average ball speed with the Rogue ST Max LS, but carry, total yardage, and spin were all the same, if not a little better with my gamer. My longest drives were with my current driver. If I'm thinking back, maybe mis-hits had some discrepancy, but nothing that I would take away and think I need to spend that type of money on this driver. I think there are a lot of good drivers out this year and I just enjoy trying the new equipment so I'll likely try some of the others, but I think MGS has it right when they say you won't find major differences in driver for 3-5 years.
  22. I saw there was a link for more data, but when I clicked it came up as not found. I wonder if that's what they were after?
  23. I think you might see those score higher when they release the updated results for best driver by swing speed. As a rule, more mid to higher handicaps usually have lower swing speed and will slice the ball more often. Just saying this as the larger rule, definitely a lot of guys who don't do that in those categories.
  24. Going to be a really fun golf year. On top of the above at Kiawah, I'm taking a buddies trip to Arcadia Bluffs in mid May this year. Hoping, we can luck out with a few nice days at that time of year.
