  1. Can't wait to hear the feedback on looks at address. Have fun boys!!!
  2. Used to live in Rochester for 30 years. Went to high school in Fairport and moved out to Arizona. Miss some restaurants and a few relatives but the ability to Golf here year round was a decent trade off. Interested in your review. Ping factory is just miles from my house and I have been there many times!

It’s such an interesting trip and the staff did a wonderful job showing us around.  I’m glad to hear you’re happy where you landed.  Golf season is close up here and I can not wait.

  3. Was this the only 10k driver you hit? Heard the Ping G430 is a great product as well. Not sure about the lower launch for my game but love the lower spin characteristic. Time to do a fitting and see what the results show!
  4. No but it sounds like you need something with some toe hang to assist in closing the face. Friend games one and loves it. He put a ding in it and ordered a new one so now he has a back up. Good luck!
  5. Submit for tickets every year even for practice rounds and have not been lucky enough to get drawn. Would play for sure. Played Pebble and got shivers when playing 6, 7, and 8 as well as finishing on 18. Would love to walk the hallowed grounds and just take in the beauty while playing.
  6. Logo is underwhelming at best. When Tiger releases something you expect a wow factor. Logo looks like it was taken from a high school art contest and the 15 lines for his majors just didn't work. Not sure what the material is like but I'll stick with Johnnie O and other fresh new brands until I can get a deal on one to try out.
  7. Drawback of getting to play 200+ rounds a year is that I wear out wedges and don't have the resources of Jordan Spieth and the boys to continually swap them out. Yearly golf budget only stretches so far before the boss gives me grief!!! Vokey fan for many years. Classic shape and now so many options for different swings and conditions. Firm believer in you get what you pay for.
  8. For a tournament I always start with a new ball and use it until it is damaged to the point it will impact flight or I lose it. Can usually get 3-5 rounds out of a ball if I'm playing decent. If I'm playing with buddies at my home course and I find a nice Pro V1 that wasn't in the drink the day before I will save it and put it in play before breaking out another new ball. Love the buy 3 get one free usually in April.
  9. Toooo stiff for me. What a cool concept!!! Happy Holidays to all!
  10. Truth is, most golfers even down into the single digits can't carry a stock wedge shot the same yardage shot after shot. If you can get it to within 5 yards you are better than 95% of the general golfing public. Go to a place where you can hit your irons and check carry, spin, and launch angle and you will have a baseline when going to the course. Very few professionals or very good amateurs take full settings at wedges so they can control flight and spin. They hit them much lower than you think. Good luck!
  11. Sun Mountain C130 coming from a Ping Hoofer. Loved the Ping but due to knee replacements have been riding. Can't beat the C130. Will buy again when I wear this one out or want a color change. Pockets are nice but club dividers are great. No club jams and easy to locate your desired iron or wood.
  12. Congrats! Very excited to hear the reviews on these beauty's!
  13. Had to wait until I retired and play about 250 rounds a year for the last 3 years. Had an albatross before but it does not seem to hold up to a hole in one in the golf circles. Got mine in April and it was a decent shot but I have hit many better that did not go out. Just took a nice kick in the correct direction. Convinced that it takes a great deal of luck. On the other hand, a friend of mine has 8. @#$%$
  14. Some people drive Buicks and assume drive Mercedes. I volunteered at the NCAA tournament at Grayhawk and when I was in the landing area on #11, the long par 5, I checked and only 7 balls were not Titlest out of the 84 players that came through. Different strokes for different folks but that was pretty telling to me. Not everyone needs to hit them but for quality, Titlest is tough to beat.
  15. Depends on what club you are interested in, most fairway woods and drivers have adjustable heads that can manipulate both loft and lie. Just purchased a Titleist 3 wood and it comes with a chart with each desired characteristic so you can modify to your liking. I play a G425 driver and it has a movable weight in back that can be set for draw or fade bias. Irons are a different story. A fitter should use contact tape on the bottom of club to assist with proper lie. This will assist with desired ball flight.
  16. Blind draw best ball, gross/net par 3's, 4's, and 5's. Four man waltz depending on how many players. 1 ball counts, then 2, then 3, then all per team. One solo, one of the other three for a 2 person per team score with the solo player rotating each hole.
  17. Always have to hit a few. I see the shot shadow for the day and then just put club on ball. Try to sync the body. A short iron, mid iron, fairway wood, then driver. 20 balls does the trick. No putts as this is usually my strength.
  18. My vote is lessons first. With your handicap, you should not need super game improvement irons. Get a few tips and drills to work on and then get fit. Most fitters don't try and change your swing in the bay. Some guys can read data but not analyze a swing. Shaft selection in my opinion is huge. A lot of manufacturers make the same type of irons. Hollow body players distance irons for example: Taylor made p790, Ping i525, PXG, etc. Find something that fits the eye and then whittle down your shaft selection by ball flight, spin numbers, carry, decent angle blah blah blah. Don't rule out lesser advertised irons like Srixon, you might be surprised. Enjoy the process!!!
  19. Seems like a general theme. 2 putters in last 15+ years. Went from an Odessey 2 ball to my current Ping Bergen Vault I was fitted for in Phoenix. Would love to get a real fitting like the one I watched from Edel himself on a video. Showed how head shape and sight lines alter your aim. Just not sure if there is a true fitting guru close by. I think we all have ups and downs but if I ensure my setup and grip are consistent things work themselves out. Confidence is huge for me and I think it would take some time to break in a new gamer.
  20. Usually multiple rounds with the same ball. Just had my first hole in one and I am almost embarrassed at how the ball looks in its display case. Almost. After 58 years of trying I was finally blessed and am off the snide.
  21. I own 5 pairs of Footjoy icons and 2 pairs of Footjoy Tour Dryjoys. Looking to join the latest century as my playing partners say I am nuts due to the weight etc. Play about 200+ rounds a year in AZ so I am worried about durability. Saw Code chaos received decent reviews. Looking for stability with comfort.
