Hello everyone! This is my first review for My Golf Spy and I would like to thank MLA and My Golf Spy for the amazing opportunity!
I will start by telling you a little bit about myself and my golfing journey. I am currently playing off of a 14.5 handicap and I have been playing golf since I was about 4 years old (9 years ago). I think my strengths are driving and chipping/pitching and the weakest part of my game is relatively my mid-long irons. This putter will be competing against my current putter (TaylorMade White Smoke MC-72) for the spot in my bag.
Why do I love the game? (I have asked myself this question going around the course many times). I love golf as it is a game of extreme precision and skill. It is painfully hard and frustrating but that only makes it feel better when you play it well. It is also a great way to de-stress after a week at school.
I got into the game at a young age with a set of plastic clubs as long as I could remember. I got my first “actual†set of junior clubs at 4 years old. My dad is a golf professional/instructor so I have had free lessons as well! I played golf on and off from then until the age of 11. I then grew out of my junior set and got a set of my dad's old clubs. I had for been practicing for about 2 years and upgrading my bag to the point it feels like my own. I joined up at a golf course in my area a couple of months ago and I have been watching my handicap get lower (from 33 to 14.5). I am now starting to play a few junior tournaments in my area as well as the club competitions.
My current bag:
Driver: Callaway XR 16 (10* Fujikura Speeder 565 S-flex)
3 wood: Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 815 (16* Fujikura Speeder 665 S-flex)
Hybrid: Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 815 (20* Fujikura Speeder 665 S-flex)
4-EW: Ben Hogan Apex 1997 (Apex shaft S-flex)
52*: Callaway Mack Daddy 2 (12 Bounce)
56*: Cleveland 588 RTX (4 Bounce)
60*: Cleveland CG10 (8 Bounce)
Putter: TaylorMade White Smoke MC-72
Ball: TaylorMade TP5X or Srixon Soft Feel (Depending on the round and the amount of money am prepared to spend!)
Every club in my bag (apart from irons) has been purchased without a “fitting', rather my dad and I trying different things until I find something I like. The irons have been handed down to me by my dad. If I find something I like it is hard to get it out of my hands.
I live and play golf in Australia. My short game is generally pretty good with a few bad moments. My putting is the same. I am confident in 2 putting, or better, 95% of the time.
So that i my golfing journey so far. Stay tuned for the next stages that I will be posting in the next few weeks.
