  1. I guess the Chrome Tour X is pretty good around Augusta or maybe it's just Xander? Or maybe it's Maybelline. Played a round at an Executive course today since I got rained out yesterday AND last Friday. Needed some work with my irons and wedges and being a range rat isn't my thing. Figured I would keep playing the Chrome Tour since I have a whole sleeve left and the ball performed really great, yet again. I should probably get a portable LM to check the spin numbers (if portable LMs are good at measuring spin) because as the lower-spinning option from the CTx, it sure does get in the air. At my last fitting, my fitter said I wasn't hitting the ball as high because of spin, so we built my irons to offer me more spin via more loft and a mid launch/spin profile shaft. I was hitting ProV1s so maybe I don't need as much long/midgame spin in a ball as I thought.

Time, temp, and at what internal temp do you pull it to rest? Killer smoke ring brother
  3. I'm not playing enough to warrant buying yet another pair of golf shoes but these are fire:
  4. My game went straight in the toilet since my son was born in 2021. One "hi daddy" when he comes home from grandma's house makes me forget all about how much I suck now. I took a 10-ish year break from golf and came back better than I was in high school -- I can do it again. I probably won't have to wait until he's 10 to start being a golf degenerate again, but even if I did, I know it'll be worth it. Watching them grow and learn is fascinating. Congrats dude, and I hope you are caught up on your sleep.
  5. Love this show. Not really a sci Fi person but I love comedies and it has enough in it to make me forget about the whole alien thing. Recently watched (Netflix): The gentlemen: really enjoyed it Warrior: interesting kung-fu show set in western times. Kinda fell off in the last season but the first two were bangers
  6. I'm such a LAB ho I'll probably get one some day. If the 2.1 came out looking like this, I probably wouldn't own a Link.1
  7. Ok a bit overdue sorry, just wanted to make sure I could get enough rounds in to have enough of an opinion on these balls The Review 4/7/24 Callaway Chrome Tour/X White Box – Official MGS Forum Review by Yungkory First Impressions (10 out of 10) I haven't played a Callaway ball for years, but it's what I expected and have seen from them in the past, though this time it had Triple Track which I've never played. The name has changed this year and it seems the characteristics are marketed different from previous years. Both balls are marketed to be firmer than the previous-generation "chrome soft" -- which was the tour ball. Now, the Chrome Soft no longer carries a "tour" designation so it seems to me like it would be less performance-based. Aesthetics (10 out of 10) The balls look everything like a premium golf ball should, and every bit like your standard Callaway ball. Shiny cover, chevron marking, and in the version we were sent -- Triple Track (TT). I've never gamed a ball with TT before, and in practice it seems to help. I don't have any data to back it up, but you would want to do something like that for a whole season and not a couple of months like this forum review. Initially, I thought the durability was subpar, after my first 2 rounds with them. What I thought was an inferior cover, I now believe to just be that the paint rubs off. Maybe I just notice it more since I was seeing the Triple Track rub off, and the ball I game obviously doesn't have that? Anyways, I thought the covers were junk at first but they actually hold up well when you're not hitting stuff you shouldn't. I wanted to take a picture of my most-recently used ball, but on its 34th hole it met a watery demise: everytime.mp4 The sound for me is pretty similar across both balls, but the feel is easier to notice. The Chrome Tour feels great off of every club, the X is a bit more harsh feeling. Drive is unsurprisingly the easiest one to tell the difference between. The regular Tour almost feels borderline marshmallow-y and those who don't like that, will probably hate the ball -- it really reminds me of the Chrome Soft of yesteryear, ProV1, Z-Star, (insert your favorite soft-feeling urethane tour ball). Personally, I love that feeling because it makes me think I'm compressing the ball more and getting more out of it. The Numbers (15 out of 20) I really thought the X was going to "fit" me and I would like it, based on the marketing. In real life, it couldn't be further from the truth. I don't know if it's because the ball is designed to spin more, or if it's something between my ears, but it seems like this will accentuate any side-spin imparted by your face angle. I've struggled in multiple rounds to keep the X in play. Could just be me, even though I hardly ever move the ball left to right (I've been up to 8* in to out on QC4). Maybe that's a good thing, I got to see the right sides of the courses I play vs. normally being on the left . I've had much more success with the non-X in my rounds. I believe others found more ball speed with the X, but I was hitting the regular CT the furthest in all of the 6 rounds I played with these. It reminds me very much of the ProV1: feels great, goes far, flatter flight on longer clubs. The only difference is it seems to have more spin coming into greens, especially on full shots. Typically, I get more one-hop-stop from my gamer, and the ProV1s that I have played, but I've found that I can get some sauce on the CT. This was a 7i from 165 that spun back on me a few feet (yea, I missed the bird): The CT definitely performed better and the score would've been higher if the X wasn't involved in the test. On The Course (15 out of 20) If you don't want to read the details, here's a TL;DR: The CT was a really good ball for me, the CTX wasn't. Off the tee the balls perform well. The CT launched a little higher for me but never climbed much higher after that. The CTX launched a little lower for me but would spin up. Since Hawaii generally has sun every day, the fairways I play are often dry and get tons of roll if you don't have a high angle of decent. I believe this is why I saw longer drives with the CT than the CTX, but both balls seemed to be longer than my Z-Star Diamond. I hit some absolute BANGERS with the CT. Strangely, I got more spin from the CT than the X though the marketing would suggest the opposite should've happened. I don't normally pull the ball back or "have it on a string" but found the CT was very capable of doing so. Again, hop-and-stop performance from the X, from any distance into the green. Missing greens is my forte, so I got a lot of chipping in with these balls. Neither of them were difficult to execute shots with, they kinda just do what you ask of them. Bump and runs, check-y pitches, etc. as long as you execute the shot, the balls will react accordingly. Off of my Link.1 the CT and CTX feel very similar and I don't think the characteristics of either would cause me to miss or make a putt. The Good, the bad, the inbetween (15 out of 20) I enjoy testing golf balls. Thankful that we have the forum to be able to have a chance to do it without having to fork over the cash. Testing the CT really made me happy. I can't exactly tell you why, maybe just because I hit some really nice shots with it, or because it feels the way I want the ball to feel off the face of each club? It's a really good ball and I intend on re-visiting it after I work through these 3 dozen Z-star Diamonds. Play it or Trade it? (15 out of 20) I would game the CT. The X just isn't it for me. It's the Indian and not the arrow, but the arrow makes the Indian more crooked. I think when the next 4-for-3 box comes around, I'll scoop some up. Though by that time, the next CT will likely drop. Conclusion I'm pretty low spin in the long game, thought the CTX would be the ball for me. It wasn't. The CT spins just enough for me to be able to game it, the X spins so much I can't tame it. Final Score (80 out of 100)
  8. I haven't tested as much as I should have by now, but after 2 rounds I think the cover itself is as good as any ball, but I did notice the paint coming off. It could be that I'm just not used to using the alignment lines on other balls, but I was using the triple track this weekend after finding it might actually help me. Noticed some of the paint coming off mid-round. They're definitely worth buying and testing -- not a Cut ball incident where one wedge is going to shred it
  9. Interesting, I've been playing the diamond since it came out and I think it's closer to the regular CT to me. So far the spinniest ball I've played is the Tour B XS. No chance I can hit one into the wind without it just spinning up into oblivion it's pretty comical honestly
  10. Ok so ~19mph yesterday and today was pretty much the same even though the forecast might not say -- it was windy again. Yesterday playing the CT, I noticed the ball felt "heavy" in the wind and it didn't really care much about any crosswinds. Just kinda went and stayed there. Started playing the CTx today and it felt completely the opposite, so much so that I switched back to the CT on the back 9 because I felt like the x was just getting pushed so much more. The CT also seems longer off the tee. My tee shots were pretty much the only thing I had going for me today (not the best ball striking day, it was rough) and honestly the CT feels like they're juiced. It launches pretty mid-high and seems to just move forward forever. I mentioned previously that I like more spin in the long game because I'm pretty low-spin, but I think the CT might spin enough. Hard to tell because my ball striking was horrible. I also read the marketing data on the balls finally, and on paper, I would assume the X would work better for me. I am pretty familiar with the previous generation CS and CSx and that lead to me being more biased towards the X fitting, but I think the regular CT is likely to be best for me. Going to test some more, these were my first 2 rounds in over a month. Oh, forgot to mention, the covers or the paint are kinda fragile. Didn't hit a single organic or non-organic obstacle today, and the covers were in worse shape than I would have expected. I think the Z-star Diamond cover is more durable but again, more testing needed.
  11. I played today and playing again tomorrow. Played the CT today, and I'll play the X tomorrow. 19mph today with gusts up to 38, 13-16 tomorrow with slightly weaker gusts. Needless to say, pretty windy this weekend. Going to type up my thoughts after tomorrow's round
  12. Alright, sorry I'm so late to the party. Took a trip earlier this month, got sick when I came back, and then the weather had been pretty crap for Hawaii standards. Anyways, I've finally started my testing. Took a sleeve of each to the practice green today for some MUCH needed short game work. I haven't read any other member reviews yet, or any of the marketing, but I'm generally familiar with the Chrome Soft family so I have a bit of an idea what each ball is going to do. Haven't had a chance to practice putting with my Link since getting it, so thanks Callaway and MGS for the motivation. I started chipping from a variety of lies: fluffy, tight, buried and a couple of different "scenarios" utilizing different cups on the green. Practiced being semi-short sided, having room to work with to let the ball roll, green running away from me, hitting shots with my 54, and 58* when called for. To preface, I'm no chef Woozy. I got down to a 7.5 when I was playing often, but I promise it wouldn't have been as hard as it was, if I could chip and putt. It's nice that all of the balls we were sent were triple-track, it makes it really hard to tell them apart and keeps the "blind" test aspect going on each shot. I first practiced blindly not knowing which ball was which, paying attention only to the results when I would retrieve them. I thought this would be a better way to tell if the ball was "for" me if it just worked well while my brain was off. When I started paying attention, I found the x to spin a touch more, checking up quicker. Not that the non-x doesn't spin, but when you nip the x off a tight lie, it'll stop quick if that's what you're into. Personally, I prefer the x when chipping, and when my brain was "off" I was getting closer, more often, with the x. Back to triple track, I'd never tried one previously and figured now would be a great time to do so. I know it has nothing to do with the actual test but I will say that it does seem to help me with aiming, more so than the regular single line does. I found that I tend to aim a bit right of where I intend to when not using it -- might have to test it during a few rounds to see if it helps on average. Looks kinda nice eh? Practiced from a variety of ranges and some lag putting until I was joined by an older uncle, so I went back to 10-footers. I feel a very very slight difference when putting, mostly when I was hitting lag putts. The non-x feels a little softer and ... dense? The x is a little clickier/hollow feeling. Practicing from 10' trying to make 6/6 before I left for the day. Before the last attempt I like to break out of my setup and realign. I feel like it puts a little more pressure on me and it forces me to go through the process instead of being pre-setup and just trying to repeat the same stroke 6 times. You can't tell from the angle but it likely would've went in if it didn't bounce off of one of the other 5 balls in the cup I could've stayed and got a better video where I look like I regularly go 6/6 but that's not authentic and also it was frickin hot and I needed to get in the AC.
  13. I mentioned it in my first/intro post but I'm hoping for a little additional spin in the long/mid game. I also received my white box today. I won't flood the page with the box pics (it looks exactly the same with the green dot). What's interesting to me, having participated in white box testings previously, is that in the past we aren't always made aware of the model. So many questions in my head now, where before I was only thinking if they were going to be urethane or not. Are these this year's CT/X? Are there already Protos of future ones just a few weeks after they hit retail? Did Xander give me sleeves from his stash (most likely to be the case). Super stoked to try these out!
  14. Thanks for another opportunity to test some new stuff, mod squad! For those who don't know me, my name is Kory and I'm blessed to call Hawaii my home. I joined MGS forums back in 2017 and have been fortunate to do a few tests now, so if you want to know a lot more about me, you can look those up. Since there are so many other lucky members chosen to test alongside me, I'll keep this short and sweet. HDCP: I got down to a 7.7 when I was playing regularly. Same story as most folks, my son was born 2 years ago and a lot of my time shifted from being a mediocre golfer, to trying to be the best father I can. Strengths of my game: I had a decent CHS of 108mph when I was in 'golf shape' but now that I'm not playing at least 9 holes weekly, I've dipped down to the 103-105mph range the last time I was on a GCQuad a few months back. So, I was able to move the ball a good ways, and on the courses that I play it becomes a strength since they're all in the 6400-6700y range generally. I still get it out there on occasion so I would still count this as a strength. Weaknesses: Short game. No chef Woozy over here that's for sure. What I look for in a ball: Plain and simple, I require extra long game spin. I don't apply much of it with my club delivery, so I need a ball that spins more off driver down to 6i. I absolutely love testing golf balls simply due to the fact that I can see the difference with my eyes. Last season I went through the ProV1/x, Tour B X/XS, and Z-star Diamond. The ProV1 and Tour B X were both amazing balls (made my first ace with a BX) but after getting a season's worth of experience with them, I found they're not the best fit for my game. I settled on the Z-star Diamond because it performs the best for me, in more areas of my game. I'm excited to see what Callaway has in store for us, but most of all, I just want to brag about playing golf outside in shorts in February
  15. It was definitely working for us all year but in the NFC championship I'm trying that FG. @rkj427 hit it on the screws, we need to bolster up our secondary and pass rush. Also we need better face masks on our helmets. Ones that don't deflect the ball to be catchable by our opponents
  16. Dan Campbell: I love you and hate you at the same time. Yes, going for it on 4th down had worked for us a bunch this season. However this was the damn NFC championship homie. Kick the FG and we were driving to tie the game, or maybe even go for 2 and win. Instead, we were driving for the chance at a near-impossible onside kick. Josh Reynolds: I don't hate you, but I hate your hands today. Maybe it's because I'm not used to seeing my team win in the playoffs, but I felt like this was a once in a lifetime chance to make it to the Super Bowl. Our team is pretty good, and young, but IMO without one of those crazy playmaking franchise quarterbacks, and a killer defense, you're just doomed for mediocrity. It's so hard to win in the NFL. Devastated but at the same time thrilled that my squad won a playoff game in my adult life, and even added a 2nd! I hope we can be in the mix for a few more years. Finally, I would like to end this by saying F*CK THAT STUPID CATCH OFF VILDOR'S FACEMASK BRO THAT SH*T ONLY HAPPENS TO THE LIONS I AM UPSET.
  17. I'm not a medical professional and don't have any experience with epilepsy sorry. You'd have a hard time convincing me that medical cannabis isn't legit for any kind of neuro/muscular condition: This was the video I saw years back that convinced me to try it for non-recreational purposes lol. This was suggested to me after I finally found the Parkinson's video:
  18. Excited to see what they've done with the new X and XS, and to try them!
  19. For the first time in my life, my football team has won a playoff game. I don't even know how to feel right now. Just relieved that I get to rest my poop chute for a week. I was in full puckered mode the whole game, especially the 4th quarter. Lions up baby!!!
  20. Show me independent scientific studies that state mining creates as much, or more pollution, than me driving an EV and charging it using the solar panels on my roof. Then, maybe I'll believe it. Further, Europe is banning new ICE vehicles aren't they? Whenever I'm skeptical about something, I like to look abroad. The Mirai has been out since 2014 I believe. On Oahu there are exactly 3 hydrogen stations compared to the 100s of EV stations. Toyota went all in on hydrogen spending millions lobbying against EVs, only to give up and make their own, which was recalled because the wheels were falling off. Yeah, the part of the car that they all share in common. Elon is a huge boner, but there's no denying his company changed the vehicle landscape forever.
  21. Weather tomorrow should be a little better. I live 5 minutes from Waialae and it's raining right now at 8:30pm. Might be a little wet in the AM rounds, still going to be a bit windy. The weekend looks to be typical weather though!
  22. All of the new drivers look sick, might have to book a fitting next month when Truespec gets them all Also, the new Tour B balls
  23. I'd jump on this if it were 10.5* @dlow206 did something similar a few years back and let me try the Motore he was selected to test. The one with the sick MGS logo on it! It didn't work out so I sent it back to him when I had him re-shaft my wedges. Stuff like this is what makes this community such a solid place to participate. One of the few places on the Internet that I don't hate visiting, lol.
