  1. I absolutely despise Royal Hawaiian, and you'll have no issue getting a tee time because no one ever plays there lol. Play Koolina or Kapolei, imo
  2. DM me when you get here and we'll see. Just had a baby in October so I'm not playing much, but could possibly get out to play. @mr.hicksta is coming in July as well so maybe it'll lineup and we can all get out for a round
  3. I can help if you still need testers. Gonna put the new driver and z-star diamond into play, and planned on giving feedback on them regardless
  4. If you want it to keep the inside cool, you can control it via phone app. Ioniq is coming 7/2 now and we confirmed with the sales manager that it's ours. Now I have time to get my charger installed in the garage. Ordered a Juicebox 40A from Costco, $550 but of course it's $100 shipping to Hawaii. Still less than MSRP on their website. For anyone else looking for a home EVSE, check to see if your electric company has any rebates. Mine had one on the Juicebox but it was still more expensive than Costco, YMMV!
  5. Just got a call from one of the Sales Supervisors, someone ahead of us in line ended up buying another allocation (someone rejected) so we're taking theirs because it's exactly what we wanted (pending test drive). Now I gotta go get pre-approval for a loan and figure out how much they're going to value my trade-in and whether or not I want to take that or sell it privately. Hopefully they offer me close to the upper end of the KBB value so I can just be done with this whole fiasco until the Q4 is ready in a year.
  6. Haha, yeah when I had my friend's Model Y for a weekend, starting it up was always a trip. You just sit down and press the brake and the car is on -- very strange and I don't know if I'll ever get used to that. The Mach E was on my short list of considered EVs, until they stopped taking orders entirely for the next year due to demand. Probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger for shallow aesthetic reasons that I won't mention on here because opinions are like a-holes, and I don't want to offend anyone who has one/wants one. The nice thing is that more and more companies are committing to BEVs so soon there will be something for even the pickiest jerk like me!
  7. Yeah, I'm just not a fan of the typical EV style which seems to be mixtures of tail lights spanning the entire rear, uber-futuristic designs, full-face wheels (I get it, you don't need to cool your brakes now that most of them have regenerative braking), randomly painting body panels a different color. The main thing for me is that they're all essentially being powered by the same thing now: 1-2 electric motors. There's no more boxer rumbles, loud V8s, inline 6cyl with turbos, superchargers, etc. Just a soulless little electric motor or two I think it gets worse before it gets better, and with gas price always rising exponentially faster than it drops, you might want to reconsider purchasing now that you are investing in more panels. Plus, auto loans are lower than inflation rates, borrowing the money is almost "free"
  8. Yeah.... I can't do the new gen BMWs with that grille, LOL. The iX1 is being announced today, but I don't think it's making it stateside. From the leaks, it looks like they heard the community and the kidney grille loyalists and reverted the pig/beaver face.
  9. Bought a box of these with a GC that I had. If I like it, might stock up if they ever have a 2-for-3 sale or something
  10. I feel you on the mid-life crisis front, at the ripe old age of 38, I'm low-key sad to be ditching the thought of owning any of the cars on my short list of obtainable "dream" cars. Always wanted an F80 M3 since I've seen them, had my heart set on getting one once the finances lined up, and now that they have, it just doesn't make sense to not own an EV if I can charge for free at home. It's like the end of an era for me, transitioning from a "car guy" to buying cookie-cutter EVs without any real personality, and definitely without any sort of style. All of that said, I live on an island where the speed limit is 45-60 MPH tops, so where the heck am I driving fast, legally, anyways? We're only getting the 40 and 50 in NA I believe, and the one we have on order is a 40 non-sportback, but I'm still debating whether or not I want to change that to a sportback because IMO it looks nicer. Just concerned about the slight loss of cargo height we would lose.

    Cooking

Smoked a pork butt on Sunday for the holiday... And I guess for the rest of the week. Tacos and Sammies at lunch and dinner for the foreseeable future haha. Was too tired from cooking/yardwork/baby to go to the market for buns so we ate them with bread. Homemade slaw and homemade bbq sauce for dressings.
  12. I do this when I'm mad lol. Smash the ball into the flagstick to take out my frustrations
  13. I haven't seen it in person like I saw the ID.4 so I never knew. We have a 2016 RAV4 and the dash kinda does the same thing, so it probably won't bother me. How are you liking the Q4 aside from that? Ours can't come any sooner...
  14. When used correctly, brown looks nice This is ain't it: Could've just kept it black throughout and it would've been clean
  15. Yeah to me, the dash and the door panels just clash with the rest of the black interior. The grey is nice tho, but I have a baby and that's not gonna work lol
  16. Yep, I'm familiar with the Hyundai/Genesis being the same family like VW/Audi/Porsche. The Ioniq 5 honestly feels well made inside, I got to sit in one but couldn't drive it because it was sold, but the fit and finish was surprising to me -- guess I had some negative thoughts going into it since I always thought of the brand as an economy car rather than something that could be a little more upscale. I'll have to wait and see how it feels on the road, but first impressions were good. Having to pay for things I consider to be "standard" in a modern car is also very familiar coming from two BMWs. My 3-series couldn't even fold the rear seats because that was an upgrade -- insane! Maybe it's a German car thing? ID.4 was on my short list, but I've read every single review and watched every video on YT by now, and everyone says the infotainment system sucks. The main thing that drove me from the ID.4 to the Q4 was the interior -- not sure who thought the brown dash and door panels was "nice" aesthetically I think it's worth checking out. It has some of the fastest charging in the segment, a decent range, and the price isn't too horrible, especially if there's a no-markup dealership around you. I'm on mobile and I don't quite remember where you live, but DanburyHyundai is selling them at no markup, and they will do the yessahhhh over the phone. They're pumping them out at a decent clip each month as well. I think last month, we got a dozen or so allocated between the two dealerships? You can check local stock on theevfinder.com. GV60 shouldn't be too long. Same platform as the Ioniq, so as long as you're not ordering one with a very personalized spec, you'll probably get it soon
  17. Well, I live here so the appeal of some courses is lost on me. The most well-kept course is probably Koolina so I like playing there. It's a resort so if you've played golf at other resorts then you probably won't be very impressed. If you want something that you're not going to find everywhere else, Royal Hawaiian. The "Jurassic Park" course that everyone posts and talks about. If you can get on base, play Klipper at Kaneohe MCB. Maintained decently, but you won't get those views on the 13th at any other course on Oahu.
  18. I guess Callaway isn't have supply chain issues on Rogue ST, ordered this on Monday and it arrived yesterday! Back on team #matteblack -- love the look at address it's very similar to TSi3. So much that it almost seems like a waste of money (it probably is).
  19. Mediocre caulk game how'd you ever have kids
  20. Forgot to mention the lower cost of maintenance for EVs as well! Very good point. I know someone with one of the first Model S in Hawaii, going on like 8 years now I think, only time he's had to take his car in were the two times it got hit by other drivers. Both times in parking garages because people here don't know how to drive.
  21. Absolutely insane, my car is worth $5k less after 5 years!
  22. That's 0-full charging time though. Most of the newer EV's are charging 20-80% in less than half of that time. Battery science, it takes more energy to get from 80-100% than it does lower than that. If a car's range at 80% capacity fits your daily driving needs, then you would likely never notice the difference coming from a gas car, just plug in when you get home, and (in most models) you can tell your car to stop at 80%. My opinions are obviously skewed because I live in a place that is sunny 99% of the year, and never gets much below 65F year round, but I believe gas cars are on their way out in Hawaii. Just doesn't make sense to not make use of all this sun we get! We got solar in January and I'm producing on average 37 kWh a day, with a high of 53. A Tesla Model 3 Standard has a 50 kWh battery and a 263mi range, so I could basically drive ~194mi a day on the sun's dime if that's real-world range. If you live anywhere where it is cheap to charge (I'm sure you folks aren't paying $.34-.44 per kWh to your electric company like I am), and convenient, EV is a no-brainer. I've wanted a Model Y since they were first introduced, and I'm forever sad that I didn't buy a standard range when they first came out and were selling for $40k. Didn't have the means to charge conveniently at the time, but now that they're almost 50% more expensive, I'm kicking myself for not just figuring out a way to make it work. Put a deposit down on an Audi Q4 e-tron but they have yet to deliver one in the US, you might've seen them in EU? I think they're really nice -- I have an issue with some of these EV styles looking too futuristic or just doing random aesthetic changes just to differentiate that the car is an EV (I'm looking at you, Toyota bz4x https://www.toyota.com/bz4x/2023/ with your random front fenders being black). Also, that's a stupid name. The Q4 we put deposit on likely won't come for another 12 months, unless supply chains magically fix themselves. The stealership told us that we're 83rd in line. That's just in Hawaii, not nationally or anything. So in the interim, I'm just putting deposits (refundable) down on all EVs that I don't absolutely hate (short list). I really didn't like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 when I first saw it, but in person it looks a little better. All of the reviewers rave about it so I'm excited to test drive one. Might luck into one here shortly. If anything, I can probably sell it for a profit when the Q4 finally comes in a year, since the used market is so bonkers right now. That's half of the reason I'm trying to get an EV as soon as possible outside of the obvious gas price insanity, my car is worth nearly what I bought it for 5 years ago. So at worst I get an EV that I don't really care for until the Q4 arrives, then sell this likely for a profit or barely any loss, get the $7500 tax credit while it's still being offered, and save a buttload of money on gas. If I end up liking the Ioniq maybe I'll keep it for myself and wifey can have the Audi.
  23. Played in some pretty gusty conditions today, but when you can only get out once a month cuz you got a baby, you trait what you can get. Outside of 5 doubles for various mistakes, I did okay. Can't hit a fairway to save my life, good thing I have a new driver on the way ha! Shot 85, made some nice putts, lipped out a birdie chip, 3-putt from 7' on 18.
  24. Just FYI, this thread is super old and that post is outdated, lol. Koolau is closed permanently. If you have any questions, feel free to ask
