  1. That sucks! Glad no one was hurt. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  2. For all of you living in year-round golf areas, I offer this to remind you how lucky you are.... Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  3. Great review, Mike! I think I would really enjoy a school like that, but will likely have to wait a few years thanks to a kid in college and another getting ready to go in about 20 months. Sent from my BLN-L24 using Tapatalk
  4. I stayed on top of it this year and as of last Sunday, the yard was spotless and almost all trees had no leaves. Front came through Monday and brought high winds and blew the crap from the street back into my yard. I came home from work Monday to see a mini tornado of leaves swirling around my front yard. Mother nature wins this round, I'm done until spring. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  5. AT&T. I was a manager in Uverse/DirecTV. That group has been bleeding money so they laid off about 10000 a year ago and rumor has it, more coming next year. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  6. We had a mass layoff last year. We were told in October, so we had time to try to find something in the company, but my last day was 12/27. It made the holidays a little less fun, for sure. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  7. Got to play today for probably the last time this year. It was a beautiful day in NE Ohio. 40/45. I had 5 one putts on the front and no doubles or worse. Drove the ball better than I have in a long time and hit my irons much better. Good way to end the season. I had not played in over a month so was very pleased with the results, especially since there was no roll in fairways and greens were pretty shaggy and slow. 8. The guy I play with most often almost fell over trying to putt when he got new progressive lenses. He has to play in old glasses. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  9. While I'm sure getting the run-around is frustrating, I would think it's better safe than sorry. Good luck with the surgery and recovery. My rant: I made a trip to Cincinnati last weekend to look at a car. Internet pictures were not representative at all. Basically told the salesman he was going to have to give me a great deal to get me in the car. They didn't even counter my offer and we're expecting top dollar for an average car. I drove 7 hours Saturday to spend about 30 minutes at the dealership. Oh well, got to spend the day with a friend I don't get to see that often, so that was the upside. 10. I've been out of the loop for a while, but a little over a week ago, the wife and I took a mini vacation to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Played 9 on what is addressed at the oldest course in North America. The wife taxied me around, and I hit balls. Sliced every wood I hit, but my irons are starting to come back after a lesson and couple trips to the range. I can now feel what I'm doing wrong when I do it, but getting better. I made a lot of 6-10 foot putts and still shot 46. I thought I had a pic of a sign near the 8th green that it is still in the same configuration it was in 1875. Must be on the wife's phone. 11. I've never played in an event like that, but for some reason I literally laughed at this post. There have been times I wondered who peed in the greens keepers wheaties, so I can't imagine if they were intentionally putting pins in crazy places. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  12. I played really, really poorly today. 102 (47, 55). Trying to polish a turd, I was crushing my 3w - on one hole I had a sand wedge when everyone else had 6 iron or longer. Chipping was terrible and I burned the edges on way too many 6-12 footers. I could not hit an iron. If I made solid contact, it ended up way left (a few occasions way, way left), not solid shots were fading. How do you pick a target when that happens? Really, I learned two import things today: 1) I love my 3w - I had quite a few in the 270 range off the tee; and 2) I desperately need some lessons. Up until the last month, I was having back problems that apparently hampered my swing more than I knew. Now that I can swing pain free, I have no idea where it's going with irons. I can't say I really understand why I have been pretty solid with 3w and 3h through it all, but I'll take it. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  13. Sounds a lot like my round a couple weeks ago. Every GIR for me was a 3-putt because I left myself looong putts. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  14. I haven't been this happy about a 45 in a while. Two balls in the water on 9 because I'm a moron, and ended up with an 8. To make a long story short, I have been having some back issues for the last 8-9 months. Pain is finally gone and when I was playing last week, my friend commented that my swing was all arms, so today I really focused on getting my body into the action and suddenly the irons were going the distances I'm accustomed to and I hit more GIR than I have in a while (50%). 15. Nice job Kor! I played Sunday and was scrambling around pretty well because everything was very average - not getting off the tee too well, irons only OK. I suppose the highlight was no 3 putts, 17 2-putts and a 1-putt. I was pretty well smoking my hybrid. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app

  17. I shot a very unimpressive 90 this morning. I could not putt - 6(!) 3-putts. I could not control distance at all and it was totally deflating. 5 1-putts, but that's misleading as they were the result of good shots before them. I continue to hit 3w only of the tee with a fair amount of success. Not a ton of fairways hit, but not missing by much. Highlight: I was in a fairway bunker on a par 5. Played safe shot then decided to see what would happen if I tried to hit a hybrid out of it, so I dropped another ball. Very awkward stance (one foot in the bunker, one out, ball about 6" below my feet). I nailed it and ended up about 50 yards short of the green. It really sucked to have to pick that ball up and play the "safe" shot which happened to have a branch hanging in my way. Oh well, at least I now know I can do it if I'm ever in that situation again. 18. Most of mine are more habits - divot tool, one tee, ball market in right pocket, nothing else in any pocket. The closest thing to a superstition is my wallet can't be in my pocket. I will stop in the middle of a swing if I think my wallet is there, almost like I think it will throw off my balance. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  19. My online persona started out as Calculus Entropy partially because it was Cleavon Little's character in Fletch Lives and partially because of my education (advanced science degree). Over time I changed to MaxEntropy because it was shorter to type in the era before auto filling. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  20. Played last night and shoot a pretty solid 42, 42. I normally have too many blow-up holes but manged to minimize that a bit. I was still hitting woods pretty well but irons continue to be a struggle. The highlight was an eagle on the par 5 10th (no irons required - driver, hybrid, putter). Don't you hate it when you think you have a six iron but hit the ball about 30 yards short because you actually have a 9 in your hands? Yeah, I did that. Still managed a par out of the deal, but pretty much felt like a dumba$$. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  21. I played 54 holes in three days with some friends in Illinois. Didn't play too badly (90, 88, 89) for me considering strange courses. The last round was better than the score indicates as it was about 20 mph winds and some crazy pin placement on very fast greens. Highlight was a birdie on par 5 that was 529 on the card, but the three of us guessed it to be playing between 650-700 uphill and into the wind. Driver, 3w, 5 iron (all fairly good contact) to about 4 feet. The last nine was a bit of demo day for me - my friend offered to let me use his Callaway Apex irons he bought not that long ago. Forgiveness was amazing. Not a huge difference in distance from my irons - maybe half a club, but off-center hits still went nearly where I wanted. The weekend also highlighted my current biggest weakness is my irons (GIR in the 30% range for the weekend), as I hit 6 greens on the back and shot 41 as opposed to the 48 on the front. 24. We didn't hardly see anyone. It was a very warm and humid afternoon by Ohio standards and the pro shop told me they offer up non-member times when demand is low by the members. The few we ran in to, seemed pretty mellow, but I have experienced the snotty kind of members in the past. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  25. A local country club has started offering "member for a day" tee times (I assume they need a little more revenue?). I took advantage of it today. I've never played the course, but it is pretty nice - greens were very fast. I played much better than Tuesday, but ever since I switched to the claw grip, it seems to take longer to dial in the speed, so putting was a bit of a disaster, even after spending about 20 minutes on practice green. I got off the tee a lot better today and hit some pretty good irons. 45 and 42 for a +16. I hit a Few very nice hybrids, but the highlight was a nice sand save - I don't get to play courses very often with nice bunkers but I had a serious fried egg that I managed to blast out to within tap in distance for par. As soon as I hit it, it occurred to me I should have taken a picture of the lie. Sent from my BLN-L24 using MyGolfSpy mobile app
