  1. Just picked up a dozen Srixon Z Star XV golf balls to try. Last round I played, I used one that I had found in the woods. Enjoyed the feel with the putter enough that I figured it may be time to switch up the ball.

I may have to update my profile pic if these work out for me. While I have enjoyed the crome softs I still haven't found a ball that has wowed me like the Nike Blacks.

  2. I believe places like Top Golf help grow the game more than a par3 course, and don't carry the financial problems. I can't remember the other chain that's similar to top golf but has launch monitors in the stalls and you can pay to play certain courses. But anyways I feel like those sort of places are better set up to introduce new people.

I would be curious what it would cost and how it would impact public courses to have a set of par 3 tees on all the holes. (Or maybe just the front nine)

I don't know if logically that would work but it could solve the money issue that woe a solely par 3 course while providing a place for new player to learn the game.

  3. Somewhere around 30+ Execs with more being planned. 12 Championship course's with another one on the board.

Wow I really need to get back up there and play some of them. Any recommendations? I'm sure you had to really enjoy the weather we had in Florida this spring.

  4. Villages FL., as I was taking the pic a Ranger cane by and he said that gators were everywhere on the course today. Warm temps & mating season.

How many courses do you all have in the Villages now? I've played a few of the executive ones but I can't remember their names for the life of me.

  5. I like carrying a 3 wood in the bag most places I play. I carry hybrids in place of my 3 and 4 irons. Some courses I play require accurate tee shots so then I pull either the lob wedge or 3 wood and add a 2 hybrid to my bag. (I call it a 2 hybrid, it's really a 3 hybrid adjusted as strong as it can be with a 3/4 inch longer shaft) it gives me lots of roll but it's great to play on shorter more technical holes. I have been recently thinking of adding a 5 wood to the rotation, especially when playing in scrambles or other events that I want to be tackling greens from further out.

So I side with what Revkev said, think about where you normally play and what kind of shots you want to have in your bag.

  6. Just lost my last AVX ball from the trial sleeve I was given. Loved the ball, basically it's a yellow ProV1 to me. But not in love with that price. Currently I am trying out the Titleist Tour Soft. My wife bought a golf outing in a silent auction and it came with a dozen. It's a good ball all the way to the green but there's just something I don't like about putting it.

So long story short, took a break from my yellow ChromeSofts to try out the AVX but going back to ChromeSofts. Unless Titleist starts making the ProV1 in yellow.

  7. I was able to play both Friday and Saturday. Both rounds had some ups and downs. I really had trouble reading the speed of my putts which left me with quite a few 3 putts. What was surprising though was my tee ball. I only missed one fairway total for both rounds. Normally my tee shot is the weak point and I am able to make up for it with my great short game. But the past few rounds it's been the opposite. Man, you just have to love this game sometimes...

Going to try to slip out this weekend and work on chipping and putting.

  8. Lol, carded another 82. This time it was a 40 + 42. Missed a few fairways that I should of hit. And again left 6 putts an inch low. Those putts will start falling soon, not really going to worry about anything.

Going to try and sneak out to the range tomorrow and get some swings in.

  9. Seems like my game is starting to turn around. Shot a 82 (40+42) with two doubles. Both of which were caused by blading a wedge over the green and ending up under a tree. Also left a two birdie putts an inch or two short.

I don't know what's changed, maybe getting my irons fixed brought some confidence back to the rest of my game. Whatever it is I hope it hangs around for a few more rounds.

Going to work on my short game some. The blades were caused by looking up mid swing so at least I can fix that.

Hope everyone here is improving as well, it at least is having fun outdoors.

  10. I don't think new putters make a big difference. You have Jordan using an old SC. Then you have guys who swear by the original PING Anser. When you find the right putter, you keep it.

This, all this lol. To me, putting is all feel. New tech is great because it gives the player another option in feel and weight. But once you find something your should stick with it.

I'm an anser player myself, old school, smooth face and no insert. It just works for me. I swapped to a 2 ball putter for a bit but have since gone back to the ping. Any time I'm in a golf shop I'll try out a few of the new clubs just to see what's available but I always keep coming back to my ping.

  11. Just looking for suggestions for ones to try in a fitting rather than just the stock or $300 upcharge shafts.

I gotcha, I really like the Adalia rogue silver that's in my current driver. It also happened to be one of the shafts included with the M2 I was getting. So I can't really speak on if it was worth the price.

  12. Honestly best bang for your buck is the shaft that you were fitted for IMO. Trying to go for a cheaper option that may not fit your swing could cause you to replace it down the road costing you more money. At your price point, you can find pretty much any shaft, just may have to shop around or wait for a sale.

If you are set on looking for a bargain I have heard great things about Xcalibers for the forum. Never swung them myself but they seem to have a lot of good buzz.
