About Me
My index isn't real, I only play between injuries. Scoliosos, kyphosis, arthritis. Now, in 2024, I am looking forward to big toe fusion surgery, and then to breaking 100 and playing 2 or 3 rounds a week. Just retired late 2023.
I used to conduct tournaments in the 1990s for mid level executives and officers of Bank of America in San Francisco, but then got hit with nerve entrapment in my elbow. Three years on disability. No golf. Not even a steak knife. Had surgery to release the nerve, learned the Alexander Technique for posture, movement, and balance, and it has saved my life. I have pretty severe scoliosis and kyphosis, and using Alexander has let me build small increase in the short side muscles so that I am less bent. So know I can golf and lift and such. Alexander is like slow motion yoga, slow motion Pilates. And it is not deep tissue work, it is not painful. It is something you learn within a few months to "permanently" change your posture and balance, you don't have to keep paying for monthly adjustments.
I like finding older clubs that still work well. I used some Stan Thompson BeCu Gintys, and use a 1960s era Hogan sand wedge and Don Martin chipper.
Driver: PXG 0211, original 2021 version on Evenflow Riptide 40 gram A flex.
3 wood: Callaway Steelhead Xr on CK Tensei blue A flex 55 gram.
5 Wood: Titleist TSi 1, on Ascent regular flex.
3 Hybrid: Honma U 22 on Honma Vizer grey 60 R shaft.
5 Hybrid: Mizuno 5 Fly-Hi on Recoil F3 shaft.
3 iron: Mizuno MP MMC 2018 on Recoil F3. My driving iron.
4 iron: Mizuno Fli Hi GFF 24 degree. Hollow body type of hybrid, even tho is forged.
Irons: 6-W Ping I 500 on Recoil F3 flex.
Wedge: Blue Mizuno S5 52 deg, 9 bounce. My best club. Wedge steel shaft.
Sand: Old Old Old Original Hogan Sure-Out sand wedge 56 degree, maybe 12 bounce. It works. Orig steel shaft.
Wedge: Blue Mizuno T7 60 degree, 7 ? bounce Wedge steel shaft.
Chipper: Don Martin bronze Up-n-In chipper.
Putter: K-Mart Precise, face balanced, Pistol 3.0 Super Stroke grip.
Putter: Scotty Futura X counter weight. Circa 2016.
I usually leave the Honma 3H and Mizuno 5H out, because there is little in the way of deep rough where I play. Lots of hardpan, trees, tree debris, instead. The Mizuno 3 iron is my rescue club.
