  1. Pork shoulder on the pellet grill, waiting for it to reach 165 internal before I wrap it with some apple juice. Trying out Traeger’s pork rub, demo days at Costco - the Traeger guy talked me into it. Hot for us, 90 today, so I’ll be sittin’ & chillin’ in the shade watching the smoke roll.
  2. Today only! Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter - $50 off https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-ks1-putter---right-handed.product.100645850.html
  3. You get what you get with families. Make sure you are doing all you can in order not to follow in those footsteps! It’s a good thing to have father’s around.
  4. It would be really, really nice to be able to download csv files. Tableau is nice but a real spreadsheet on a big monitor is better
  5. I can’t remember how to do it but I think(!) there is a way to put the watch in ‘pause’ mode, it will ignore swing until you enable it again. I didn’t pay much attention to it, I’d forget to turn it back on
  6. This is a biggie. My dad died when I was 18 of a heart attack, there one day and gone that evening. Oh to see him just for 5 minutes and be able to say thanks and that I love him. 46 years later and it still brings a tear to my eye. I hate that you have to lose her but I’m thankful that you’ll see her.
  7. We talked about this a bit last year. My take is when you take a practice swing the tag and watch sync up, you can see what club you have on the watch. Remember, the watch band has an antenna in it, so the tags and watch do talk to each other. The watch now reads the GPS coordinates. It has no idea if and when you actually hit the ball. After you move some distance away from this location the watch will assume you will be hitting your next shot Several have noticed that if you seriously duff one a short distance that only one shot will be recorded. It’s a simple design that appears to work well.
  8. Day to day life, progressives. And I can play with them if it’s a darker day. You get used to it. Normal golf days in the sun? Single vision, polarized sunglasses. I don’t have any issues with seeing what I think I need to see. A good prescription means my vision is sharp. If you aren’t satisfied, go back and get tested again!
  9. I’m hoping we don’t have multiple boards out there. Here’s a screenshot of the code I used.
  10. Are you looking at the global scoreboard or the MGS board? The right scoreboard can ease the pain a little. Globally I’m 5363 but on the MGS board I’m all the way up to 67th And who is this D Ryan person with a 405yd drive?
  11. I have a set of Hogan Apex II, that 2 iron can intimidate but I’ve found that I can still hit it. Now if I just had the swing speed to make the stiff staff cooperate… I had some college guys take some swings, they loved the club even though it was demanding. They could launch it out there 220+. Me? 180 is around my best.
  12. I’m still tracking shots but I’ve stopped tracking putts, or at least tracking the exact places on the green. I try and place the pin in the correct position and where my approach shot ended up. I only track the number of putts after that. As you can tell I manually enter putts since I don’t have the tags on the putter. My thought is I need to see how well my approach’s are doing over time. Putting? Not so much. I don’t have a home course, I play almost all the courses in my area, their speed and slopes vary widely. Discerning a pattern is hard. Even before the ‘work from home’ movement I was at home. There’s no one in locally that I work with so why go into office? During calls I pick up the putter and practice rolling the ball end over end. I think that’s more important to my personal game.
  13. “Human rain delay” - that’s a good one
  14. Thanks for posting your experience, I appreciate knowing your thoughts.
  15. We now have strokes gained metrics and we can compare ourselves against different handicaps. If I compare myself to a 10 hcp and see that I’m X strokes plus/minus from that average, can I roughly assume I’m X strokes away in handicap as well? I don’t carry a handicap and probably never will. Plus I’m too lazy to calculate it myself. I’m guessing if SS says I’m 1.5 away from a 10 hcp in SG that I am also 1.5 away in handicap as well. Roughly. Good assumption? p.s. - it takes me twice as many words to ask a question as the average person. That’s my handicap!!
  16. P-average here as well. Seems to match up to numbers I can count on in a good situation. Rough? Uphill downhill? Wind? Those are variables that will play in the club selection just like in the world without the p-average numbers. That said, are the numbers perfect? Not with me swinging the club! But I greatly appreciate having a better baseline than what I had before.
  17. I’m on my second season with a V3. No real complaints but having it be a tad bit smaller would be good. Maybe start computing handicaps, would be easy for them to add. I’m going to have to cut my sensor down as well.
  18. 127 into a slight breeze. Too far for a stock 52, too short for a PW. Yes, I have a gap. What else to but hit the 52 hard? Knowing that I pull the ball when I swing hard I aim right and let her rip. 18” short. No pics as we were all too busy talking about what could have been.
  19. 45th place, tied with a bunch of you guys at -1. If I’m reading this thing right. @jddaigneault leading at -10
  20. I played Saturday with three older folks. They were terrible! Every shot was 50-100 feet, even their putts! They were great folks and a pleasure to hang with. We had a good time on the course Enjoy the game, enjoy the people you’re with even if they aren’t very lovable. None of us have learned to walk on water yet.
  21. I’ve heard about gymnastics, equestrian, archery and now golf. It seems like if the kid shows an ounce of talent then the family, not just the parents, are all in. Even to the homeschool/online school level of commitment.
  22. 167 to a sucker pin just behind the bunker. Nope, no HIO today. Did hit it pin high to the fat of the green, easy par.
  23. Yes! Another meaningless entry into a contest I will never win!
