  1. We are venturing out tonight but only to another couples house. Simple dinner, simple games, simple laughs. Plenty good enough for me
  2. Doesn't Arccos have statistics like this? Or did I read that wrong? To be honest I was a little miffed that SSV3 didn't have this, then I realized it was user error
  3. Good point, we do hit certain clubs more than others. SSV3 doesn't show the number of shots but a percentage, for (most of) my irons -
  4. This swing sequence picture of DJ. I've always been a flipper. Even though I knew it I struggled to feel what it was to not flip. This picture (with a driver!) gave me a good mental picture of a good position to strive for. Not saying I'm there but I can feel like I have my hands in front now. To me having your hands this far forwards seems insane but who's going to argue with DJ?
  5. Not exactly sure where this belongs, feel free to move it if that will help. Like a lot of others I bought a ShotScope V3 6 months ago. Shout out to @deejaid for the post just a bit back where he complained that the web site interface was different than mobile. That started me on a path to check out the web version of ShotScope. I never realized there was some statistics available, and some good stuff at that! Learn something every day, eh? Looking back at 2020 and seeing what didn’t work so well has been a little eye opening. I’ll be taking this news with me into ‘21. Only 15 rounds have been captured with SSV3 since the 16th of July. It’s been hard to get rounds in since everyone discovered golf this year. We don’t have that many courses in Co Springs, tee times have been a precious commodity. 1st note to self - play more in ‘21. Overview of the Year Ignore the bit about the Round, that was the last round played. I don’t carry a handicap but that +16.88 for an average score seems right. I’ll say that’s ok for 2020 but I need to improve in ‘21. Distances - P-Avg (playing average) Good Lord I’m all over the place. Take some of these numbers with a grain of salt. I don’t use a 5 wood very often so it’s hard to get a good average. In fact besides the driver, the upper end of the bag doesn’t get used that often. Longer holes I normally go driver/6i. That my go-to combo. That lack of gap between the 8 & irons? Hmmm. Strange bit that. Maybe the 8i needs to be checked out. Here’s the longest, we all like to believe our longest is our normal shot. At least it looks a little more normalized. The 8 & 9 irons are still goofy. Drives - the good, the bad, the ugly Yeah, that’s a couple of 83yd drives in the lower left. Super human I ain’t. But the long was a legit 300yd’er, no helping wind or anything. Shocking! I’m an equal opportunity sprayer of the ball on the tee shots. Approach shots - just call me Shorty 2nd note to self - club up you fool! You’re not as long as you think you are. This will be a continuing theme for putting as well. Short Game - maybe there’s some hope after all This is chips and pitches of course. Doesn’t look too shabby. 3rd note to self - don’t slack on practicing this area of the game. Putting - yeah, just call me Shorty Kudos to ShotScope for not pulling any punches - Never up, Never in. Okay, okay - I get it. I’ll start working on blasting it by the hole. 1 vs 2 vs 3 putts Three putts at 8%. Prolly not too shabby but thinking back and a lot of those were stupid mistakes. Should be easy to clean up? 4th note to self - pay attention dummy! Day dreaming not allowed. Here's to a better '21 since I can clearly see what needs work
  6. Think of as virus protection, manly smells will keep people more than 6 feet away
  7. Wow, sounds grand! Also sounds exhausting Can I just poach on your leftovers? LOL My wife and daughters have outlawed huge dinners, too much work on their part. I smoked a turkey but otherwise Cracker Barrel provided the rest of the Thanksgiving meal. Happy wife, happy life!
  8. PMJ is great. Love their stuff with Morgan James!
  9. 2021 has already started for me. Purchased a season membership at our local First Tee for use of the indoor facility. The launch monitor set up isn’t the best by First Tee’s own admission but it beats what I have access to anywhere else. This gives me a chance to whack at balls and get some feedback on what’s happening. I’ve been visiting 2-3 times a week since the first of November. Finally cleaned our basement out enough to allow me to chip into a cheesy net. I pretty much work from home, even pre-COVID, and end up sitting on calls. I’m just there to lend a hand of needed, not actually participating, so I head to the basement and chip. Only 15 ft to work with but I’ve already started to see the payoff from this practice. Played a couple of week ago and chipped one in from 60ft. Chipping has been spot on the past few times I’ve played. For the actual year? I said this last year - play more. I was ready to do this in 2020 but the virus brought everyone out, it was hard to get rounds in this year. Play more, gotta find a way to get that done. The top end of my bag is tough for me, I need to sort that out. There is a pro available at First Tee, I’m thinking about giving her a chance to sort me out. Score-wise I’d like to move from the mid to upper 80’s down to the lower 80’s. It wouldn’t take much. More consistency off the tee, better chips to take some pressure off the putter - do these and I’d easily be moving down. Here’s to 2021!
  10. I’d like to see more in depth testing on the techie side of things - seems like Most Wanted articles for things like GPS, launch monitors, lasers are far short on detail. Might as well be a Golf Digest most hot 100 list Testing these things to a known yardage, see who can get the closest. Not ranking a LM highly? Great, tell us why instead of just a score that has no meaning. Show us the data!
  11. A check? What’s that? I haven’t written a check in years, maybe a decade
  12. I’m much like many others and simply spaced on donating this year, shame on me. Never won a thing, never tested a thing but I do enjoy the chatter. It’s worth the $5/mo
  13. Gee, if I had his attitude I’d never play at all! Just about everyone is better than me. Makes me no difference, I love hitting that ball, and it’s replacement Better than me? Great, I’ll be watching you like a hawk. Demeanor, course management, etc.
  14. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll get to get a round in. 60 today but my go-to course refuses to let walk ons in. Checked in at the clubhouse where they told me they’d try to remember me. Saw two 3-somes and a twosome tee off within 30 minutes afterwards. Sigh. Spent an hour and a half chipping and putting so it wasn’t a complete loss.
  15. No one is thinking about playing here either.
  16. I fight the same battles with my mom.
  17. There’s a story about Lee hitting a bad shot and letting loose with some colorful language afterwards. A lady standing close by objected to his choice of words. Lee’s response? ”I’m sorry ma’am, I thought you were a tree” Struck me as funny even to this day
  18. I did trim the ‘stash today cause the ladies do need to be kept happy . I’ll dial the beard back a bit later on this week, don’t care for a beard that’s longer than my hair!
  19. Love watching racing of any kind but Rally is my favorite. What those guys do with the cars on *all* surfaces is unreal. “Turn right to go left”. Paul Newman - Cars
  20. In 3packs only - Maxfli SoftFli or StraightFli at $10 per dozen. Might be a short lived sale. All colors! Link
  21. I think it’s more for keeping the skin moist than adding that much flavor. Take that with a grain of salt (pun intended) as I’m a smoking rookie!
  22. Due to arthritis my feet are jacked up. I’m finding Adidas to be the most comfortable for me. No issues with grip but I don’t apply a lot of torque. I practice in non-golf shoes.
  23. Don’t forget to add the bacon!
  24. More COVID crap. My brother played 18 with a long time friend, same cart. Got a call the next day that the friend was exposed. The day after that the friend was sick. There goes Thanksgiving dinner. I feel for my mom (85) who will be sitting at home alone instead of seeing family (brother, wife and daughter). I’m not included, I’m 600 miles away.
