  1. It is simply called Golfshot, and indeed it works with my Moto Z Android. I tried 18-Birdies briefly, but found I like this one better because it allowed me to enter all my club data in and has a simple "track my shot" feature that you saw here. I've only used the "free" version so far and am too chicken to upgrade yet to one of their subscriptions which adds even more features, but so far so good. Also, that day was the first time I used it mainly for this thread.
  2. I'm a "tweener" Driver SS is low to mid 90's (mostly low), but a stiff flex usually fits me better and that is based mostly on feel. In fact, all my shafts are now of the stiff variety. I started with R-flex with everything and had awful results. After being fitted to a stiff shaft for my first ever driver fitting last year, I have since upgraded all equipment to stiff with very positive results across the board. Are they perfect? No. But they "feel" right and I am comfortable with them all. I can also certainly tell the difference between R & S and R for me just feels like a noodle. I believe for me it has a lot to do with my semi-violent transition... My 2-cents.
  3. Sometimes I find one just has to can the driver into the penalty box and swallow some pride. A very hard thing for me to learn especially when my dumb ego gets in the way... Glad you fellas had a great day out there together. Don't worry. Driver will be back I am most assured-Cheers!
  4. Still, in all a great round my Man! 73 is nothing to sneeze at!
  5. Thanks!!! The other goofy thing was I went out stone dead cold. No warm-up, no nuthin'. Just tee-it-up and go...probably explains the 8 on #1......er, no it doesn't I just flogged that one to death...Probably changed some weather patterns with my ugly windmill effect..!
  6. So my first impressions with the MTB-X (yellow) are "Oh crap! it still balloons!" But that was on one of few good hits I've had from the tee with driver so far, and that one was into the wind. I've only played with a few (3) off and on for the last couple of rounds and simply don't have al lot good data yet. I think I am having a bit of vapor lock when looking down at a yellow ball...just something I need to get used to. It does feel a little harder off the putter face and I simply need some more quality time with them (especially around the greens) before I say "yay" or "nay". More to come.
  7. Enjoyed the 3 Coors Banquets during my round earlier today...now finishing and celebrating with a few Ezra Brooks on-the-rocks to help ease the soreness...
  8. I did everything imaginable wrong to start that one...just awful. Bogied the next hole (par-3) with a 2-putt after coming up a bit short off the tee, pared #3 then was in the stinking water again off the tee on #4 which is another par-3. Hit from the drop zone and 2-putted for a 5. Then when birdie, par, par, par, par. I was on . Should-a had a bird on 9 after driving the green in 2, but my 3-putt demon said "NOT!" It was certainly fun for sure, especially since I usually fold after bad holes.
  9. A few of my successful approach shots from today's 85..!
  10. Thanks Bud, that really means a lot to me! And with all things golf, it's those frickin' "what-ifs" that continue the humbleness I reckon.
  11. Normally I'll just post a nice approach shot, maybe a wedge or two and many fairway wood shots here, but today is different. Best shot of the day today for me was the birdie putt I made on the par-5 5th. The tee shot was a crap, short power-fade helped by a left-to-right wind that carried me to the first cut on the right. Slammed a 3w to 75-yds or so and hit a real nice 54* wedge to here... Read it for right-edge and 12'. Putt rolled true but when it got to the hole, it looked as if I had just missed and the ball would stay just to the right of the hole maybe <1/2" away, but 1 more turn and it collapsed in from the right, back edge..! I was so sure I had missed it, I almost looked up and away in anguish, but saw it die into the cup at the last second!
  12. Best round for me to date...41/44 for an 85 with 34 putts. Yes, I actually sunk some flippin' putts today! A 12-footer for bird, 2 others from 20 & 22' for pars and another 12-footer for a par also. In fact pars were the order of the day...8 of them with four-in-a-row to finish the front 9! Driver again was pretty good, but for me to score like this, pretty much everything has to go right. First hole though was a blow-up 8 +4, but I just put it behind me and enjoyed the evening. Happy boy! Added a photo of the scorecard from my Golfshot app...
  13. Am I maxed-out on badges? If not, could I please have a broke (80 or 90?) after my 85 today..!!!
  14. Indeed! I plan on doing it at least 3-4 times if I can annnnnnnnd, I have some surprises for you in the works for a new PPE pic...
  15. If you have the means and the time, that would be the way to go for sure. The adjustments are pretty basic and intuitive. In a couple of my initial range sessions I basically went through this progression each time; Started with neutral (10.5*) and hit 5-6 shots. Changed to -1* hit 5, then to -1.5* and hit 5. Then back to neutral for a couple of shots and then tried +1* and +1.5* similarly. When I first changed to -1* it felt very good and I hit those shots the best, so I simply dialed into that and it seems to be the one for me. I tried the -1* & +1* with the lie-angle setting with mixed results, so I have simply left it with the standard lie-angle and effectively at 9.5* loft. Of course all this was done out on a driving range with no type of LM at the time-all feel and real-world visual results albeit with range rocks... FYI, you can really tell just by how much of the face is showing at address how much those little adjustments make to the look of the club when looking down at it as it lies flat on the ground.
  16. Now you got me as excited as @yungkory is about @jlukes' pending thread..! HEAL FASTER!!!
  17. Yeah, both those were "nuked" from the tee and were by far our best on the back-9. My tracker app had me at 235 and Bill was definitely better. By eyeball, I had him at least 10-yards better at 245...
  18. Hole #3 at Banbury Golf Club is a 136-yd par-3 from the whites with water in front and right. Flushed an 8-iron toward my target left that cut nicely right and landed about 12' away from the cup to the left and behind it a bit. Made a clean par.
  19. A 77 is nothing to shake a stick at..! Nice work out there!!!
  20. Played a round of "hooky" golf with fellow Spy @fixyurdivot who had come down this way over at Banbury Golf Club Thursday. We both had a great time together and it was awesome to play a round with such a fine gentleman. Darn guy wouldn't let me buy a beer all day..! Anyhow, we played the front as normal, but switched up to do a round for the 2019 Hard Rock Challenge on the back (details here) Overall though I went 46/50 on a pretty darn hard course with lots of water (whites are 67.3/120 @ 5,733-yds). I had 3 pars on the front (none on the back with the brick) and only a few "others" on the card all day. My biggest thing was putting...poor putting...I mean really BAD putting..! There are 5 par-3's on this track and I hit 3 of them in regulation-all with solid looks at birdie. ALL 3 holes I 3-putted...yes I said it and I own it. I just SUCKED!!! Even on "scoring" holes like the par-5 496-yd 12'th where I was just within 20' of the front pin just on the apron after 3, I walked off with a stupid 6. Something's gotta give here because driving is coming along nicely, my former 175-185-yd gap is confidently covered and I am hitting irons and wedges pretty OK of late-mostly...
