  1. Yes, some of the old stuff was sketchy in looks but the clubs always performed. The forged high end offerings have always been more than solid. Look at how long the TE was offered. The MMB was another that was in the catalog forever and they were spot on. The biggest difference now is even the low cost heads have great looks as well. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  2. Here are a set of TS-1s with the Xcaliber RTi shafts. The 5 and 6 are the 75g S flex. The 7-PW are the 95g softstepped. The GW has the awesome Spinwedge shaft to cap off the set. The Spinwedge is 100g. Over all the set is just about perfect and easy to play, yet give superior control.q To call these unfinished is Ludacris! These are beautiful in looks and such a well rounded club. The sole design is subtle but has turf interaction to rival a Srixon. I have been having these go head to head with a Hogan Players combo set, same shaft setup, and these wipe the Hogans up in almost every category. I have a sentimental place in my heart for the Hogans but in all honesty it's not much of a contest between the two clubs. The TS-1s are easier to hit at every spot in the bag. They feel better and are far more forgiving. Looks is a toss up as I'm a DBM finish kind of guy. That nod has to go to the Hogans though. The TS-1s are stronger lofted in places and the distance certainly shows. Spin and flight control, the Hogans spin more but not a ton. I can flight the TS-1s a bit easier. Both have great control but you can't beat the touch of the TS-1s. So I'm calling the TXG comments as BS. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  3. He couldn't be more wrong about that statement. I'm not sure if he has had any of the designs of the last two years in his hands. I'm willing to bet he gets sponsored by the OEMs. With the Maltby heads he wouldn't have those wide profit margins either. But to call them unfinished designs is just crazy. 4. The next iron out will be a players forging. Details on it have been minimal, but expect something that could replace the TE. Heard one more order for the DBM heads has been placed and when thats gone so are they. The TE will drop out next. The MMB replacement is down the road still. Britt was saying that development time has been far longer due to delays and back ups at the factories with shut downs and supply chain issues. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  5. They are only down to a few sets left of the PTM Black. I just picked up another set myself before they disappear. The PTM fell victim to a run away best seller in the TS line. Its really a shame because in doing fittings I would sell three sets of PTMs to one set of the TS line. It was a do all, be all, no nonsense iron that damn near everyone could hit well. Wasn't fancy with understated good looks. Will be interesting to see what comes next. Because the TS line knocked out almost three heads. The MMB-17, the PTM and the TE is just holding on. 6. There certainly can be a lot said for.. If it's not broke don't fix it. Your equipment now has carried you to a decent handicap. If you feel your equipment is holding you back or uts mismatched for you then its time to buy some new gear. But,,, you must get the best fit for your game. No matter what category that entails. The proper shaft and grip can do more for your game than any head. Find a fitting professional in your area who has a good reputation. Do some homework and have a realistic budget. 7. The demo program has gone very well. Anyone who is interested give me a shout as I have a bunch of clubs back and ready to ship out. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  8. These are so unique that it does take a little bit to see what they like. So many people talk about the second range sessions as being OMG moments. These clubs are really starting to gain traction especially with club builders who are just learning about them. The versatility of the 75g shafts are freakish. Wait a year and these shafts will be everywhere. I will be testing a sub 60g driver shaft next week that has speced out better than imagined. Hoping its a revelation like the 75g shafts. Time will tell. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  9. I buy new heads every year so my wedges are always fresh. Its so cheap. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  10. Those have a much higher effective bounce. So you can almost throw out the factory bounce rating. In my setup I use 52 and 56. The 52 is the M+ Tour which is the narrowest but hardly a true tour wedge. Then the 56 is the mid with the much larger sole. As a digger they are near perfect for my game. Help with more bounce but still enough to be very versatile.. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  11. The M Series + wedges are just brilliant in the variety of soles they offer. You can find just the right wedge if you swallow your pride and forget about Tour style designs. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  12. Great post and just exactly what I have seen on data between the two. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  13. This is exactly what the Rapid Taper shafts have been doing. High launching long irons with the 75g and then the heavier 95g that keep them lowered and more control. I really like the 4° gaps with the PTMs. Wish more clubs would stay with that gapping. The TS-2s bend pretty easily. No issues what so ever. Only Maltnys that are tough to bend are the DBM finished clubs. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  14. Ok this might get long. The TE/DBM for me launched too high a few years back when I bagged them and I struggled losing it right when they would balloon up to the right. Some of that was my own swing fault. But the design nature ot those irons give them possibly the lowest center or gravity of any players iron head. Which will get them up in the air very quickly. Plus they look tiny at address with the very thin top line. Can intimidate some players The KE4 and the TS-2 can sort of be talked about in the same group. Both are a very solid choice where forgiveness is a bigger priority over shot making. Ill give the nod to the KE4 in terms of being able to work the ball. The TS-2 irons are distance monsters that really go along way yet still give you excellent spin numbers. But they tend to just wanna go straight. Wider sole and thick topline give it an UGI feel. Not a bad thing mind you but don't expect to be able to move it around as you like. I could hit a draw with the long irons as they have a pretty good offset but beside that they just go stright. As for the PTM. These have been the biggest surprise in the Maltby lineup. Longer blade length look that can turn off some players but are so dam easy to hit. Thinner topline that appeals to better players. Forgiveness that is way up there with any other forged head. No nonsense design, very consistent. Spin wise I put them as right where they need to be. Only way to describe them. Won't spin off the green on you but still hold a firm green. Now for the Hogans. I really wanted the combo set as I like to play a blade in my short irons and a forgiving club in the longer. As you said im fine with a radically different set of long irons. It wasn't offered in black. So I grabbed the great, head only deal Hogan offered me in the all PTx Pro. I'm obsessed with the long irons in feel and performance. Its exactly how I like an iron to feel and perform in every category. They spin on the verge of too much if you don't play for it. The stopping ability of the long irons is amazing. Once the irons get to the 8 the design changes to a sort of solid yet its three pieces, and here is what I really dislike about the PTMs. They... for me... lack feel. Even when I hit a great shot I feel indifferent about how it felt. Most times I have no idea on where it hit the ball on the face. I've really worked at the range to get better contact, and I ahve, but its still a struggle. Had I gotten the icon 8-Pw I think it would have been pure love. When I get home i will still have some time to play but my 8-PW might be the PTM blacks with the 4-7 being the Hogans. Hope that helps feel free to ask anything else. 15. Mine are all samples so the samples were just black. Down the road I'm hoping that a special addition all black or a matte black will be done. If for nothing else ill be ordering some for myself. So for right now its just the Silver ion with the rings and logo. At first I was not a fan but the design has more than grown on me. Plus in person people really seem to like it. The sets I have built with the painted shafts i have yet to have anyone say anything negative about them in person. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  16. I also want to add that the P790s spun far less than the comparable TS-2 with identical shafts. Thus making the P790s difficult to stop on the green. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  17. The P790 and the TS-2 is a far better comparison. Lofts are actually very close as well. The TS-1 is more blade like in every way possible. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  18. To play devils advocate.. usps took 23 days to deliver some shafts for me this month. It was 2 days guaranteed. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

  20. Later this week i will have TS-1, TS-2, PTM, STi2 and an M890 head for demos with the Rapid Taper shafts. If anyone is interested send me a PM. I'll have a variety of flexes and the M890 in an A flex. Good for a woman or gramps. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  21. I think that is a big part of the reason why people can't grasp the MPF. Too long a hosel is weight too high. Short blade length kills MOI and so on. But seeing it visually between a high scoring club and a low club helps. But the entire MPF is out the window for a golfer who pure strikes a club again and again. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  22. Huge difference over all in wear and tear on your body. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  23. Pinehurst #2. The level of difficulty that is as tough as any course out there. Greens that defy description But there is also a gravity to the moment... that you are in the cathedral of golf. I did not rise to the challenge over all. But had a string of 4 pars on the backside and a final birdie on the closing hole. I had many big number holes that I had myself out of position and paid heavy prices for. A place that as you leave you just want a chance to play again. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  24. If you can find the center of the face on a regular basis then the MPF won't make much of a difference to you. I did a lot of comparison between the Hogan PTx Pro heads compared to the Maltby PTM while they were on the bench. In every aspect you can see why the Hogans score so low and the PTMs score so high. Over all blade length of the PTM is much longer. Taller face. Far shorter hosel length. All those add up to a much higher MOI. What you can't see is a LCOG that is right in the center of the face. All of these add up to make the PTM much easier to hit off center. Which is something that the MPF shows in clubs. Hitting the Hogans took me a while to get used to them. I had to find the face on a regular basis to get them to work. I can have a lazy swing and get the PTMs to work. Can't do that with the Hogans. But once I learned what the Hogans,, like they are amazing. Almost all of the OEMs send their heads to Maltby to be measured for the MPF. That alone should say something. The MPF is simply a guide. No different than any other. It gives you a reference. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
  25. Thats exactly why I acquired a set of those PTxPros. I couldnt ignore that undeniable connection of old vs new. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
