  1. I guess I should clarify, i currently game a set of older mp30 up to 5i and a mp52 4i, so I dont feel im too far off of a blade iron as far as ball striking goes. Looking also to upgrade into a newer set of mp irons. I shoot in the low 80's and if I could straighten my drive out, would break 80 more consistently. That is my goal at this point. My iron play is probably the most consistent aspect of my game but it can always be better. So, its not like im playing some chunky GI iron trying to skip into something unrealistic. Im trying this as a way to find the sweet spot more consistently.
  2. So, I'm wondering what some of your thoughts are on practicing with a players iron to improve your swing. I recently bought a demo mizuno mp4 6 iron off ebay. Not because I think my game's good enough for blades, but i was thinking if I can learn to hit a blade reasonably well won't it make playing with a more forgiving iron easier? At first I did not like it at all, definitely wasn't gonna be playing blades anytime soon, but I started grooving it pretty well. The thing I like about it is you get instant feedback. You know right away when you hit it thin/ fat/ off center. At the moment I have been practicing alot at home into a net and was worrying that maybe my good strikes aren't as great as I think because im not seeing ball flight. I feel l am more deliberate with my takeaway now and my tempo has gotten better. Im curious how it translates when i get back on the course. Anyone else practicing this way? 3. A few years back had a guy hit into us on 2 consecutive holes. This was summertime so course was busy. There was no getting around it. Just gonna be a little bit slower. So he hits into us on the 17th. At first i think its my ball because I hit a leaky 5 iron into the rough on a long dogleg par 5, so I had been looking for literally less than a minute, thats how fast they were hitting after us. I dont take long to look either. If i cant find it in a couple quick passes I hit another. The group ahead of us was still on the green, too. I chock it up to a good blind shot and maybe he didnt see us around the corner, whatever, but I did give him a friendly wave when they were driving up just to let them know, we were still there. So last hole is a par 4, basically straight so no chance they dont see us. Also I am playing with my 70 year old father. We are on the green finishing up, walking off and this guy hits a line drive straight towards my father. It hits with some heat on it, bounces and as my father turns to avoid a front hit it tags him in the calf. I could tell it hurt and at that point i was hot. I dont lose my cool often but I walked down the fairway towards this jerk, putter in hand and told him what I thought at that moment. I really wasnt interested in a physical fight so just for good measure I threw in that my father was a civil litigation lawyer, ( he's not) just in case the guy was really an ass and wanted to prove it. He didn't. He was maybe slightly scared, and made the excuse that he skulled it, but I bet, or at least hope he didnt do it again. Sent from my SM-G950U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  4. Didnt Tiger work out hard? Swing hard? And look what happened to him. Lost at least a few good years. Rory hit the weights and lost some touch. Just from those two examples , i think you can definitely take it too far. It will be interesting to see how Bryson does this week. If he lets the "kraken" lose, can he keep it in the fairway? Even if he can muscle it out of the rough, he'll get fliers and thats no good. Besides all that he just doesn't look healthy. Yes hes big but he looks bloated. Something about how he carries the weight looks off. Just my opinion for what its worth. Sent from my SM-G950U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
  5. I think Anser's looking good so far. Morikowa is getting close and if Bryson can keep it in the fairway then he's got a very good shot. Sent from my SM-G950U using MyGolfSpy mobile app

  12. So Bob's playing with his buddies that he's played with for every weekend for like 25 years. Bob never misses a round. These are your typical, fun loving, always giving each other s***, group of guys... So they are on the 9th green that runs along the road leading to the course, having a good time when a funeral procession drives by. Bob takes his hat off and bows his head as the whole procession goes by. The other guys are taken back by Bobs reverence, seeing how they've never seen this side of him so they take their hats off and bow there heads in accord. After the hearse rounds the corner out of sight, Bob puts his hat back on and goes back to lining up his putt. One of the guys cant help but comment, "wow Bob that was incredibly thoughtful and sensitive of you to show your respects like that!" Bob replies, "well it was the least i could do, I was married to her for 35 years". Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. So I went to the range today, got a large bucket. I was hitting the ball great, feeling like this is gonna finally be the year i legit break 80. As I got to the end of the bucket I felt like i was in the groove too much to quit so I walked up to the pro shop and got another medium bucket... Started out fine but by ball 5 or so I was shanking everything! Changed clubs, tried hitting some half shots, tried some bump and run pitches, Everything was a hosel rocket. It was aweful. I'm wondering if thats happened to anyone else and what I may have been doing to cause it? I do remember i was working on trying to fade the ball as I naturally draw the ball so maybe that just totally messed me up, but anyway it was a mess! Please advise!
