  1. I played one before I had time to play more. It was a low investment for something I didn’t have a lot of time or money to do. I also learned I liked the game using that set so when the time came when I had the money and time I knew I was spending money for something I enjoyed.
  2. There is no Tiger or Jack and Arnie. Even if all the guys that went to LIV were back. Those 3 had the it factor. Look at the NBA. First it was Magic/Bird, then Jordan came along and after that Kobe and LeBron. The NFL has Mahomes and before that Brady and Manning. Right now there is no dominant figure to appreciate their dominance or hate their dominance and hope someone takes them down. Maybe Scheffler has that chance but can he keep it up. Having that compelling figure draws people to a sport. Right now golf doesn’t have that guy.
  3. I could probably convince myself to go to $200. At the moment though I am happy with my Cleveland Huntington beach Soft #11 I picked up for &129.
  4. If you’re liking the Tokoma price tag check out Sub 70. They have several forged options and an easy to use demo program. Shaft options are plentiful. The return policy is also good if you’re not happy with the irons. They have a pretty long thread on here.
  5. Definitely old reliable. My Tour Edge EXS 220. This will be year number 4. I get plenty of distance and I’ve been consistently over 60% on fairways hit. I have been trying new drivers here and there but I just put new irons in the bag so I’m not in a big hurry to find something.
  6. I would still advise seeing the doc. Best to get it fixed before you go spending money on expensive shoes. He may also determine why the plantar fasciitis started in the first place. In my case it was a higher than normal and almost no fat pad pad on my heels.
  7. I think the best thing to do is go see a podiatrist about custom orthotics. I had a bad case about 15 years ago. I got the shots in the heel and was fitted for orthotics and no problems until 2 years ago. I was a runner and walked playing golf and had no pain. I didn’t get them rechecked at the 10 year like I was supposed to because everything was fine. Two years ago the pain was back. The original orthotics didn’t fit the shape of my feet anymore so I had to go through the heel shots and had my feet refitted for new orthotics. So far so good as long as I avoid walking around barefoot too much. I have had good results with Olukai products. Those are about the only footwear I have found that I can wear without my orthotics that doesn’t cause my Plantar Facitiitis to flare up.
  8. OEM I would say Tour Edge. DTC I’m a huge Sub 70 fan
  9. If there isn’t much difference and if it’s me I’m not spending a $1000. When I had a similar handicap lessons were much more beneficial than any new clubs would have been.
  10. Having just done an iron fitting it was really just a matter finding the right head/shaft combo. I was mostly between two different heads. Both with the same lofts. I tried the same shafts in each and launch was always different. The fitter explained the construction was a little different in the two heads so even with the same loft and shaft they won’t necessarily launch the same. So maybe you just need a shaft change. I was originally going to just change out shafts since I had had lost some swing speed and wasn’t getting the same launch as when I bought my irons a few years ago. Lucky for me I found a gift card. had trade ins and there was a discount on new clubs it ended up being cheaper than just reshafting. So new clubs.
  11. I have one of each. They are both 4s. I went to a fitting trying to figure out the gapping between the 4w and the 5i. That was the combination that worked best for me. They are both pretty forgiving but the hybrid is the longer of the two. I probably trust the utility iron more off the tee because if my swing is a little off the hybrid can get a little hooky. To me it’s really an individual thing best to either try both or go to fitter to figure out what is best for you.
  12. Darn I was just there last week for an iron fitting. I would have been curious to try them. I have always been curious about one length irons
  13. The part about how the shaft pairs with the head is very true. I was in for an iron fitting last week. Tried several shaft on a couple different heads. Som launched higher. Some launched lower. Everyone was a little different. We found a combo that worked well after a bit of trial and error. Before I went in I talked to a club pro I know. He said there are plenty of good heads out there. Finding the right shaft is what makes the biggest difference.
  14. I would say yes. A good fitter will put you in the right shaft which can make a big difference. Also getting the right lie angle makes a difference. I’m not promising you’ll break 80 but if nothing else properly fitted clubs will help make you more consistent. That’s how it worked for me and I did manage to break 80 and shoot a couple of 80s since I was fitted for most of my clubs.
  15. I’ve had ones that were fine. I have had couple of others that weren’t good but I was able to return them.
  16. There are some great options in the Chicagoland area. I live in the western suburbs and within an hour of me their are so many great courses and most of them won’t cost you an arm and a leg especially if you can play during the week like I usually do.
  17. I have their 286 wedges . They work very well. They also have preowned clubs to save more.
  18. Hit the next one . Maybe that one will be better.

    Tiger or Jack?

They were the best of their eras. That’s all I know.
  20. I will second this. They are fantastic. Just give them a call they will take care of you.
  21. I usually get 4A when I order from Lostgolfballs. I’m like you prices are just to crazy. I have found the quality to be very good. Every once in a while I’ll hit one and it feels terrible so I get rid of but it’s not very often. I get new balls as a present and honestly I can’t tell if it’s a new or used ball except the rare occasion I get a bad one. I have never gone below the 4A balls but I’ve been happy with them.
  22. Funny I just had this discussion with the pro at the course I play sim golf at. I’m short with every club. He watched and said you just don’t swing as hard as when I gave you lessons. He also noticed my launch angles are really high compared to what he saw outside.
  23. Maybe a 48 degree wedge and possibly bend it down a degree if you’re only looking to add 1 club . A 4 utility is nice to have too. I find mine very useful but that gap you have in your wedges would bother me.
  24. I keep a backup/ travel bag. When I replace something in my gamer bag that goes in my backup bag and whatever gets knocked out of the backup bag gets traded in.
