  1. In case you missed my recent posts in the Maltby thread, these are 2 of the more traditional putters that they offer that I just built. They're as good as ANYTHING! Cost me about $120 each (including tax and shipping). All of their putters are worth serious consideration. PTM-4 PTM-5
  2. All of the components are from Golfworks. The head and shaft are Maltby. Total build cost was around $120. I'd call it an ultra premium feeling putter. It's pretty nice.
  3. Yeah I went with a R flex. Standard cut. It feels a little waggle soft but is crazy stable at full juice. If your driver SS is 105++, and like a smooth Otto Phlex-like profile, this shaft is fantastic!
  4. No shame on the double post game! (See Maltby thread) Just built these last night. Maltby adjustable 7 wood and Mallet putter.
  5. That was the 1 concern I had. I loved how squat my Toulon Atlanta was from heel to toe. It made me focus more and ensured that I didn't let the putter wander forward or back. This seems pretty similar. It's definitely deeper than I'm used to but it's not offensive at all. I'll definitely keep everybody posted.
  6. That's exactly what I had, and kicked out for the 7W. I'm really hopeful that this thing is here to stay. So far it seems awesome.. at least for garage golf anyway
  7. I actually just used the standard FW shaft. I went with the R flex and it's so stable and smooth even at a higher SS. That's the great thing about these is that you can easily swap out the weights and they're pretty inexpensive. The polyfill works really well as an alternative. I realize it may not be a conforming modification, but I'm not a competitive player so I'm not too worried. It really does work wonders on the sound dampening though. I'll try that first and see how it goes. TBC
  8. Here's the one I'm really excited to share. The putter turned out AWESOME! So far rolling some putts in the living room, it seems to be really well balanced from head to grip. All I wanted was the exact version of the PTM 4 that I built, but as a mallet. The weight is nearly identical and all the other components are the same. I like the look of this one better but outperforming the PTM-4 is gonna be a heavy task.
  9. Ask and ye shall receive Here is the 7w. So I didn't get a chance to get out to the course today but I did have a nice little 20-minute session in my garage with the Garmin R10. I will say that after spending a few minutes with it, I really think this thing is going to be a beast on the course. I needed a club that I could easily hit and cover about 215-220 yards and get some pretty decent height under the ball AND do it consistently. From the R10 numbers, it appears that this club hits all the marks perfectly! The sound actually wasn't so bad. Being all titanium, sometimes these heads get really tingy with a high pitch sound that I just don't love. The sound was still kind of somewhat of a tink, but with more of a lower pitch than the previous models. I was actually pretty surprised when I put it on the swing weight scale to see c9 which is extremely light for any fairway wood. It didn't really feel that way though when I swung the club And I could totally game it this way. I may experiment with some polyfill in the head to add a few extra grams to get that swing weight up and turn the tink into more of a crack. Another thing to note about these new "Pro" line woods, including the newer driver, is that they play quite flat. I'm a little bit taller at 6 ft 2 so there is such a thing as too flat. That said, using the upright setting on the adapter really puts the club in a nice playable position for me. I have it in the upright standard loft position for both the driver and the seven wood and it really just moves the face from slightly open to dead square and doesn't promote any snap hooks at all.
  10. Got my box of goodies in! Will be making my putter and 7 wood today and playing tomorrow!
  11. So this has been passed around a few times but it works really well as a backup. http://www.leaderboard.com/swingwt.htm
  12. With my pops for my birthday round yesterday. Sunland Village East, Mesa, AZ
  13. Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!! My kids got me an awesome gift! They truly know how I roll
  14. Thanks man! And yes.. I have something to build on the way but they'll be here tomorrow (late birthday) Really appreciate it!
  15. Ha ha I saw that bat signal! I have had my TS4's for a little less than a year. I built them with KBS C-Taper Lite 110 shafts. I've hit just about everything out there and I'll say that these are my "soul" clubs. Everything about them is perfect to me. I'm not a low single digit but play at 8 so these do everything that I ask. They're just forgiving and not so intimidating that I don't question my life's choices when I play them. They feel insane! Off-center shots let you know what you did but don't punish you severely. I say if you like the way they look, and you can somewhat handle a CB or MB, you will love these! Here's what they look like in the wild..
  16. Have had mine for close to a year. Not so much as a speckle of rust. I clean them regularly with a wet towel between shots and have never used any additional protective chemicals. WD40 can only help though and isn't a bad idea from time to time. Any carbon steel, unless specified as "raw" will have some form of chrome or protective metallic coating that's extremely durable and designed to last for years. In this case, as @hckymeyerstated, it's a pearl satin coating. You're good man!
  17. It'll probably at least be May. Those won't be coming from me either but another forum member who's offered them up. Yeah Gabe's a legit player. Carries a low single digit and manages to shoot par playing speed golf with a camera in his face. He gets the job done and he's just one of us! It floors me that EVERY video he releases he gets a handful of comments from guys telling him how to fix his swing and that he's playing wrong. Unsolicited social media criticism.. It's the world we live in unfortunately .
  18. Ha ha so you're safe this round! He will be reviewing my personal set of TS4's. I'm hoping he'll be able to round out the iron reviews with the TS3's eventually though so get that order in!
  19. Yeah that wouldn't be a major problem for me. That was more sarcasm on my part pointing out how ridiculous some of those comments get. I've been in sales and martial arts most of my life so my skin is pretty thick and my ego's pretty small. That said, in helping Gabe field a lot of questions and comments about the Maltby clubs, I discovered that there are a good number of people that love to just talk $hit. It actually makes them feel good. It's an unfortunate sickness that is a real thing and I just wouldn't have much patience for it. Call them trolls or whatever but it gets pretty ridiculous, even in the golf world. One guy even tried to put me on blast with a bunch of stupid comments attacking me personally. I felt bad that this is how the guy spends his time and that it makes him happy to act like that. He was removed but still.. it's a thing these days.
  20. In all seriousness though, I wish I could. I wish I could step away from the market I work in (finance) and do something like that full-time and create content, or get paid to write articles or run marketing for a golf company or something along those lines. (Maybe someday) Unfortunately, with a family, kids, and the need to provide for them all, my already limited time just won't permit me to do something like that. I believe there would be a pretty major learning curve for me as that just isn't my skillset. Like you mentioned, it would be great if Maltby would just publish their own videos at least to put themselves in front of more eyes. I've more/less got direct access to Britt these days so maybe I'll throw that idea past him. I'm sure it's something they've probably considered but maybe there's a reason they haven't done it?
  21. Trust me - this face ain't gonna convince nobody to buy golf clubs! Gabe gets enough crap for his slightly unconventional swing. The world would tear me to pieces and my fragile feelings just wouldn't know how to handle that.
  22. So this unfortunately has been the ongoing battle with Golfworks / Maltby. Other than fit2u and LetsPlayThru, there really are no other videos to speak of. The best way to find out about Maltby is by coming right here or one of the other forums out there. Like I mentioned in my previous post, these other DTC companies are flooding the market with their reviews by sending out loads of free clubs to these reviewers. If you haven't already, you'll notice a trend that pretty much all of these guys just happened to get their hands on "XYZ" set of golf clubs and their videos are pretty much all released back to back to back with other reviewers and the same clubs. That's not a mistake. The big companies do the same thing. It's marketing. Until my colab with Gabe there were really no produced YT videos to speak of and won't likely be any more from other guys unless they're willing to buy a set themselves. Short of completely trolling them, I've done my absolute best to get them to agree to purchase a set from Maltby and that's yet to happen. My hopes with all of this is that eventually Maltby/Golfworks will break down their walls and see the value in these videos. Time will tell
