Played almost exactly how you might expect someone with my handicap to play after not even taking a swing in 4 weeks. Had a couple of good two or three hole stretches, with a couple of looks at birdie, but ended up right on my handicap. Had a couple of disasters, and actually pulled off a three-putt from about 4 feet. (I was trying to hurry, as the mower was literally sitting there running waiting on us.) I did dig out the Eye 2's, which hadn't seen the course in almost 2 years. I still wonder at times why I ever went away from them.

Dang, I wish I was good enough that the ball I play actually mattered. I'm sticking with the Wilson Duo Soft Optix in orange. They're cheap enough, they're pretty soft which I like, and I can see them. I struggle seeing white balls for some reason. My "probably going to splash one" ball is the Wilson Zip. I think they're a surprisingly good ball for $10/dozen. You all can go back to your Pro V1, Chromesoft, Bridgestone, Snell debate now.

So, like an idiot I went back to see what the status of the bag sale was (and to take a couple of pictures for a friend of mine who wanted to see what might be left.) Since this morning, the owner had gone to his other store and picked up some more and brought them to my local store. There was one, and I mean one Traverse cart bag. $179 bag for $79. There weren't any this morning when I was there. I almost walked out without it, but couldn't leave it sitting there.

How about what I didn't buy..... Walked in to the little golf shop nearby this morning and they had brand new Ping Hoofer and Pioneer bags, as well as Callaway Org 14 bags, for $100 off. Probably 40 or 50 bags total. They were expecting them to sell out this morning. I'm exhausted from the exertion of willpower required to not walk out with one.

Nice! Those are 100% my style. I'd get slaughtered if I brought another pair home, but those might be worth it.

And yet it still may be better than my four. I'm not feeling all that optimistic. I might end up with negative points.

Very sorry to hear that. I could have written that post almost word for word 26 years ago (it wasn't a cyst her surgery was for.) I know there isn't a day that goes by where she doesn't think about that baby, who was our 3rd as well. I hope you two can find comfort and peace.

I'm in agreement. You should definitely get credit for players making the cut, and missing out on two days of potential scoring for a missed cut is penalty enough.

I was just getting ready to add that. The other thing is.... You make your own luck. One of the reasons the AFC East is so bad is the Patriots have the other teams turning themselves upside down trying to catch them. The AFC East is weak because the Patriots have the other teams spinning in circles. They've earned it.

The two that come instantly to mind are Rockland Golf Club which I've played several times, and Goose River (I think that's its name) which I've never played. Rockland Golf Club is only a couple of miles from The Samoset, and has consistently been a good place to play. I've driven by Goose River about a million times, but not actually played there. It's either in Camden or Rockport. I don't know which technically, but it's on a back road between the two. It always looked like a neat place to play, and I'm not sure why I never did.

Southwest Harbor is a beautiful area, and not far from Kebo Valley, which is one of the premier courses in the state. It can be pretty busy in the summer with all of the tourists, but all of MDI is nice and Acadia National Park has some beautiful areas.
