1. Went 49/43 for a 92. Played Twin Isles in Punta Gorda. Pretty slow start, but I played 10-17 about as well as I've played in a long time. The 43 on the back includes a TRIPLE on 18.

Shot of the day was on a 127 yard par 3. Pitching wedge to about 6 feet, missed the birdie putt. Made sure I didn't over-read the break like I usually do, and missed low.

Overall, I was pretty encouraged. I hit my irons about as well as I've hit them in a long time, and the new (used) G30 3W shows a lot of promise.

Aaaaaand reality strikes. Played Arcadia Municipal today, which is wide open and pretty straight. Good thing, since the driver was horrible. Still, managed to play the front in 41 but had an awful 48 on the back. Didn't hit a single fairway or green on the back 9. I should know better than to feel encouraged.

3. I'm not sure you could have done any better. She's able to get him twice as many solid balls for the same money that way.

It does beg the question of what's the best cheap beginner's ball? I'm sure there's a thread somewhere, but I'm too lazy to search for it at the moment.[emoji6]

4. Hmm, Graham McDowell made the cut, and then played so poorly today that, even with pars counting for points, his extra 18 holes brought him back into a tie with my guy who didn't make the cut. It's impressive in its own way:

I just came to post that one of my opponents this week had 4 missed cuts, and after 3 rounds I'm winning the matchup 37.5 to 37. Graeme McDowell is a significant reason why It's like that.

I like the logic behind this. But, in my case I don’t practice it enough. When I try backing off I get sloppy and end up blocking it out to the right, or hooking it left. Just need to retrain my brain to ease up a little and not try to hit it 300yds every time. All my timing/tempo has been set swinging 90-100%.

This is me in a nutshell.  As soon as I try to ease up my swing, which isn't great to start with, it becomes downright horrible.

6. I can chunk a shot no matter where people are standing, so I generally don't notice unless I feel like I'm going to hit them somehow.  I almost always want people where they can see from the tee because I'm likely to not see the ball even if it's hit perfectly and I get tired of losing balls out in the fairway.

I played with a guy this weekend that I would have liked to stand approximately 2500 miles away, but that was a whole different story!

7. 101.109 iirc. I looked at it yesterday. It went 15-17 for the week so much more balanced than The Masters.

Going 0-5, I thought I would take a mighty tumble so I'm glad to see it was only a slide to 3rd in Digest. No one seems to want that top spot. Looking forward I'm pretty pumped to get a crack at the juggernaut GB13 this week though.
Thanks. It doesn't show up in my live scoring so I didn't know what it was, and I didn't know whether I beat it or not.

8. The driver worked its butt off today. Good thing, because pretty much everything else stunk. The one fairway I missed with the driver I was trying to carry about 240 yards of water. It moved just left enough that it had to carry about 280, and didn't quite get there. The greens had just been plugged and sanded, so putting was a nightmare. A two week layoff just doesn't work.

9. Interestingly enough (and I'm sure I'm the only one who will find this interesting... I like numbers), with the average being 79.2 so far, that puts exactly 16 teams beating it, and 16 teams losing to it. I'm not sure how much that will change once the top__ finishes get added on though.
It's certainly more interesting than 16 of the teams beating and 16 of the teams losing to the median score.[emoji41]
