PIJoe's Achievements

  1. I jave a pretty slow speed, and easy tempo. Bridgestone Tour B RXS- for consecutive year number 6. I love those balls, they're great off the tee, great with hybrids and irons, and amazing for me around and on the green. Buying some extras now that the 2022's are under $37/dz.
  2. For me, I grew up with MacGregor JNP's, and Taylor Made metals. Putters are all over the place, because I"m a terrible putter and refuse to admit it's MY fault, so I've hit everything. Positive: Mac's when they were well forged, and can still play a heritage bag from High School just for fun. OnOff irons- the best feeling set of irons (Kuro 2013's) I've ever hit. Ever, including Miura. Taylor Made- have always hit their woods well. Mizuno woods (recent) I also hit well. Honma woods I also hit well. Wedges? Edison. I switched last season, and the extra weight in the upper portion of the blades gave me consistently great wedge shots all season. Bridgestone- Irone I like, Tour B RXS balls are the best for me. They work incredibly, feel awesome, and I hit them very well. YES! Putters, Evnroll, Ping putters. Titleist Tour Response, Wilson 50, Pro V1X, new Maxfli balls. Indifferent: Titleist- Tried to like the woods, just didn't do much for me. Irons, meh. Rather hit Mac's in older ones, and OnOff newer. Honma irons: They just weren't very good for me. I really, really wanted to like the TR21X's, but they were too inconsistent with yardages. Wilson- I'm either way, but if they're on the shelf, I'll probably pass by, as the graphics are too busy for me. Srixon- trying a set for the first time this coming spring. Negative- I don't know that I really have a negative, but maybe clubs I've been disappointed by, for not really creating any sort of connection between what I was told or sold on vs. how they actually felt or hit... Scotty Cameron, Cobra, Callaway, Mizuno irons, PXG, LAB, Bettinardi, SeeMore. Pro V1, anything TopFlite. Cut golf, the balls last one iron shot for me, before the grooves cut up the balls. Maybe that's why they call them Cut.
  3. I replaced all of my wedges with Edison's last fall after trying one wedge for a month last summer. I replaced my Vokey's, and noticed mishits were WAY better with the Edison's. I made more great wedge shots with the Edison's in the last two months of the season than I did with my Vokey's in the last 4 years. I love these wedges. The dual-grind sole is the real deal. I had previously had it on some Hogan wedges, also designed by Terry Koehler, but the changed weight balance on the Edison 2.0's makes them more forgiving than the old designs.
  4. Just club ho'd another set of irons from Golf Partner USA for 20% off. Whole site is 20% off...
  5. Is that literally a YES! putter?
  6. Bought a set of Honma TR21X irons today. I just can't stop spending money lol! @Bang60 On page 747 I'll pick up a set of Honma 747's...
  7. Bought a nice set of Honma T737Vs and also a nice set of minty Onoff 2013's...
  8. It obviously depends on the condition of the ball, but if I check up on concrete, I change it. If I can keep it clean and non-scuffed, I'll keep playing it until I can't. I just don't like the scuffs. I don't usually change to a junk ball on tight or water holes as I think the negative thoughts do more harm than good for me.
  9. Just purchased (2) Frontline sticks for this season to try- the 4.0 blade and the 10.5 mid-mallet.
  10. Thanks for this review. I was thinking about trying SP4, but have always thought that subscription services were just unnecessary. Thank you for shocking me back to reality. It seems like it's really just an overrun/unsold clearinghouse for the most part sending the shirts and stuff that the respective companies couldn't sell originally.
  11. Well, to me, it might depend on the course. If it's a muni or a nice but not top-notch busy club- I'd have no problem taking my boy with some caveats. Since he's a little young to really do much playing on the course unless you're alone, or with friendly partners who don't mind, and with nobody behind you I'd say let him mess around as long as he isn't doing anything questionable on the greens but it sounds like he's well past that point. Driving range at the end of the tee to avoid those oops hits hitting anyone, and have fun on the putting/chipping green for sure as long as he understands the etiquette of when to retrieve balls. As long as his attention is held, i'd let him play with us! Great post position too!!
  12. I don't see how with the availability of club builders and adjustments, why some seem to think that what they buy is what they will have to use. I mean- any reputable shop will be able to adjust a loft, lie, length... whatever it is. Sure you'll run into some issues with leading edges, etc, with some sole grinds, but everything can be adjusted. I like about 2* flat lie because I'm shorter and have a shallower swing. That 1/2" shorter club + 2* flat combo gives me the best chance to make solid contact and good trajectory. I don't think the OEM's are trying to screw anyone, they're just trying to be the "longest" in commercials, but that doesn't mean that they'll be the longest once adjusted to your specific needs.
