  1. Watching the Masters 2019 in real time as it should be on just now- amazing how excited I can still get even though I know its a recording.
  2. not far off what some are doing. Local guy in the store was wearing scuba gear minus wetsuit and flippers off course. But he had goggles, and breathing tank- better safe than sorry. I went to get some essentials recently and I was the ONLY person in a store of 60 (they counted you in and out to ensure only 60 at anyone time) that had a mask and gloves on. Maybe they dont watch the news ffs! Our Prime Minister is currently in intensive care with this and he is an outstanding PM. Covid doesnt discriminate.

  4. 70* this weekend, first time this year. We are all on lockdown and all courses closed.
  5. Anyone remember when the world class fitters taught the wrong ball flight laws? I had an open face at impact on all putters except a full toe hang putter, as the SAMM putt lab guy said the face closes faster and helps you square up with a full toe hang. He also confirmed what all world class fitters say, there is no-one with a sbst stroke, its not possible. Just science.
  6. what do you currently use? I also did this according to a SAMM putt lab session I had. I had no idea I did this until shown. I had used slight toe hang putters and like you thought a face balanced putter would cure it. We tried many blade and mallet face balanced putters and no matter how hard I tried I presented the face slightly open at impact. Switched to a full toe hang blade putter and it was an INSTANT fix, solid and consistent putts without having to manipulate the head. Now I can concentrate on speed and line instead of strike. Good luck and keep us appraised of your journey.
  7. isn't the idea behind a quarantine to stay indoors where possible, stay safe and take the strain out the health system?
  8. I heard today that British American Tobbacco, based in Kentucky are hoping to grow a vaccine from tobacco plants and might be doing clinical tests soon. Of all the industries I didnt expect relief to come from, a cigarette company is high up there. Hope its true and they really can come up with a vaccine soon. Best reports elsewhere are Jan 2021 at the very earliest
  9. very keen to have a proper fitting for these irons. Am I the only one that has looked at pretty much every review of them on youtube recently? I wont be going in to the fitting and testing with any pre conceived ideas, apart from the fact they have all been pretty positive so far about looks and sound, and ultra positive about dispersion. My biggest concern about any GI club is the potential 'flier' that has plagued some GI clubs in the past. Callaway Apex springs to mind with numerous reports of 'suddenly' hitting a club 20+ yards further than normal. Consistent testing especially with arccos in the grips will really help answer that one I hope.
  10. Try what you like the look of first, regardless if its a blade or GI club. Then narrow it down based on feel and performance. I've been a blade man nearly all my life, moved to something in between the last 10 years but the GI clubs these days are looking and sounding so much better. I play with 3 guys early teens handicap who play thin blades, cause thats what they like. I also play with 2 guys who are Plus handicaps and one Professional golfer who have ugly game improvement irons (imo). These guys could play blades but they like the look, feel and performance of their GI clubs which are the earlier ones classed as shovels in some quarters. There is no right or wrong answer, play what you like and gives you the most enjoyment in golf. I meant to add, as one of the lucky testers of the new Ping 710 GI irons I am personally keen to see if they could be my new gamers as they look great and I've always liked a wider looking iron.
  11. Condolences Rob. There really are no words I have that are any better than what you wrote and others echo'd. Sad time, thoughts are with you.
  12. yup, it gave me goosebumps and brought a tear to my eye. These people are immensely brave helping infected patients while wearing poor ppe, and the constant fear they could catch it. They dont get paid enough imo
  13. I was playing tomorrow with a tee time- but after seeing the idiots out today I've decided to stay indoors- this is more serious than these morons realise. Parties and mass gatherings the last 2 days means there will be thousands and thousands of covid-19 cases smothering our health service in the next 3-4 weeks! I am so annoyed at them, selfish selfish mofos that will cost other peoples lives!! I expect our PM will enforce a lockdown tonight, he needs to as these people will be our downfall.
  14. Never used the actual alignment sticks, a club laid on the ground (of which I have 12 others in my bag) does the same thing, and less to carry around. Only thing an alignment stick can do that a club cant is stick it in the ground if you want plane angles, or takeaway aids etc, but if you just want to align your feet and clubhead/path etc then I've used clubs in my bag for 4 decades.
  15. Well well well, after a day of listening to our PM say he is closing every bar, restaurant, cinema, gym, leisure centre etc etc and will review it on a monthly basis, it sparked off hours of talk about no income and how to survive going forward. PM has a decent package to support individuals and we just have to be sensible and stay safe. at 22.20 tonight was the first time I looked at my emails and saw a few pm's from MGS- strange I thought, have I done something wrong or has covid-19 had a serious impact on MGS. Then I see I have been chosen to test the new Ping irons, fantastic! Thank you MGS and Ping, lets hope things ease off here enough to do some proper testing. Congratulations fellow spies, really keen to see how these compare to Mizuno's and if they can help me be the golfer I want to be.
  16. I am posting here slightly early as I dont have the clubs yet and it might be a few weeks due to this horrible disease affecting everyone. But I thought a quick write up on a fitting thats not a fitting, well not in the way we are all used to but sadly this might end up becoming the new normal for at least the foreseeable future or until a vaccine is found. Thanks to MGS and Ping for this opportunity and for working out a way to try and keep everything moving when it's so easy to just wait until someone else comes up with a solution to this pandemic! So instead of a personal fitting in a Ping centre one on one, I would have a zoom fitting with a Ping Master Fitter from Arizona. I chose a time based on an email they sent, then I sent a couple of videos of my swing face on and DTL by email to help with how I load the shaft (Pings request). All set up with zoom on my phone I clicked the link on their email and it connected to the meeting and waited for the host to log in. James Lee logged in and I could see him chatting away but couldnt hear him, he couldnt hear me either I think, so I used the chat function to tell him. After 10 minutes of chatting about settings etc (all were fine both sides) I asked him to call me on my cell and I would view him via zoom on my pc which doesnt have a camera or mic. James tried and eventually told me it was blocked to make a cell call. I think its because of different continents that Ping block audio and cell calls. Anyway, we cracked on with him talking, me seeing him on my pc and me typing answers to the questions he asked which I could hear We had basically taken an already strange fitting experience via video to a new level and even stranger scenario James was talking to a monitor and I was frantically typing as fast as I could. Is this the new norm? I don't like it! Fortunately with the videos I had sent and the specs he agreed that the Nippon Modus3 105 shafts in 'S' were a good fit for me even though the web fit wanted 'X', but thats because of my SS I think, if it knew my age it would recommend Senior or ladies With all tech working both ways I think this would be 50% off the way to a decent fitting, key areas of ball flight, feel, ball speed, AoA, distance etc wont be there and I know thats key for many, but if you want clubs asap and want some expert opinion on what's good for you and your swing, this is as close as we are going to get these days. I'm sure ball flight could be tweaked once you have the clubs if you needed a higher or lower launch and flight, any good fitter could make that tweak and I'm sure Ping would support that, worth asking during your zoom fitting and before buying, but based on the usual excellent Ping customer experience I cant see this being an issue, but check first. Anyway, I await my new 'fitted' clubs with eager anticipation and I will of course feedback how they really are based on a strange but pleasant encounter with a fitter socially distanced not by 2 metres but by a different continent!
  17. After 3 days of enforced home schooling (all schools closed in UK now) I've had to sort out a fight, send one to his room for detention, and sack the teacher for being drunk in charge of the class!
  18. I planned to go to our weekly roll up this saturday as the forecast is dry, sunny but cold. However, the Government has said they want everyone 70+ to self isolate for 12 weeks starting midnight Friday, so I'm not sure what will happen now. Worst case I will turn up and do some chipping and putting practice as I need out the house as we have been isolating the last 3 days.
  19. UK just announces anyone 70+ self isolates for 14 weeks starting this weekend, and everyone else to minimise social interaction and avoid cinemas/theatres/pubs etc etc for the long haul. Right call to minimise the effect on our health service, they can cope if the constant numbers are workable but not if they are overwhelmed. We have an outstanding PM now and the two experts by his side are Global leaders and very very reassuring in their knowledge. Scary times but I'm comforted knowing they are in charge.
  20. Locke and Key- Netflix- pretty good concept and story.
  21. This is worth a watch, very simply explained and makes so much sense.
  22. Best place to be when they say stay clear of large groups and confined contact with individuals for more than 15 minutes/? The GOLF COURSE...........with my driving ability I wont be within 50 yards of playing partners, in fact they might not even see me for the trees
  23. Yes there are outbreaks every year. However, the difference is there are vaccines for them, coronavirus has no vaccine yet and best predictions are a year away. I think that's the reason it has rightly caught the attention of most governments. Severe cases need medical respiratory machines. The UK has 500 which is more than enough for normal strains in conjunction with a vaccine, but with no vaccine the numbers will be much higher. Italy has the 2nd best hospital facilities in the world and they can't cope with the numbers, hence a complete lock down of their country. I agree about personal hygiene, this would certainly help but I'm afraid people in general are very unhygienic.
  24. Love to hear the story of trying to go Pro, how he did it, what the process was, and the journey..............please. There's a book in the making here Harry. Good luck in Tournament number 1.
  25. I tried, but cant seem to find out how to upload in the gallery, it only lets me use a web link or someone elses folder?
