  1. This close to my first hole in one yesterday at Lyon Oaks in the metro Detroit area. Flushed a 7i and was dead at it the entire way. Landed a few feet short then lipped out.
  2. I swear, the Carl's Golfland locations here in metro-Detroit might have the best lefty putter selection of any retail store in the entire country. I'll make sure to snap a photo next time I stop by one of their shops.
  3. Couldn't grab a picture, but had a wild incident at the Carl's Golfland range here in the Detroit area yesterday, 8 lefties - all of us in a row at the same time. IDK what the odds of that happening are but it was pretty neat to see. There were some confused looking righty faces too walking by.
  4. Graphite Design Tour AD DI shaft 60g Stiff. It's the main reason I bought the club as that shaft alone for $100 is a steal.
  5. Been busy with work the past week, but finally here they are! Before: Talyormade 09 Burner After: Exotics EX10 It's only a matter of time before I add some of those high-face sky marks on this new baby, but so far it's treated me well. The launch is a touch higher than I'd prefer but can't complain too much for a $100.
  6. A week of temps in the 70's and a couple days of heavy rain have made a night and day difference for course conditions here in southern Michigan. By Memorial Day, most courses should be in peak shape. Sank this putt Saturday for birdie at Tanglewood in South Lyon. Ball landed 2 feet short of the cup and rolled right past.
  7. Hmm thanks, I think I might go with somehow arranging/gluing some small rare earth magnets for the one I plan to make as I'd like the background to be nice felt-like material.
  8. Are those sheets magnetic enough that I could stretch fabric over them and still have enough hold?
  9. Thankfully I have Carl's Golfland here in the Detroit area otherwise it would be a nightmare to find gloves anywhere else. It is by far the more anooying thing to purchase being a lefty. Good luck trying to get one at a course if you happened to forget yours at home. Heck, when we still had Golfsmith locations here they never even stocked lefty gloves.
  10. My new 3 wood finally arrived today. It took weeks of hunting, but scooped up a brand new Exotics EX10 with GD Tour AD shaft for $100. TBD if I'll keep it as-is, but if I don't love it my plan is to swap the shaft onto another head later in the season.
  11. Holla to tony@CIC for being the lefty selected for the Wilson testing! edit: A big shout out to the MSG for always making it a point to not leave us out of these testings.
  12. Ok, rant time. With the internet at our disposal these days it's not often I have trouble finding a club I want in LH but I've gone mad trying to find a Cobra 5/6 fairway wood. I started looking for an F7 in November, and even considering buying an F8 but none are to be found anywhere. I've contact every local shop and all the major third party retailers none are to be found. Today I spoke directly with Cobra CS and they admitted they do very-very small orders of LH heads. The absolute soonest they said I could even get my hands on an F8 is early June, which at that point 1/4 of the Michigan golf season is gone. Just disappointing overall, especially when all my local shops are over loaded with heavily marked down righty F7's right now. Probably just going to have to try to make an Epic Heavenwood or something similar fit my needs.
  13. Aww, I'll be your lefty friend, friend. We all have to stick together, no?
  14. I know this has been brought up before, but there better be a special place in hell for people who spit sunflower seed shells on greens. Both courses I played the past two days had shells all over every single green.
  15. The courses in the Detroit area are finally getting in spring-ish condition. Some of them are still a bit of a mudfest, but things are greening up quick. My buddies and I finally got in our first twilight foursome round in on the season. Had a few ugly holes and a rough day putting but couldn't ask for a better weather day - 60°, overcast and just a hint of a breeze. That winter was brutal, so glad it's over.
  16. That's seems crazy to me. I've heard the large hockey following in Great Lakes states and Canada cited as a reason for a higher percentage of lefty golfers in our land of cold and snow. Makes sense, but I've never seen specific numbers to back that up.
  17. Didn't really want to start an entire new thread for this, but couldn't find another place to bring it up: Is there a way we can get some missing brands added to the emoji menu for our signatures? I noticed Exotics was missing when I updated my sig last night. Getting some of the major shaft brand logos in there could be neat too.
  18. I've tried it from time to time using my wife's putter, but I just can't get a good control on speed from the right side. Maybe if I was a teenager again I'd put the time & effort into making the switch to putt from that side but found it's just not worth the struggle for me now.
  19. I have boney fingers so have to use slightly thicker gloves to keep my hand turning into a blistered mess during the summer. Taylormade Tour Preferred gloves are pricey but the only ones I've found that fit my funky hand size of shorter thumbs but long middle finger. It's almost comical trying on some other brands as I'll have a good 1/2"+ of material just flopping around off the thumb.
  20. Ok, question time: How do you fellow lefties that are right eye dominant deal with putting? I've found I can compensate for it a bit on full swings with a small head tilt but I really struggle when I get to the green. The only solution I've found is to pre-line up my putt standing behind it (with a line on the ball) then almost never look at the hole when I'm actually standing over the putt. If I do, I find I instantly lose confidence in that previously chosen line.
  21. Thankfully I don't hear that too often unless I get paired up with someone of the boomer generation. I play at least 50% of my round solo so get match up with random groups a lot and I've noticed there's a significantly higher number of millennial and younger aged golfers playing lefty. In fact, of my 10 or so friends I play with most often half of us are lefty. I think the ability to shop for clubs and learn the game via the internet has really killed off most of the push for lefties to switch to righties.
  22. WHAT UP MY FELLOW LEFTIES?! Love that we have our own thread. I too was encouraged to switch to righty when I took my first lesson some time in middle school, but my grandfather who got me into the game quickly snapped back at the instructor that I was lefty and there was no reason to force me to do otherwise. I'm glad he did, I enjoy the slightly unique twist it provides to the game both playing and following the pros. Cobra does ok, but I have a small beef with them right now. I've been trying to find a still shaft 5-6 wood for over 5 months and I can't find a single one in the entire country. I've gone as far as reaching out to various people at corporate to see if they can just send me a head but have had zero luck. They also didn't sent out any demo or sample clubs of the new forge tech blacks to any retailers, so right now I'm a bit down on them. One major thing I've noticed is that I see very few lefties who are hardcore brand loyal. We have a large % of lefties in the Detroit area for whatever reason and rarely do I see any sporting just one or two brands in their bag. Good tip. I wished they stocked more lefty irons sets but they seem to barely ever have anything listed.
  23. I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANY LONGER. How can our state break whatever curse that has been cast upon us?
  24. If it's the company I'm thinking of, I still miss the old return policy.
