I’d be very afraid.
1) Such a shock could give me a heart attack. Not that I have a bad heart, but I’m no spring chicken.
2) I think I would choke on my golf balls.
3) Would I ever see them again? Or would the soft urethane cover turn into a surlyn cover?
All that comes to mind is the Seinfeld episode.

Missed another one. I was on a plane on my way home from Tulsa.
@ILMgolfnut I am right off of 74 at exit 183. We will have to go play next time you are passing by. You need a little golf to break up your drive right?

A magnetic putter cover or a driver head cover would be my picks.

Yes, but ... $131.45 for the starter set at the current exchange rate
Just play courses without water and you’ll break even in no time. Three dozen quality golf balls would cost about the same.
But even if the ball performed well I’m sure durability would be an issue.

I thought Tulsa would have been warmer. 33 degrees out. Yuk, I need to get back to the Carolinas. Heading down for some not so superb hotel breakfast then off to start the work day.
On the menu today, meetings and more meetings. Looking forward to tomorrow afternoon when I start heading back home where I will be affectionately greeted by my dog, ignored by the kids, getting a hi honey from my wife and a most welcoming greeting by my golf course.- sirchunksalot, William P, tdc1 and 16 others

I would like to see a certification program like some other countries do. You have to take a class on rules and take a proficiency test and carry an official handicap to play a big course. This means there needs to be more par three courses and driving ranges so people can get the experience needed in order to get certified and then let out on the big courses.

I'd settle for an audible device that would beep when you're close to your ball in the woods. Maybe in my case it would Bluetooth to my hearing aids.
You asked for it.

My approach to balls depends on the season. I typically play the Maxfli Tours for in season play (April through October).
But winter months I look for a softer ball. It doesn’t need to be a high performance ball. Just something that is softer and durable. If I’m playing a brutal course then I’ll lean toward a ball that won’t break the bank if I loose a few.- sirchunksalot, Rob Person, William P and 1 other

Not sure if you saw that Holly sonders (formerly on the golf channel) wanted to start a female topless league. my only question to that idea was where were they going to be able to play.
I was invited by my friend to be in a golf tournament and that’s all I knew going in to it.
It was “The Masters Gentlemen’s Club” outing in NJ many years ago. Three man team plus an entertainer caddy. There were also entertainers stationed at every green that wasn’t in view of houses or roads. I can’t go into details here but they were banned from the golf course after that day. The after party was even crazier. -

Yet another work day. Sitting in the airport waiting to catch my flight to Tulsa OK. What else can I say but TRAVEL SUCKS. Can’t even get a round of golf in on this trip. Double suckaroos.
Dinner with clients, teaching product Wednesday am, two other customer visits that day and another dinner. Thursday morning another customer visit and back to the airport. I’ll miss the community call as I’ll be in flight.Praying to hit the lottery. This work stuff is getting as old as I am.

You think they'd look at me funny if I came to the course wearing snake chaps? They work to keep the briars off, too.
Nah, they’ll just think you are from Texas. When someone questions you just yell out a name. Then tell them you’re looking for your horse.

They numbed the spot and removed it to send off for a biopsy and I should know in a week or two what the results are.
For now, I have to keep it bandaged and put Vaseline on it.
Thank you all for the kind words and support.
Half the battle is over. They removed it and it will heal up. Vaseline on your head well that’s another story. No need looking for a hat in Ross now. It will only slide off your head.
Seriously though, I hope the test comes back okay my friend.

My "expectations" are to make it in one piece (and hopefully unscratched up) to the 19th Hole
I’ll bring a ball retriever for you.

Congrats on joining. Prepare to be spoiled. Private club play can’t be beat. The course conditions, practice facilities, good food, and not having to deal with a packed course makes it all worth it. You just have to find a group to get in with.
Now I’m in NC. I joined a club which is only semi private. Meaning members get preferred tee times and pay a flat monthly fee for unlimited play. It allows the public to play. It’s the closest course so it will do. Course conditions are not as good but they are working on improving them.

Cobra Aerojet Max. Easy to hit. Drops and stops. Good distance and a straight shooter. It is just so reliable. I had a Cobra F6 before this one, but this one is even better.

A little chilly due to the wind at the start of my round but it calmed down after the third hole. I managed to get back some of my distance I lost last year. I don’t know where I lost it or maybe I just left it in TN. I hit a few smokers today (for me at least).
I was getting around the course pretty well at one under until I got to the 14th hole. Shorted my approach and chipped with a 2 putt for bogey. But killled my drive and 3 wood to be on the fringe of the par 5 15th. Chip and one putt for bird. On the 16th hole. Great drive but my approach was less than stellar, then the chip got hung in the collar and ball just trickled on the putting surface. Missed the putt and tapped in. Back to even again. 17 was a 160 yard par 3. Did I mention I got some distance back? Sent the ball over the back of the green. Great chip up for an easy par. Then made par on the par 5 18th. Ups and downs but cruised into the parking lot at even par. I’ll take it. -
The only hurdle is age. I learned a few years ago that too much practice will hurt your joints.
I do practice a few times a week (sim in the garage and a 10 foot putting mat) But full swings never on back to back days ( In the sim). It doesn’t make sense, but I can play out on the course back to back and more, but not in the sim. Probably because you play out on the course in 3 to 4 hours so you have some recovery between shots but play 18 on the sim in an hour.I don’t hit balls on the range (at least at my course) The range is built on a swamp but it is still very soft. Everything plugs and the balls are trash. I rather set the sim to driving range mode and hit four or five balls with each club. Then putt for 10 minutes.
Well off to play golf now it’s up to 50 degrees from 38 when I woke up.

Got up for my usual Sunday morning round. The sun was shining and off to a good start. Hit the bathroom and looked at my phone. 38 degrees Back to bed… Just two days ago it was shorts weather. Looks like an afternoon round is in my plans for today. At least I’m up, showered, and dressed to golf.
The rain the last two days should have cleared out the pollen some. Friday my shoes, socks, and up to my calves were a bright shade of a yellowish green. My Motocaddy was a camo pattern with yellow, gray, and black colors. All the yellow pines in this area are brutal for two to three weeks. Going into week 3.
Hope golf is part of your day.

I wouldn’t worry about the hat. You’ll probably buy one in Kingsmill to remember the occasion. It is your first outing after all.

It’s starting to get real. Soon enough it will be time to pack the bags.

I like the plastic tees. I find that they don’t leave marks on the dark colored wood heads and last forever. I used to use white wood tees but they make a mess on equipment. Natural wood colored tees are harder to find once they flip out of the ground.
I use the tall tees and the shorties. Luckily I find a few shorties every time I play. The shorties can be wood or plastic.

I’ve been a Wilson fan for years. These are so on my short list. @Golfspy_CG2 I hope to see yours at Kingsmill. Wilson already has inventory issues on these.
