  1. I definitely it helps, especially on bright, sunny days with little wind. The UV is better than a traditional umbrella, but a traditional umbrella is better than nothing. My 12 year old daughter won't play without one on sunny days. My kids and I have found ourselves walking/playing more here in when we use the umbrella on our push carts. But when the dew point gets over 70, nothing helps hold off the heat except the breeze.
  2. Hey Y'all, Been a long time MGS reader and occasionally drop into the forum for the last 10 years or so. But I have found myself reading the forum more lately and decided to do an intro. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I've been playing golf for over just short of 30 years I think. Started playing in junior high school. My current handicap is a 9.2 after a rough spring season. What do you love about golf? Now, it is playing with my kids and my wife, sharing the game with is awesome. I always like the challenge and thrill of a well executed shot. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I am a tinkerer and research shopper, so naturally MGS is a place for people to share experiences and learn about all things golf. I don't know any other Spies. Where are you from? What is your home course? I live in the Upstate of South Carolina. My home course is Pickens Golf Club. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The best part about golf in my region is the people, they enjoy the game and are always friendly. The worst part is the intense terrain combined with the heat and a lot of the course are in housing developments, it makes walking (my preferred way to play) very difficult. What do you do for a living? I am currently a stay at home dad, homeschooling my 3 kids. How’d you pick your user name? I've always gone by Kip, and I was in the US Navy. I picked Navykip back then and it has followed me across main platforms.
  3. Thanks for the review. How is it still holding up after almost another month of play? Do you prefer the swivel or fixed wheel up front? How did the swivel perform in soggy conditions and on steeper inclines? Also, I had no idea the lockout for the front wheel was on the handle, very cool.
  4. Thanks for the story of your fitting, I had a similar fitting story as to you recently. I was fit for irons and driver. The driver fitting was great, I needed something that would not the spin down and take the "hard left" miss more regularly out of the bag. It has, and added more yards and better dispersion to the drive than I could have ever expected. I am skeptical of fittings in general, because the conditions of fittings are drastically different than playing golf. The iron fitting was different, I knew head what I wanted, and I really like how they feel and interact with the ground. But I was recommended I change shafts from DG to Nippon Modus. During the fitting, it felt fine and I hit them with better numbers. On the course, I cannot stand the ballflight and feeling of the new shafts. I had played Project X for a few 4 seasons a few years back in my irons, and hit them fine, but never liked the feeling, but eventually moved back into Dynamic Gold. The Modus shafts have been a total disaster for me. I cannot feel that at the top of bottom of my swing as I do my old set with dynamic golds and the ball flight. I will have much more discerning the next time I time I need to change something as tuned in as an iron shaft.
  5. They are great clubs, I have the straight ZX7s 4-PW. I was debating going with the ZX5s in the long irons, but I am happy I stuck with the ZX7s instead.
  6. I have had this set in my bag for about a month. They feel and sound incredible. The turf interaction is the best of any iron I have ever played, perfect for me. The look good at address. And the have given me enough help on the shots I leave out of the toe to not lose too much distance. They are incredible, but I have two issues with my set. First, I was not a big fan of the AW, it’s a traditionally shaped blade style wedge and doesn’t keep the cavity back like the rest of the set. I didn’t know that, I just would’ve preferred to be a matching cavity back. Be aware. Second issue for me is the shafts. My fitting told me the modus shafts were better than my regular X100s. During the fitting they felt great, but I am not a fan. The biggest issue is I lose the feel of the club at transition especially in the longer irons. But the lack consistency on impact also. And the ball flight… it’s different than Dynamic Gold. I will probably reshaft and get rid of the AW after I give myself a little more time to adjust to the differences.
  7. That was a lot of fun. Love the offerings from Cobra this year. Thanks again to Cobra and My Golf Spy.
  8. I have used ShotScope since the version 2, then the V3, and I have my X5 now. The accuracy is on par with anything GPS device I've used, Garmin, Golfbuddy, or phones. I think they are great, they have consistently gotten better and made improvements throughout the years. They now have strokes gained on every shot you hit, so you can see the value of each shot. The customer service is quick to make adjustments with adding clubs and any course mapping issues. There is also NO SUBSCRIPTION FEES. Like most trackers, you have to do some editing sometimes, especially on the green with putting and pins. Since the X5 was just released, there are plenty of little technical issues, but they will be worked out soon, now they have more players using the watches.
  9. I am so excited and want MacGregor to be successful. They look so good, the classic shape and look of the older MacGregors. Excited to see more updates.
  10. Nice Picks everyone. Very impressive getting Brooks, Gary, and Louis.
