ah that was you who bought that, didnt like the ventus eh?

I've used the ventus blue for 2 years now, love everything about the feel of it, but... I just can't get it up anymore and I needed help 😃

Looking for something a little higher launching, a little higher spinning. I have the 5th Gen Kuro Kage Silver that came with my SIM2 Max right now, and it fits me better than the Ventus Blue these days. But the bylaws of my provisional CHA membership requires that I don't play a standard stock shaft offering, so had to find something to spend money on and I couldn't find a decent deal on a Ventus Red, or I would have gotten that. If I find one of those, I'll probably order it too.

Every time I have bought something from CPO used they have sent me a headcover

Which is like every 1.9 days. So this statement carries significant weight.

aside from that, I wandered to the other 120+ SS forum and found an Accra TZ6 M4 for $175. So I have that coming to try in my new SIM2 Max. Hoping it feels similar to a Ventus, but with a little higher launch than the blue. I didn't have the patience for @edingc to try then sell his new AutoFlex to @dlow206 and then for him to try and sell it to me at huge discounts. So this will have to hold me over till then.

  3. Unbiased opinion?! On a golf forum?? We are all completely jaded and biased. But we normally acknowledge it and try to give advice regardless. Wander over to the CHA forum, having 2-5 sets of irons is par for the course.

I think you should keep both sets, and maybe add one or two more. That way you can put misbehaving sets in timeout. You have to show them that you are in charge and they can't just hit balls into the woods without being held accountable.

If there is one thing I've learned about golf, it's that everyone has a perfect swing, but ill fitting equipment holds us back from being on tour.

Okay, maybe I got that wrong. But welcome to the forums.

Great feedback! I did a lot of research into it to see if it would work OK with my current head (Mavrik) and the consensus was that it should be pretty solid. I have a lighter weight coming for the Mavrik so that I can get the swingweight down to what is recommended.

I was honestly going to look into it more at the end of the season, but then I'd have to wait several months before getting to use it. And the market for them is still hot. If I hate it and it doesn't work out, resale isn't too awful.

I'll take it for 75% what you paid for it 😁

    1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? 2 Years and my handicap is 33.1 😶 I score around 102-112 I have shot in the 90s a few times!
    2. What do you love about golf? Being outside and being able to compete against myself every round

    3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I used the site for their reviews constantly and saw they had a forum and wanted to start talking about golf with others and not just my brother and father.

    4. Where are you from? What is your home course? Currently residing in Portland/Gresham OR used to play Glendoveer but since I just bought a Condo in Gresham I am looking at starting to play Rose City more of Gresham Golf Club.

    5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Best things about golf in PNW never gets too hot in the summer and a decent amount of local courses to choose from. Wort part is the rainy months and the amount of trees on every course.

    6. What do you do for a living? Call Center and Dispatch Supervisor for Non-emergency Medical Transportation

    7. How’d you pick your user name? It just my first name and first letter of my last name nothing special

Welcome to the forums, lots of spys in the greater Portland area.

  6. WTS my Velocore Ventus Blue. TM adapter plays about 44.75" $200 shipped conus.

Used condition, few minor scratches under grip from prior grip removals, blemish by adapter from over zealous tip prep by someone installing the adapter.

  7. Just to add to this conversation about the actual switch from steel to graphite. I did it last year, going from Nippon Modus 105s to Recoils. Honestly, if I didn't know I was swinging graphite, I wouldn't know. From a feel through the swing standpoint, I couldn't tell you a difference. I think with as many good options that are out there, you can find one that feels exactly like you want it to and gives all the performance/comfort benefits.

  8. IMHO the only reasons not to switch are cost and stigma.

Graphite is a superior technology, for all ages, for all swing speeds. If you trust a graphite shaft in your driver with higher swing speed and more load, why wouldn't you trust one in your 7i?

But cost and stigma are real, even on tour where cost isn't an issue the stigma keeps them out of bags. But from a performance stand point, I don't know of any argument to play steel over graphite.

Also +1 to joint pain relief.

I played 18 today, beautiful day.

So it seams like I am defintely losing distance with forged 5 vs hot metal 5.

Funny though 7-gw I was probable the same or even maybe a little longer. Might be a little more spin keeping shots in air longer. In fact, I was playing by myself, no one in front or behind me so I really was practicing. Especially approach shots.

I was like 148 out, with hot metals I would hit easy 8i. So today I hit 7i and  blew right over green, nice high approach, next I hit 8i, thought I went over so hit another and then tried 9i.  When I rolled up to green with 3 balls on green. I was happy but confused.

    I think it was 2 with 8i and 1 with 9.

So I think the short irons are same or better then hot metals, but where hot metals excel for me would be 4,5 and maybe 6i.

At this point hot metals are going to sell on eBay, so I am going to play forged for a bit and see if I  feel comfortable.

Sounds like you should play a split set to me 🤔

  10. I guess from tour adoption, nothing is going to compete with the ProV1.

But... Graphite shafts in drivers comes pretty close. They went from non-existent to 98% adoption in a very short time frame. I remember Tiger's first wins were with a 43" steel shaft. That extra 2-3" of controllable club has done as much as anything to add distance.

Taylormade Spider putter. Honorable mention (yes, I did just get one).

He is a company man. Can't fault him for that.

I went and found the post round interview to hear what he actually said, and all he says is  "...I need to thank my sponsors...   ...Cobra RadSpeed..."

So he doesn't say anything that isn't accurate.

Still... now I kinda want a King LTD pro, and ebay only has two. None of the other used club places I normally look even have them. Bryson must have bought them all.
