foreverdank reacted to Reesedw in Fall Golf. Best Time of the year?
I love summer golf, but my favorite time for golf is fall..
I love the fact that the courses in the PNW are usually still in great shape, the weather is still great, the courses less crowded, with cheaper greens fees.. and Most of all, the cool crisp air, the dew on the greens.. Heaven..
Am i the only one NOT living in Florida that loves fall golf?? I like it way better than spring golf..

My interest level today is a lot less than a couple years ago. I am a fantasy geek with 20 teams a year and because of that I do find I cheer for players more than teams anymore.
With out crossing the moral code, there is just to much negative noise around the NFL to ignore, they have some serious issues they need to address with perhaps the biggest being player safety.

I totally agree, Rev.
In New England, they can't get forty kids to field a team. Schools have had to drop their freshman and JV programs, and the varsity programs could come next. Parents are simply not letting their kids play.
It seems to fall on socio-political lines. Football still flourishes in parts of the nation with different views than ours on other things as well. Just an observation.
Fortunately for me, I'm not a football fan. I'm a Patriots fan.
When the Brady / Belichick era is officially over, the Red Sox and boxing will be my complete sports-watching experience,

What is taking those mods so long with the dislike button!!
I actually can't hate to hard on the Pats (I lived in bean town for 5 year). As a fan of the sport, I have to admire what they have been able to do to string together consecutive years of competitive teams. They always find a way to make it work. Why can't the Packers do that!?!?!

As long as there is money to be made, someone will take the field. I'm friends with a LB on the falcons and both he and his wife know what lies ahead health wise, but they just don't think about it. Sometimes a nice salary outweighs the health risks. Oh and he knows that these rule changes won't stop concussions, etc. It will just add to the penalty yardage each game.
I think the players association needs a decent PR firm to help get their message across instead of locker room interviews. Nothing is more American than freedom of speech but it does you no good when the kneeling at a game leaves a lot of people confused and scratching their heads.
As a Texans fan, I hope Watson stays healthy cause dang he looks good. I think the AFC South will be one of the toughest divisions with Jacksonville's defense, Titans showing life with Mariotta, and the return of Luck (despite the lack of weapons on offense). Should be a fun season.

There's a lot of simplistic truth to this. Being married to a practicing registered dietitian has taught me one thing in weight management: know your portions. Portions are not the same as serving sizes! A portion of meat is 3oz, not a 12oz steak at a restaurant. Also, don't go through life restricting yourself from particular foods, just know how and when to consume them. Want to eat pizza? Great! Go ahead! But eat a big salad (go easy on the salad dressing) or a lot of vegetables BEFORE you start eating pizza. Want to eat some ice cream? Go with 1/2 cup of ice cream, not 2 scoops. Want to drink a beer? Sure! Just limit it to a couple here and there. Filling up on healthy foods before divulging into unhealthy foods restrict your intake.
Low Carb, South Beach, Paleo, and yes, even Keto all work towards one goal: caloric deficiency. You either skimp on calories in carbs, fat, etc. There's no magic diet that provides long term results. They are all about immediate results but over time, nothing beats a balanced diet. What's a balanced diet? It's easy math. 1/2 your plate fruits and veggies, 1/4 plate whole grains (pasta, etc), 1/4 protein. Also, use a smaller plate. You'd be surprised how easy it is to eat proper portions when your plate is only 8" instead of 10" or 12".
God gave us kidneys and livers to keep our bodies in check. Drinking apple cider vinegar, juice 'cleanses', alkaline water, etc is a waste of money. None of those have any scientific proof of being beneficial. Drink plenty of water, eat real food (in proper portion control), get plenty of sleep and stop going through life avoiding certain foods.
Fun fact, the couple that started the Whole 30 diet didn't have a shred of nutrition education. So be careful what you follow and what you find on Google.

I drink a small glass of apple cider vinegar every morning. I mixed mine with honey and water. It gives me a good shot of energy and has really helped my digestive system.

My only suggestion is one that works for everyone every time. It's not in a book, seen on TV, or the web. Doesn't require any special shopping or meal plan subscriptions. You can eat any food you like.
It's called.... Eat Less.
You like steak? Me too... eat less.
How about hamburgers and fries? eat less.
Ice cream? donuts, cookies, pie.. eat less
Mashed potatoes and gravy? Mmmmm.... eat less.
Fried Chicken? eat less
Full combination plate at Jose's? eat less
I think you get the idea. We all eat too damn much and I'm no different. After about the first week or maybe two you'll see the pounds fall right off.
Take the challenge and eat less.
This also means to cut out a bunch of beer and liquor. Drink less. Eat less. Live longer!
Oh, you'll also gain 20 extra yards off the tee and make more putt$.

Doesn't even have to be golf related!
After a round of golf...
...a guy heads back to the club house. There, he sees a beautiful, blonde, big breasted woman, and naturally, he heads over to flirt with her. They hit it off, and decide to play a round together.
He is doing his best to impress, but she cleans his clock, winning by 9 strokes. Embarrassed, his manhood in question, she can tell he is hurt. But, she thinks he's sexy, so she suggests they go to the parking lot for a good ol' hummer in the backseat of his car. Needless to say, he enjoys himself and asks her to play golf tomorrow!
She accepts, and every day that week, they play, she wins by a large amount, and afterwords he gets a BJ in his car. Though quite happy with the way things are going, he decides that he wants to seal the deal, and he invites her to his place for a romantic Saturday night dinner.
She shows up dressed to the 9s, the candles are lit, the steak is ready. They sit down to eat and a moment before his first bite she abruptly drops her silverware and exclaims, "I can't do this anymore! I have to tell you something!"
Trying to comfort her, he says "Of course, you can tell me anything! I'm sure it will be ok!" To which she replies, "I'm actually a MAN!"
His anger burns hotter than the sun, and he screams back, "God damn you! You've been hitting off the women's tee all week!"
